About Jim and Maura Otzko

My wife and I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and moved to the Milwaukee area when we had our kids. We lived there for 10 years before coming down permanatly to Cape Coral. My 12 year old son is currently attending Gulf Middle School, our 2 daughters ( 16 & 19) attended St. Andrews for grade school before moving on to Bishop Verot high school in Ft. Myers where my younger daughter still attends.

We live in the southwest Cape should you need any assistance on where to boat or rent a boat, dine or find a unique Florida experience.

Why Jim and Maura Otzko chose Burnt Store

We have spent 23 years in Cape Coral and loved this particular area when we first set eyes on it. We love gazing out over the Mangroves and watch the fish jumping in the canal with Eagles and Hawks flying overhead. We just feel it is so serene and peaceful, yet, when we want entertainment, there's lots to do nearby.

What makes this house unique

Movies, the beaches in Sanibel, Captiva, and Cape Coral are all great for the family. Miniature golf, the batting cages and activity center at Greenwells is nearby. Try your hand at sculling and take lessons. Go to Ariani's for Chef Ariani's Classic Italian food for 23 years. For more typical fare try the Olive Garden, Outback and Foster's grill right down the road. The nearby German-American Club features a fabulous Octoberfest with authentic bands from Germany, food and drink on acres of property. Dante's Grill, Bonefish Grill ( try Wenesday night happy hour for 1/2 price wine, appetizers and their Bang-Bang shrimp) and Carrabbas closeby.

Take the kids to the Cape Corsal Water Park durin the summer months.

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 7 weeks at this wonderful home. Cought several crabs in the trap. Fishing....not so much at this time of year. The location is near shopping and restaurants. A newer neighborhood with a fair amount of construction. The home is cozy and well decorated I would recommend this home for an enjoyable time in southern Florida. We were there in March 2017 thru the end of April.

Winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I escape to Cape Coral for 6 weeks every winter. This home was awesome! The location is very convenient to restaurants and shopping. Such a quiet street - no traffic noises. The mattresses are extremely comfortable - and the kitchen is well supplied. Décor is beautiful.

The view is wonderful and the canal is so peaceful with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Viewed dolphins, alligators and on the preserve across the canal - wild hogs and coyotes. Jim & Maura are dedicated to the comfort of their guests and are very responsive to any issues or questions. Booked 7 weeks in 2018 - can't wait.

Quick getaway to Cape Coral

  • 5 of 5

We live in Miami and when the kids had a few days off from school in October, we decided to plan a short trip to Cape Coral. We have been to Cape Coral numerous times and really enjoy the area and availability of watersports. We had a great stay in this house. It was very spacious for a family of five with fantastic views. I rented a boat for the length of our stay and very easy to dock out back given the very wide canal. In the evenings we also did some fishing from the dock out back. I'm used to Cape Coral canal fishing with plenty of catfish (which kids still enjoy catching), but was surprised to also catch some Redfish and Snapper. The kids had a great time in the pool and we enjoyed cooking out on the grill. Having a Publix close makes it very easy to pick up supplies. Jim was very nice to work with and very knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time and can't wait until we can return.

Best Rental Ever!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in your beautiful home could not have been better! The home is located away from busy roadways so it is extremely quiet and being located on a canal with a wild preserve on the opposite shore is another plus. We saw manatees, a dolphin and a variety of birds. The spacious home is well equipped with EVERYTHING we needed plus some. The master suite is incredible and is well separated from the other two bedrooms. We spent a lot of time in the lanai and a swim in the large pool was a daily "must". There are a number of parks with trails to walk in the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area and of couse, there is the beautiful beach at Lovers Key. We have been taking a winter vacation in Floride for a number of years and have decided this home was the BEST! We look forward to returning again!!

Beautiful home in Cape Coral

  • 5 of 5

Just enjoyed a great vacation in this wonderful home in Cape Coral Florida. It has a beautiful view out the back right on a canal which is very secluded. This is right across from a mangrove which has tons of wildlife. We were able to fish right out the back on the canal and caught many fish. We also enjoyed the beautiful pool which is screened in. The house itself is beautiful, the kitchen is very modern with all the cooking utensils anyone would need. The area is a well kept secret if you want to get away from all the tourist. Just having some peace in this home was well worth it!!
