About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

The Cabin in the Woods is a private oasis set on a large forested creekside acreage with private walking trails and abundant wildlife. Custom-built by the owners, this beautifully furnished log cabin features a view of nature from every room.

Located approximately 20 minutes west of the lovely Pigeon Lake Village, this property is close enough to enjoy shopping, restaurants, spa, golf course, and community amenities while far enough away for peace and relaxation.

The modern kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities needed to make complete meals, and include pantry staples to get you started - things like tea, coffee, condiments, spices, and more.

Fill your days with relaxation, from sitting on the deck enjoying a morning coffee, reading, board games, walking, drawing, yoga, to enjoying the hot tub while viewing the stars in the dark sky. This property with the log cabin set among the trees has a "Jasper like" feel - within an hour and a half to Edmonton, and is $349 Canadian/night for up to 4 people.

The loft has an expansive view of the creek and forest and includes one queen bed and one twin bed. Two bedrooms on the main level, each with a double bed have views of the forest. Comfortably sleeps up to maximum of 6 people. There is one large bathroom with a bath/shower combination. For those desiring a rustic experience, we have a log outhouse!

You will find an indoor wood burning fireplace with a supply of firewood at your doorstep, an outdoor fire pit and small BBQ.

Please note: This is a non-smoking property. NO parties, including bachelor or bachelorette parties, or events are permitted.

Other activities that can be found in the area include fishing at Buck Lake, swimming at Twin Lakes, and local farmers markets in the summer. There are golf courses in the area and the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskiwin.

This natural park-like setting is a terrific base for exploring Edmonton, central Alberta and the surrounding area, including Rocky Mountain House - gateway to Canada's National Parks.

The cabin is about an hour from the Edmonton airport, and a little over 2 hours from the Calgary airport. For a scenic tour including the Rocky Mountains start in Calgary, head up the Cowboy Trail (highway 22), spend a few nights at our cabin, continue on to Jasper, then head south on the Ice Field Parkway to Lake Louise, Banff, and Canmore, returning to Calgary. This route also works well starting in Edmonton.

We look forward to sharing our piece of paradise and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Beautiful home to go with beautiful surroundings!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 3 others rented this cabin for the Canada Day long weekend. We were looking for a place that was close to the city but felt a million miles from anywhere and we got exactly that. Katherine was accommodating and made the experience feel very personal. We had everything we could need to enjoy the house and it's amenities. I highly recommend the hiking trail! We found wild strawberries and raspberries plus the sights were incredible.

For my fellow urbanites, it may take a little adjusting to having windows with no curtains/blinds, even in the bedrooms and bathroom but you are secluded so you will get used to it.

I'd highly recommend this rental to get away from it all but in luxury!

Cosy well appointed cabin in a picturesque setting

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed the quiet and serene setting to relax from the hustle bustle. there was no sound other than from nature when outside. The kitchen is well appointed and there is a relaxing hot tub. Everything was very clean and well set up. There are few trails on the property itself and we saw quite a few varieties of birds right from the deck.

Welcoming, Beautiful Cabin.

  • 5 of 5

The Cabin in the Woods is the perfect setting to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature. It is in a beautiful clearing overlooking a little creek and the woods. It was set up with everything we needed to cook and enjoy our stay. Everything was clean and cozy, which was perfect as it hailed and rained that weekend but we were warm and content in the cabin with the wood burning stove and an abundance of chopped wood neatly stacked right outside the door. We even went on a short hike on a marked trail through the property, a really nice walk on springy moss. I would definitely recommend this cabin. Wonderful setting, easy drive from Edmonton, and the cabin is welcoming and beautiful.

Girls Weekend

  • 3 of 5

I spent the weekend in this beautiful cabin with a group of girlfriends for a weekend away. The cabin is secluded and peaceful with many amenities and beautiful scenery. It was exactly what we were looking for. It is just a short hour and twenty minutes from Edmonton making it a quick and convenient getaway with walking trails and lakes nearby. The cabin was clean and well kept with everything we needed for the weekend. The owner, Katherine, was approachable and easy to get a hold of. One problem we encountered was that the septic tank was full on our arrival so we could not use the shower/bath and were asked not to use too much water. The outhouse was close by and nice compared to the average outhouse but not what we were expecting for a girls weekend away. Katherine, was very apologetic and hopeful that the tank would be emptied during our stay, but unfortunately it was not. It was disappointing as a few of my guests decided to leave early as a result of this. No compensation was offered.

Owner's Response: We like to anticipate all our guests needs, and ensure the cabin is fully ready for their stay. In this instance, we unexpectedly discovered that the previous guests had somehow managed to almost completely fill a tank that accommodates five months of normal use. In addition to trying to arrange/restore full function and notify the guest, we left a small gift in appreciation of their understanding along with a note detailing the situation. We have a hot tub at the property that was available for their use, and kept in touch with the guest throughout the weekend. In this kind of situation we would rather have a guest conserve water, rather than find them in the position of experiencing a system that could not accommodate anything more. It is unfortunate service could not be fully restored during their two night stay. No compensation was requested, and we were not aware of early guest departure until doing a follow up.
