About the property

In November 2016 massive fires destroyed much of the Gatlinburg area, doing major damage to the resort. Westgate began a high speed project to rebuild what was destroyed and add new amenities. Like the entire area they are open for business! I invite you to view the video later after the pictures section.

Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Spa is an incredibly themed mountainside resort with world class accommodations and amenities. Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Spa sits on approximately 255 acres, with 55 acres developed, adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the largest national park East of the Rockies.

Westgate Smokehouse Grill features award-winning barbecue and a wide selection of salads, sandwiches and entrees. Our savory ribs won the People's Choice award at the 2008 Gatlinburg Rib Fest. The Smokehouse Grill serves breakfast and dinner daily. For kids, the restaurant features a children's menu. The adjacent Mason Jar Lounge is the place to be when you want to catch your favorite sporting events, enjoy appetizers and snacks along with your favorite beverage.

Westgate's Wild Bear Falls is the latest expansion to Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort. This mountain-themed world-class family indoor water park features a state-of-the-art retractable roof, taking Mother Nature out of the equation! Guests can enjoy comfortable conditions year round. At more than 60,000 square feet, it is the largest indoor/outdoor water park resort in the South and fifth largest in the country. 300,000 gallons of water flow through the park daily.

Escape to the new Serenity Spa by Westgate and indulge in a mountain hot stone massage, manicure, pedicure or facial. Enjoy a vacation for the senses and let our fully licensed staff pamper you with the 5-star service we are known for. The Fitness Center has a full line of treadmills, cross trainers and cardio machines with state-of-the-art weight stack equipment.

Within Gatlinburg and neighboring Pigeon Forge, you'll find a dazzling selection of Vegas-style revues, country souvenir shopping, and arts and crafts.

I recommend you do some pre visit research if you have never been to Gatlinburg. You can be over whelmed by the number of places wanting your money & discounts, coupons are available. There is a convenience store on site, a liquor store just off resort property and 2 Food Club groceries within 5 miles. You should use the trolley to visit Gatlinburg; it is cheap, easily accessible, convenient, parking downtown is pricey and traffic can be difficult. Use the by pass when visiting National Park, Cades Cove which is gotta see & Cherokee, NC to avoid going thru Gatlinburg. If you hike or shoot photos, love nature, fly fish etc. there is no better place than the Smoky Mountains.

Car: recommended

Westgate Smoky Mountain is located across US 441 from the visitor's center on the Gatlinburg Parkway. You are equal distance from both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Trout streams run along your route.

Pigeon Forge has numerous restaurants, attractions, shopping outlets, DollyWood Theme Park & Water Park and is accessible by the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge trolley system.

Gatlinburg is probably the most visited small city in the US. Besides shopping, various attractions & restaurants there are some unique things to do. Moonshine & wine tasting, cable car ride to the mountain top Ober Gatlinburg theme park with many things to do there or you can ride a chairlift at a 90 degree angle up the side of a mountain.

Great Smoky Mt. National Park is the most visited National Park, besides breathtaking views an early morning drive can yield bear & other wildlife sightings. Stop at the Sugarland visitor center for information, hiking & waterfall trail maps, Park Ranger demonstrations.

Cades Cove is another must visit on your trip. It is an 11 mile loop you can drive, bike & even see by horseback. One hundred years ago over a hundred brave hardworking settlers lived, labored, worshipped & died. Wildlife is everywhere, original farm structures, churches, a working grist mill and cemeteries. It is a beautiful place for a picnic.

Harrah's Cherokee Casino, Mingo Falls & numerous other falls, plus more attractions, events, food choices then one can possibly enjoy with one visit.
