We purchased this cabin in 2004 as a relaxing getaway from our life in the city. We love the property with it's breathtaking views of Whiteface Mountain and the sound of the babbling brook in the private wooded backyard. It's the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
We had an excellent stay at the cabin. It was the perfect size for our group and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The cabin was very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable and it was nice that it had 2 bathrooms. It is very close to Whiteface and a short drive to the sights and entertainment of Lake Placid. I would recommend the cabin to anyone that is looking for a cabin somewhat secluded, but also close to Whiteface and Lake Placid.
The house was great and had everything that we needed for sleeping, cooking, etc. The hot tub is a nice touch, clean and in easy working condition. The house is very close to Whiteface mountain and conveniently next door to a bar and restaurant for an easy bite. Check in/out were quick and easy.
Nice Cabin, private, quiet. No great views. If you want a home base to explore this spectacular area of the Adirondacks then this cabin should fit your needs. Owner response was prompt although management assistance to refill propane tank was poor.
Stayed 5 nights at the Pine Hill Cabin. Very clean and comfortable. It was an ideal spot to explore the High Peaks area. as well as Lake Placid and Burlington, Vermont. The ferry from Essex, NY to Charlotte, Vermont has great views of both the ADKs and Green Mts. It is well worth the trip if you have time. The only problem we had was the cabin was double booked for 3 of the 5 nights we were there. We did stay the full time we were booked for, but 2 other couples showed up at 10:00 pm on our first night and had to be relocated by the booking agent. We ran into them 2 days later and they said everything had worked out OK. Just be sure to check the day before you go to make sure there is no problem.
This cabin in Wilmington was perfect for our stay. My husband and I and our three twenty-something daughters were very comfortable here; 2 bathrooms was so helpful! The kitchen had just about everything we needed. (Never found a can opener.) We had a nice outdoor fire. Would have liked an outdoor table but all the Adirondack chairs were a plus! AC and fans were appreciated!
We hiked Whiteface Mountain so the location could not have been any better for that yet we could walk into town for anything we needed or wanted to do. We went for a great 9-mile bike ride leaving right from the driveway!
We would definitely come back for another stay.
The cabin was perfect for our needs. Stayed for 1 week. Access to Lake Placid and activities to the north as well were all easily accessible from this location. BBQ for use and back porch to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. Several floor fans for any warmer days or nights. Walkable local Wilmington restaurants, etc. Great location to access various trails and Whiteface summit.
I can't say anything about the quality of the cabin, and it does sound nice. But my group got double booked for this cabin on July 4th weekend. Arrived at the cabin to find another group already there. Had to scramble to find somewhere else to say. The owner did end up finding us another place to stay, but by then we had already checked in to a motel (which we were relieved to find on a holiday weekend!). Be VERY careful booking this place, there seems to be poor communication between the owner and a rental manager. Turned out the rental manager booked the place through another site, while we booked with the owner through VRBO. Still can't believe we got confirmation from the owner just days before our trip, only to end up in this mess. Double and triple check that your reservation is actually secured.
