Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Chicago - Brownstone Near Lincoln Park

5 Bedroom, 5 Bathroom & 1-Car Attached Garage

Exceptional 3700sf Brownstone (sleeps 8-14) located in a Chicago's charming Lincoln Park historical neighborhood.

We’ve previously rented vacation homes in Wisconsin and Nantucket for use by our family and friends and we were disappointed with the availability of large rental homes close to downtown Chicago - although there are plenty of Condos. So, we recently acquired this historic home, which features various sleeping configurations for large multi-generational families on multiple floors, recently updated kitchen and baths, a lower level suite perfect for seniors or an au pair/nanny, 1-car indoor attached garage for parking, nearby parks, shopping and restaurants galore. Similar to our Boston Brownstone available at VRBO Listing #383697, this is a perfect residence for a large multi-generational family's vacation in Chicago, a wedding party's out-of-state relatives, a ladies shopping trip to Magnificent Mile, an executive's temporary assignment to Chicago, an executive attending a Master's Program at Loyola, Trade Show attendees/exhibitors, Chicago marathon runners, a Chef attending Le Cordon Bleu College or an actor during a role in a Chicago Broadway play or musical or in a Chicago filming.

Located at 2000 North Orleans, the residence is located only a short 1-block stroll east to Chicago's historic Lincoln Park (home of the Lincoln Park Zoo and from mid-May a Farmer's Market every Wednesday and Saturday during through Fall) and is about a mile from the famed-North End of Chicago's Magnificent Mile of Michigan Avenue shopping and restaurants.

Nearyby Restaurants include Home of Wrigley Field's StanBurger, Stanley's Bar & Grill, an Original House of Pancakes for a big breakfast, famous for its BBQ Baby Back Ribs is Twin Anchors, but nearby Four Farthings has awesome ribs as well as wonderfully large portions of Italian fare, Trattoria Ricardo's has great Italian as well, on Halsted is Rustic House (a well-kept secret) and Summer House both serving great American fare. Next door to our home is a great Thai restaurant, Geja's upscale Fondue style restaurant and a Subway for a quick casual sandwich. A block away is Mello's for great Italian Beef, Italian Sausage and Combo Sandwiches - guaranteed to fill you up!

In addition, our vacation home is about 1.5 miles to Chicago's infamous intersection of State Street & Rush Avenue, home of the following great gastronmic experiences: Gibson's Steakhouse, Morton's Steakhouse, Tavern on Rush, Hugo's Frog Bar and Fish House, Carmine's Italian, RA Sushi, and Dublin's Irish Pub.

Street Level (Level 1) – (sleeps 6) Entry from 1-car garage off of Orleans Street. Or, enter from the front courtyard lower level entrance directly through the entrance is a Bedroom (King Bed & Sofa Sleeper) perfect for Seniors, Au Pair or Nanny, which has its own Full Bathroom. The Lower Level also includes another ensuite Full Bathroom and Bedroom (two TWIN beds which can be configured as a KING bed upon request). Each lower level bedroom has interior stairs to the next level up and between the two bedrooms is a hallway table with coffee maker and microwave.

Parlor Level (Level 2) - (sleeps 0-2) – Climb the front courtyard stairs to the Main Living Area including Living Room (with Queen Sofa Sleeper), Dining Room (Seats 10), Full Bathroom, and Kitchen and a Deck overlooking the tree terraced Orleans Street (with BBQ).

Third Floor (Level 3) - (sleeps 4-6) – Master Bedroom (King) with ensuite walk-in shower for two, and a Guest Bedroom (King) with ensuite Full Bathroom. Plus, there is a bonus library room with two Day Beds for extra sleeping requirements or simply an area to sit and converse.

Top Floor (Level 4) - small room with desk & printer with an access door to Roof Top Deck - enjoy the sun and views South to the panoramic City of Chicago skyline. If you stand on your tippy toes, you might see Lake Michigan to the East... Plus, it has patio furniture, BBQ & Fridge.

NOTE: The City of Chicago licenses short-term vacation rental properties and collects a 16.4% 'Hospitality Tax.' The licensing process includes a physical inspection of the property. Following our renovations, we have secured our City of Chicago license #2340328. Please become knowledgeable regarding the risks involved of renting an unlicensed vacation home.

WARNING: This property is available exclusively through VRBO and HomeAway and their affiliates. Beware of fraudulent listings on Craig's List using some of our home's photos and descriptions, but maybe using a slightly different address or possibly the same address. We do not advertise on Craig's list or any other sites.

NOTE: We donate 1% of our total revenues in memory of Moreland Grace Stenstrom to the charitable works of The Peapod Project in Chicago (www.thepeapodproject.org), which benefits Chicago's Lurie's Children's Hospital. We thank you.

