Aesthetically pleasing inside and out. Lot's of windows to let the light in and to give you a view of the meadow and sky. An open floor plan that allows space to cook, play games, and dance. A main floor with bathroom, upstairs with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting area, and laundry room. Each floor 768 sq ft. There is a deck/porch to relax and watch the day go by. This private, but accessible, house is on County Road 7, just 1.5 miles off of Hwy 61. You can run or bike right out the door or drive to the many nearby trail heads. Grand Marais, a vibrant community with fabulous dining options, art galleries and home to The Art Colony and North House Folk School is an easy 7 miles away.
I fell in love with the north shore when I moved here in my twenties. The landscape, definitely harsh at times, with it's seasonal drama and beauty continues to grip me and hold me in awe. I love to travel, but I continue to call this place home.
Presently my work is as an RN at the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in Grand Marais. Hopefully you will not need to visit here, but if you do you will realize why we feel so lucky to have this Community Health Clinic as our health care facility. I am also known for my landscape work and ceramic art. A work of note is the Angry Trout Bathroom. Enjoy a yummy meal and then take a side trip to the bathroom to check out my work.
I also have an adventurous side and have put in many miles on the trails and waterways of this area as well as elsewhere.
Joyce Klees purchased this house in 2012
A beautiful house with a stunning interior: richly painted walls and lot's of art , property that is centrally located and accessible. This is a winner! I instantly felt at home here and I hope you will too.
Aesthetically pleasing with it's rich colors, high ceilings, many windows, and modern clean design.
The kitchen offers an enjoyable cooking space and the open floor plan makes entertaining easy.
The claw foot bathtub is a place to relax and soak.
This house with it's many windows and views offers a range of places to sit and read.
This home is a great place to stay while exploring Grand Marais and the surrounding area. While being off the beaten path, it was easy to find and the house itself is very cute and comfortable. The large windows let in plenty of light and the view was beautiful. We love the North Shore and appreciated having such a lovely place to come back to after long days of running around.
This is a lovely house with lots of room. It has beautiful big windows and a quiet peaceful setting. Nicely set up and with great artwork. I would certainly rent this again. It is a very nice house.
We had a great time in your lovely home and were pleased with the decorations and furnishings. Although there was no view to Lake Superior, the view of nature was very calming and peaceful. The only thing I would recommend would be to update outdoor furniture. The house was located in a good location for sightseeing, dining and shopping. Thank you for allowing us to make some wonderful family memories!
We just completed our second stay here. This year we stayed 8 nights and were sad to leave. The house is so comfortable and clean. Located a few short minutes from Grand Marais and an easy drive up the Gunflint.
We had several rainy days and our boys were so content to just be at the house playing Legos for hours at the kitchen table. Beautiful windows everywhere with lovely private views.
Joyce is so responsive and accommodating. We can't wait to return!!!
Thank you Joyce for another wonderful stay full of memories in your cozy, beautiful and charming home.
Thank you for sharing your place with us and some others! The location was perfect for our stay. We were close to all the hikes that we wanted to do on our vacation and we made room for some others as well. The home was clean and well kept and had all of the things that we needed for our time away. The grill came in very handy and we used it twice to cook. The rooms were spacious and inviting and we were well rested after being out for most of the day. So much to do on the North Shore and never enough time to fit it all in when you're on vacation but we look forward to staying at your place again sometime and continue our North Shore adventures. I would definitely recommend this place to others, but then I would be nervous that they would have it booked and we would need to pick a different spot or another time. I'll still tell friends and family about it anyway. I would tell anyone who stays here to go and check out Voyageur Brewing Company in Grand Marais. Great beer, but an even better pretzel with beer cheese. This would also be the perfect place to come in the winter time and just hole up with good people, good food, and some games and just have a nice time relaxing and spending time with friends. Thank you again for sharing your place with us! It was a very much needed get a way for our family!
We had a wonderful week. We loved the house. It was so peaceful there and yet close to Grand Marais. The owner was prompt in responding when a night storm caused a circuit breaker to trip. We all agree that we would stay there again.
