About the property

3 Bedroom - 2 Bathroom + Loft - Stratton Mountain Views of Stratton

Sept. through March and Holiday's and Holiday weekends are a 3 night minimum You will love this charming newly built cedar log cabin that's tucked away on the mountain, yet close to everything!! Year round fun includes Winter (skiing, tubing, cross country, snowmobiling, XGames and much more) and many summer activities (golf, river tubing, coaster riding, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, zip-lining, antiquing, local fairs, farmers market, and much more) all local or within a short ride to Stratton, Okemo, Mt. Snow, Bromley. We’re very close to picturesque Grafton Ponds activity center in Grafton, VT, and if you are really up for the challenge sign up for the TOUGH MUDDER mud run and obstacle course challenge held yearly at Mount Snow!!!

We are on the mountain, nestled in the woods on 4+ acres and it's very private and peaceful. The main floor is an open floor plan with full kitchen with center island, overlooking the dining and living room areas. The amazing open 22 foot ceiling is sure to please, with round logs and a beautiful trapezoid glass panel s that you can look out and see the stars at night or the snow falling from the trees in the winter. In the living room we have the following: two full size sofas, one loveseat, recliner chair, coffee table and two end tables. The flat screen TV is above the fireplace with Direct TV with VCR/DVD player and HUNDREDS of movies on DVDs and tapes. There are two bedrooms, full bathroom and linen closet in the hallway. The front bedroom has one bunk bed (two twin beds), and one twin bed, closet area, dresser, television, VCR/DVD combo. The back bedroom has two twin beds, closet area, television, VCR/DVD combo. The upstairs features a large bedroom with King bed and loft area with a full size pull out couch, full bathroom with shower.

There are many local restaurants that are fabulous! There is Rick’s Tavern in Newfane that features the famous Friday night all you can eat fish fry, with live entertainment on the weekends. The Newfane Café and Creamery that features and eclectic gourmet offerings and specialty pizza. Another local favorite is the Townshend Dam Diner….and many more restaurants right up the road in Jamaica and Grafton. You can also head back to Brattleboro for a wide array of things to do. There is lots of shopping with local vendors, Zagat rated restaurants abound, coffee shops, wine store, supermarket, local co-op, hotels, motels and movie theater.

On your way in or out of Brattleboro, don’t forget to visit the Grafton Village Cheese Company, on Route 30, just off I91, exit 2! They feature a wide variety of the finest award winning cheeses. You can sample a variety of cheeses and my favorite is the sampling of the cheddar that’s offered in different ages to find your favorite! What will it be? The one year, two year , five year??

The fall foliage season is certainly NOT to be missed! Enjoy the Newfane Heritage Fair, Townshend Pumpkin Festival, local helicopter rides that I’m sure your entire family will enjoy!!

We are certain you will love our log cabin as much as we do!

About Jennifer

After the tragedy of September 11th, we decided to purchase land in VT with hopes to build one day and have a getaway vacation home. Well, that one day came pretty quickly and one year later we broke ground! It's been a true labor of love!

Jennifer purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Jennifer chose Stratton and Bromley Ski Areas

We loved the location! Townshend is a quiet town with super nice people. It's close enough to the market yet far away from it all!!

What makes this cabin unique

My husband and I custom designed this Moosehead Cedar Log home making this a truly unique vacation getaway.

The cabin sits on 5 acres and in the back corner of the property runs a snowmobile trail that connects to the VAST trail system not far away, making the a snowmobiler's dream!

Cozy Cabin and Lovely Views

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed at this cabin over the holidays. Before arrival, Jennifer was completely easy to deal with regarding booking. She did a wonderful job of informing us about procedures for check in, providing directions and suggestions.

The cabin is in a somewhat remote and rural location, which is exactly what my family and I were looking for. The road, while gravel, is well maintained and not busy, so we were able to enjoy many hikes or runs with the with no problem. There is also a nice VAST (snowmobile) trail at the back of the property.

Inside, the cabin had plenty of room and was very cozy. A wall of windows provides really nice views and it is overall well appointed: not luxuriously, but very comfortable. We found many movies and games available to help keep us entertained, but loved just sitting by the fireplace too. We did lots of cooking and had no complaints about the kitchen.

It was wonderful for having a dog on the trip: plenty of space, far enough away from the road to not need to worry about traffic etc.

Overall, we loved our time here and felt it was an unbeatable value.

A few small cons (or not, depending on your perspective): no wifi, a pesky fly problem on the upper level, and the cabin is a solid 20 mins from a large grocery store. Maybe some would prefer another double or queen bed instead of the singles in one of the extra bedrooms.

Spent New Years Eve weekend

  • 4 of 5

This log cabin is very warm and cozy. Beautiful view of Stratton Mountain. About twenty minutes to the mountain. Huge fireplace and well stocked kitchen. Had a great time skiing, putting puzzels together and playing games with the family. Great way to start the new year.
