We are 4 sisters who invested in a dreamy lake front place to enjoy and share. Our motto is "A place to get away that feels like home".
The location on the eastern shore of White Lake provides beautiful sunset views every night. Our two charming towns (Montague and Whitehall) are loaded with personality and great people. Deep water channel to Lake MI provides great boating options. Cottage wonder year round. Ice fish, snow mobile and cross country ski in the winter; bike, bird watch, golf, sail, kayak, fish or beach lounge throughout the spring, summer and fall. And Wineries, live theater, great local music.... We LOVE this place!
Our stay was great! It was comfortable, cozy and felt like home. We were extremely satisfied with the accommodations. With a toddler who goes to bed around 7/7:30, we found ourselves with a lot of free time and wifi would have been nice but we did see games and brought books, so it wasn't a necessity. We were perfectly comfortable and happy. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We would love to make it a thanksgiving tradition to stay there during our future visit!
We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the front yard in the evenings. Nice sunsets. Cottage had everything we needed. Would come again.
Very nice property with a great view and access to the lake. The house was much roomier than the pictures indicated. The place was completely furnished. It had every amenity needed for a vacation. It was extremely clean and all the furnishings seemed new. I highly recommend this rental property.
Thanks for opening your cottage to us. The house was clean and cozy and ample room. Well stocked supplies. Some room for improvement for the comfort of the mattresses and the sectional. Beautiful front yard and was able to enjoy the sunsets in the evening. Great access to the bike path. Good location, close to the town of Whitehall and Muskegon. Went to the Country Dairy in New Era. Spent the day in Muskegon. Canoeing at the Happy Mohawk. Went to the Council for the Arts in Montague.
Sunset cottage was a terrific experience for my family. The home is located in a neighborhood, however, the lake property is just across a two lane road. The fishing was great off their pier. We also visited Duck Lake, a state park with two beaches and Meinert park near the White Lake Channel. As for the cottage, it was very comfortable and clean. The hosts provided amble amenities including linens, TV's, kitchenware and supplies for a nice bonfire. What impressed us most was the accessibility of the hosts. If you need a suggestion or information, Tonja or Che'rie were always happy to help. The two cities Whitehall and Montague are so close together, you will visit both frequently. We really enjoyed Gary's restaurant for breakfast and had authentic Mexican food at a humble place called Taqueria Diaz - delicious. We bought take-out pizza from the Pizza Joint (next to Gary's), the deep dish cheese pizza was incredible! For groceries, we visited Montague foods a lot. On Saturday's and Wednesday's, there is a small farmer's market downtown that was worth the visit. We cannot recommend Villa Venafro Restaurant. The food was bland and heavy, for a house salad they put a slice of pepperoni on a fist full of iceberg, ugh! It's a 30 minute drive to Pentwater which is a nice day trip. If you are looking for a good vacation experience, we would definitely recommend Sunset cottage. BTW, the sunset's were beautiful.
We knew the area and were looking for a place close to Duck Lake State Park & this delivered. It was larger than we expected with two bedrooms, two full baths, fully equipped full kitchen, laundry, dining/living room, & family room. Great sunset view of White Lake from patio swing. All on one level with car port which made it easy to load and unload. Cable TV with many channels. Great location for White Lake area. Easy to get to. Two small issues were raised on departure by email and they were immediately addressed. My 5-year old left his beloved stuffed dog behind & a hand carry was arranged the next day by somebody heading this way. Will book again :-)
Great spot right on the lake. We have stayed in many of the places on White Lake and many are quite rough. This one is one of the better houses with great views and plenty of amenities. Every room has a ceiling fan and a new washer and dryer help to dry out clothes after a day on the lake. Great yard with lots of flowers and room for a dog to roam. Dock and swim beach are a nice bonus. The road can be a little busy during the day, so those with small children need to be aware.
