A warm welcome awaits you at Chez Beaugis, a traditional Charentais cottage situated in one of the sunniest and friendliest regions of France. It is surrounded by the peaceful Charente countryside with it's fields of sunflowers, with wild flowers in the Spring. Located in a small hamlet, but only a few minutes drive from Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure.The cottage was built around 1830 and has been fully renovated, retaining original features such as stonewalls, beams and original terracotta floor tiles. There is a lovely sunny courtyard, and at the rear of the cottage there is a secluded garden where the above ground pool measuring 3.5 diameter and 1 metre deep is situated. The cottage is fully equipped for all your self-catering needs for your winter or summer holiday rental. It is a perfect place to relax all year round. Lynn & Ken the owners will be on hand to welcome you and ensure that your stay is a relaxing & enjoyable one.

Chez Beaugis: Sit back and relax in the sunshine or if you are feeling more energetic, head out of the gate and take a walk through the many fields of sunflowers that surround us. Chasseneuil 3 kms away is a small market town, where you can find a heated swimming pool (The roof opens in the summer), wine cave, pizzeria, various restaurants, bars, tempting boulangeries, boucheries and supermarché. There is a small market on Saturday & Wednesday mornings where you can buy fresh local produce including oysters and local cheeses. The monument to the French Resistance & museum is also nearby. Just a short journey in any direction you will find quaint villages and medieval towns with shops, markets and many good restaurants. There are also many festivals throughout the summer.

Places of interest: Wine tasting at nearby St Sornin where you can try before you purchase the excellent local wines. Velorail at Confolens & Roumaziers follow an old rail track that winds it way through the high lands on the Charente/Limousine border, past viaducts, rivers and meadows. Canoe hire on the at Mansle. Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for a lovely week in a super house which was really well equipped - you really don't need to bring anything at all. Very quite surroundings and a lovely pool which we really appreciated after several hot days (30deg+) We had a nice walk around the ramparts at Angouleme, boat trip at Jarnac, visit to Confolens & pedalos at the lake. It was especially nice to share a drink and a chat with Lynn & Ken one evening!

Simply The Best

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in a number of gites over the years and this was simply the best. Fantastic to arrive hot & tired and have cold beer & wine as part of the welcome pack! Gite was superbly equipped & cool in hot weather. Lynn & Ken very helpful & hospitable. Beautiful location, lovely gardenwith lots of sun & shade, great to relax in the pool watching butterflies on the buddleia. Excellent restaurants & well stocked supermarkets nearby & amazing pain au raisin at local patisserie. We all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and hope to return.

Lovely relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage with a lovely garden. It was really hot during our visit so the pool got a lot of use. Lovely to relax in the garden and watch the birds and butterflies. Really enjoyed kayaking on the river at Rejallant and swimming after too. You can get icecreams at the restaurant there. Lunch in the surprising garden of Le Bonnieure was also good. Ken and Lynn were welcoming hosts without being intrusive.

Beautiful cottage with everything you could want!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage in a perfect area for exploring. Lynn and Ken were fabulous hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely to meet the gorgeous Lily cat too! The cottage has everything you need for a relaxed home from home. The welcome basket of goodies was much appreciated! Amazing pool which was much needed with the warm weather we were so lucky to have. Will definitely recommend and hope to be back again soon. Thank you both very much.

Real home from home

  • 5 of 5

Nothing is too much bother for Lynn and Ken, from the welcome basket of food to finding local activities we said we were interested in. The welcome pack has so much local knowledge, and the house had everything we needed for the most delightful stay. We're already planning a future trip with family. All I can say is thank you so much, it's true you do leave all stress behind when coming here!

It has a large covered market, you will also find an excellent range of shops and restaurants.
