About Mike and Judy Denis

Mike and Judy Denis grew up in Daytona Beach. Attended Seabreeze High School before leaving Fla. for careers.

Mike and Judy Denis purchased this apartment in 1958

Why Mike and Judy Denis chose Daytona Beach

Mike missed the sound of the ocean, so he returned to Fla., where he purchased the 1925 home from his parents. Mike and Judy have done extensive renovations to the home.

What makes this apartment unique

Mike and Judy renovated the downstairs guest apartment with a nautical theme, and named it The Boat House finishing in Spring 2014. The apartment is two bedrooms; the master has a queen size pine rice bed, the smaller has a single daybed with pull out trundle that can convert to a king size bed.. There is one updated bathroom with glass block shower. Spacious living room with a queen size sleeper sofa, recliner, flat screen TV. There is a large remodeled eat-in kitchen with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, table and chairs. There is a tiled front porch with table and chairs to enjoy the cool ocean breeze, or sit in the porch rockers. The house is a short walk to the beach and Splash park. In 2015, The Parrot Perch, a studio cottage located behind the main house was completed. The cottage is perfect for two people with a queen futon, kitchen area with breakfast bar, and tiled bath with shower. Cottage guests are also free to use the hot tub, third floor deck for sunning and ocean views, barbeque grill and beach toys, see VRBO listing #817172.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We really loved this place. It's very comfortable, it's clean and there are a lot of commodities nearby. The owner and his wife are welcoming and nice, always ready to help if needed. Without hesitation, we recommend this place. We only have good things to say about it. We were very pleased by our experience.

Spectacular vacation

We felt blessed to have been able to stay at the Boat House. Mike and Judy have a wonderful property and they went above and beyond what we expected. We had our 11 year old grandson with us. Their property is a short block to the beach. They have all you could possibly want to take to the beach - even beach towels! They had games and movies as well. We will definitely stay there again.

What can we say but, AWESOME!! My daughter and I stayed in this cozy home for 8 days and although it was mostly a business trip, we had a great time. It was so convenient to shopping, restaurants, etc. yet located in a quiet neighborhood. The beach view everyday from the house was so great. Although we weren't able to enjoy the beach as often as we wanted, my daughter and I enjoyed our quiet morning and evening walks on the beach. The hosts were so helpful and kind. We loved meeting Couv and the neighborhood cats. :) The state park at Ponce Inlet was so convenient to take our therapy dogs for their first encounter seeing the beach and swimming in the ocean. They even got to swim with manatees. How awesome is that!! We definitely want to make another trip to the Boat House but this time, NO BUSINESS. Thank you Mike and Judy for being such gracious hosts!! We look forward to seeing you again. :) ;)

Stunning and Precious

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent our vacation at this adorable location. The house was PERFECT! Everything we needed and could have anticipated. The owners are AMAZING! The location to the beach was AWESOME! Close to area attractions and wonderful restaurants. Breakfast on front porch, quiet times on the patio, and drinks on the rooftop. I will be recommending this home to friends and family.

Awesome vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our Daytona vacation! The house was perfect for our needs (2 adults and 2 kids). We loved the front porch, hot tub and rooftop deck. The owners provided everything we needed to enjoy the beach: boogie boards, wagon, chairs, toys, bikes, etc. The beach was just a short walk from the house. The interior of the house was very comfortable, clean and attractively decorated. The owners had clearly tried to think of everything we might need including sweetener for our coffee! It was a wonderful week at the beach; we cannot wait to come back!

If you are looking for a perfect vacation spot, this is it. You can hear the ocean from the front porch where we enjoyed morning coffee and evening meals. You can see the ocean from the rooftop deck. If you walk past the neighbor’s house and one empty corner lot you can see the ocean. Walk through one hotel parking lot and you’re at the public beach area complete with showers, restrooms, and lifeguards.

Mike and Judy have deck boxes with everything you need to take to the beach: chairs, toys, umbrella, cooler. Sunscreen is in the kitchen. There is even a little cart to haul everything to and from heaven.

The rental apartment is more of a home than my own home and very clean. It is tastefully decorated with a delightful ocean theme. Everything you need to cook anything is in the kitchen. And a dishwasher to clean it all up. If you want to grill, there’s one of those too. And this place is not like those efficiency studio places where you have to go out and buy a bunch of extras. There are paper towels, dish soap, sponges, soap for the dishwasher and did I mention the washer and dryer? Soap for that too. Trash bags, Iron, ironing board, sheets, towels, beach towels, and extra pillows in the closet. That was a major plus for me since I sleep with four.

My friend had the master bedroom and I had the guest room. This was a slight disappointment when I saw it consisted of a fold out sofa and a dresser. But let me tell you it was more comfortable than my own guestroom. Do not be fooled by appearances. The TV has a million channels and I encourage Mike and Judy to put a channel guide into their book. Oh yes, books too. A very nice library selection. CD player, games for kids.

You only need to bring shorts, shirts, shoes, and a bathing suit.
