Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 5

This quiet private cottage has all of the comforts of home but is close to everything...

The White House is situated on a 180 acre private plantation that has been family-owned since the 1890's & is located within the gates of Colleton River Plantation.* You will enjoy escaping it all as you enter the property down a winding country road beneath majestic live oaks.

Slated to be demolished on an adjoining plantation in the 1980's, The White House was saved and moved to its current location at Victoria Bluff Plantation. It has been remodeled and has all of the comforts of home. Enjoy tranquility surrounded by pasture, woods & lovely marsh views from your expansive porch where you can enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sunrise over Mackay's Creek.

Should you decide to venture out, beaches, golf & tennis on Hilton Head Island are just a short drive away, as is old town Bluffton. Or perhaps a day trip may be store to Historic Beaufort, Savannah or Charleston.

If you enjoy boating, there is ample space to store your boat or kayaks and take advantage of the numerous public boat landings in the area.

For those looking to get away from it all with the option of plenty to do, The White House is the perfect fit.

Peaceful retreat among the spanish moss.

  • 5 of 5

The property met all our expectations. The peace and tranquility of the jungle like surroundings is accentuated by the spanish moss that hangs in abbundance from the trees.

The traditional plantation house atmosphere is perfectly preserved in this relocated and professionally renovated old plantation house. Forced air airconditioning was a defenite bonus in making our stay comfortable.

The 2 bedrooms that shared a bathroom never seem to cause any issues. The third bedroom worked perfectly for the on single member in our group. The ensuite bathroom in that room was well appreciated.

The kitchen was a joy to work and live in and we enjoyed all our meals at the White House rather than eating out.

The location was very central. It was a 25 minute drive to the beach but the surroundings are so beautiful that driving that was just another joy of the weekend.

Overall a perfect venue for someone looking for a relaxing weekend in a very private setting.

Secluded, quiet, quaint and well appointed with plenty of space (in and out) for memory making

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (kids are 5 and 3) had a wonderful stay at The White House for Spring Break. Every day we discovered something else new to love about the property. We spent over half our time eating meals on the back deck or playing outside in the expansive back yard, near the marsh or utilizing the Colleton River property to go for runs or bike rides. Twin beds room is perfect for kids. Master windows look out onto the marsh. Can’t imagine a more peaceful place to spend spring break. The kitchen is well stocked with all you need for cooking at home. Washer and dryer makes traveling with kids a breeze. Also went to the beach every day, so everything is close enough to enjoy both the quiet and the beach busyness. We hope to visit again soon!

Incredible

  • 5 of 5

It is hard to articulate the dichotomy that is the little White House — pulling off a busy Hwy 278 and driving past million-dollar homes in the Colleton River community, one could never imagine finding such a wonderfully secluded home situated down a little dirt road amongst 10’s of acres and overlooking miles of the South Carolina low-country. We have stayed here multiple times and never leave without hoping our next visit comes as quickly as possible. One can unplug as much as he/she wants while still having the comforts of home (even WiFi) and grocery shopping close by. And the beaches of Hilton Head are just a short drive away. Love it

Amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

We came to the White House for a "girls getaway". The property is so beautiful and feels like a million years away from your worries. I have never stayed on such a property and it has definitely set the bar high for future trips.

The character of the house cannot be truly shown through the pictures...all the modern perks while stepping back in time. We were greeted with fresh flowers and a completely prepared house for a 4 day stay.

Just a tip...one of our phone gps routes (I-phone) kept sending us down Saw Mill Rd, which is a parallel route that enters the property through a side gate. This is a golf course entrance that is locked after dark. Disregard your gps if it sends you down Saw Mill and use the main entrance instead. Enjoy the peace and solitude of the house and the views.

Close to Hilton Head & it's lovely beaches, shopping and restaurants. Historic Bluffton is a short drive and while you are there swing by the Bluffton Oyster Factory that has been in operation since 1899 and pick up some of the finest Oysters & Shrimp you will ever have. Enjoy bird watching & nature walks through many of the areas preserved lands. Or simply just relax on your porch watching the tide roll in & out surrounded by nature & live oaks. Bring your golf gear and take in a round on one of the areas numerous courses. If you enjoy tennis, several clubs in the area offer clinics & hourly court time.
