Welcome to our lovely house on Elk Ave in the historic centre of Crested Butte dating back from 1890. The house is located at the quiet end of Elk Avenue opposite the book and coffee shop. It has a lovely grassy garden with mature trees, hammock and deck chairs to sit and watch the world go by. It has off street parking. BBQ. Many hiking and biking trails are a few minutes walk from the house. After a long day hiking or biking, visit one of the many great restaurants and bars only a minute walk away. The cinema, bakery, shuttle bus to the ski base are 2 minutes walk. One block from the Four Way Stop free shuttle bus stop makes getting to the mountain simple.
The house has original oak floors throughout. We purchased the house in spring 2014 and have replaced all the furniture, beds and mattresses. There is a king bed in the master bedroom and 2 twins that can be converted to a king in the second bedroom. There is a magnificent reclaimed teak day bed in the lounge which can be used as an additional twin bed.
The house has a flat screen TV, wifi and plenty of board games.
My family and I first visited Crested Butte in 2006. We immediately fell in love with the area and have been coming every winter since. We have lived in the British Virgin Islands for the last 26 years so are used to living in a small community. We fell in love with the uniqueness of the town and the friendliness of the people. But is only took one visit in the summer to be totally hooked. As soon as this lovely house in the centre of the historic district came up for sale I knew I would be spending a lot more time in Crested Butte!
Jane purchased this house in 2014
It's all about location. Being located on Elk Avenue, life is so easy. Stroll across the road in the morning to either Rumours or Camp 4 for a cappuccino and fresh baked pastry. Don't worry about driving in the evening after a night out at any one of the huge selection of great restaurants and bars. The atmosphere in town is something really special. The local farmers market is just at the end of the road, the Arts Festival, Mardi Gras parade, Big Air on Elk, 4th July Parade are all right there. The local bus stop to the mountain is 1/2 a block away. The cinema, 2 blocks away. Crested Butte is such a unique and friendly town that being right in the center makes being here all the more special. Many hiking trails are within a short walk of the house, free buses access many more trails. In the winter there are free buses to the ski slopes and many of the nordic trails start a few minutes walk from the house. Crested Butte is such a special town!
This house is on a quiet part of Elk St. Easy to walk anywhere in town. We took the shuttle to ski, 2 blocks from the front door. All our favorite places are within 5 min. House is nice and clean, beds were comfortable. We would stay in this house again.
Clean, cute, cosy! two minutes from the bus stop and Opposite a coffee shop and a ton of other shops.
Jane (the owner) is also a wonderful person!
Best location in Crested Butte right on Elk Avenue. Walk to everything and easy shuttle/bus service to mountain just a block away. Super warm and cozy home with great light. Fantastic master bed with a great matters after a day hiking or skiing. Everything you need to have a comfortable and memorable Crested Butte vacation.
Great house in an amazing location. Literally across the road from the coffee shop. Right down town but still really quiet. Best mattress I've ever slept on! Cozy and quaint. We'll be back!
You simply cannot beat the location of this property. It's situated on Elk and is quite literally only a minute or two walk from all the eateries and places of libation Elk street has to offer. If there's any ding, it would be that there is no TV service offered outside of an HD antennae so you will only get the local channels. The owner has attached an HDMI/mini-DVI cable so one could hook up their laptop to play movies (probably more important if you have kids) or if you want to Netflix and chill.
The amenities of the house are more than adequate however the upstairs bathroom sink is quite small. The upstairs bedroom has a king bed and the bedroom on the first floor has two twins. The couch in the living room is more like a full so that could double as a bed if necessary.
All in all, we were quite happy here with both our kids and would recommend it strongly to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Crested Butte.
Walked everywhere including a wedding venue, restaurants and hikes! Perfect place for two couples or larger family. Lots of space in the kitchen and dining room, well equipped and comfortable.