About Tim Hyland

We love to travel as empty-nesters and spend time with our extended families and friends. Although we primarily live in Scottsdale, Arizona, we love spending time in Chicago and Boston, so we acquired brownstones in both cities to enjoy ourselves and to share with others.

Tim Hyland purchased this house in 2014

Why Tim Hyland chose Chicago

With my parents, sisters, spouses, nieces and nephews and the three of us (my wife and I and our son John), there are 14 of us total. We were unable to find a large short-term rental home in a convenient Chicago area that could sleep all of us comfortably, so we acquired this perfect property furnished it to do just that - just awaiting our City of Chicago vacation rental license.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location. Just a block from Chicago's historic Lincoln Park and a mile from the North End of the Magnificent Mile shopping district on Michigan Avenue, the location is perfect! You will not be disappointed!

FABULOUS HOME!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house the minute my niece got engaged last year and we were pleasantly surprised at how fantastic the property is. It far exceeded our expectations! We had 7 adults and 2 children and the house accommodated all of us with room to spare! The natural light that comes in through the kitchen windows in the morning was breathtaking! The location is central to so many Chicago activities and we were able to walk or ride bikes to places like the zoo, the beach, the grocery store! I grew up in Chicago and I felt so much more at home in this house than when we stay at the downtown hotels. The owners have done a great job stocking the house with everything necessary for a comfortable and luxurious stay! We will be planning many more stays at this location in the future!

Best Rental and Location in Chicago

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rental property itself was absolutely perfect and could not have been in a better spot as a central location for getting to places like downtown and Wrigleyville. The surrounding restaurants, bars, and stores are all within a short walk and we all really enjoyed getting to see history that the Lincoln Park area of Chicago has to offer. One of the best times of the trip for our group was hanging out on the rooftop and enjoying the Chicago skyline and scenery. Tim was so accommodating and made the booking, check-in, and check-out process so easy, and he was the best host that anyone could ask for, providing excellent recommendations and information for you Chicago vacation. Like most reviewers have stated, while the photos of the rental provide you with great details of the property, you must actually see the inside and outside of the property to really take in the absolute beauty of the rental. I would highly recommend Tim's place to anyone that has a large group coming to Chicago for any occasion. I hope that one day I am able to go back to experience the stay all over again!

Majestic Home in Lincoln Park

  • 5 of 5

It's difficult to explain how spectacular this home really is - the pictures don't do it justice!

I rented this home for my college sorority reunion - we had 11 of us and everyone had plenty of room for sleeping, meals, and socializing. The activities that we enjoyed were all in walking distance: Lincoln Park Zoo, rented the Divvy bikes for a ride on the Lakefront, excellent restaurants: Perennial Virant, J. Parker Rooftop Bar, Summer House, and even a show at Second City. The attention to detail in the house was evident from the decorating to the amenities. The kitchen is very well stocked, plenty of dishes, pantry space, wine glasses, etc. It even comes with a garage space! We enjoyed the patios and the rooftop in the house - we had fabulous weather! I would live in this house if I could! I love it! Thanks Tim for being such a fantastic host and sharing your gorgeous home! I will be back!

Met all expectations!!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property for my daughters graduation from medical school. There were 10 of us. The house is really great. It has everything you need and is in a fantastic location, great for all ages. We loved all the different areas in the house from middle floor patio to rooftop patio, out front patio, to dining room and kitchen. The house is well equipped and we also loved it at is was very Chicago for us ( We are from California). The owner was also very available for any issues and concerns we might have had. If I were to find one thing not 100% ideal and there is only one, its the availability of parking. One car no worries but two can become a hassle. There is a parking garage a very short walk but on one night we found it full when there was a nearby show on.

Superior, excellent, great, premiere, elegant, perfect . . .I wish I could think of more adjectives!

  • 5 of 5

Ours was a family week and the house was perfectly suited to that. The elegant house, which is beautifully appointed, is in an absolutely perfect location. We could walk to many destinations and Uber helped us with the rest. Suggestions provided by our hosts were very helpful. Each bedroom is like a luxury hotel room with extremely comfortable beds and total guest amenities. While we are not much for cooking on our holidays, the gourmet kitchen has every imaginable utensil for a gourmet cook I saw obscure things like a punch bowl and ice cream scoop! One could host a major party in that house. We did make good use of the wine fridge, which is another unusual item in a vacation rental. If you were to make a list of your requirements/wishes for a vacation rental, I suspect this house would have every item on your list. The housekeepers must be amazing as the house was spotless with everything in place when we arrived. I never wanted to leave!
