More than just a holiday apartment

  • 5 of 5

I booked this holiday accommodation as part of a special birthday treat for my daughter with my sister and her daughter. We arrived to be greeted by Mr Marcel who was very welcoming and helpful. He made us feel very much at home and was very keen to offer any help and advice that we required. The house itself was amazing. Full of French charm. The house is very well equipped and the bedrooms are amazingly spacious and beautifully mentained. We did manage to have breakfast on the terrace even though this was October. There is a metro station a stones throw from the house which has links to all the major lines you would need to get around the city and the area has a good selection of shops and eateries to choose from.

I would highly recommend this property and hope to return again at some point .

Many thanks to the wonderful Mr Marcel .

Spoils in Paris

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of four adults and from when we first met the charming and helpful Mr Marcel, until he organised our taxi for the airport, we had a wonderful stay. Micheal communicated well and kept in touch during our time in Paris.

The house was quirky and fun, with many interesting aspects to enjoy.

There was lots of room and everything we needed to meet our needs. Travelling and walking were easy and convenient and we enjoyed the facilities in the immediate district.

We will certainly tell others about this home.

living in paris for a few days

  • 5 of 5

charming home, full of authentic Parisian personality. We had everything we needed and plenty of elbow room for each one of us. the metro was across the street, we had bakeries, restaurants, pharmacies, etc. all within a few steps. There is even a theater a few buildings down, but we didn't have time to check out the films. We LOVED buying groceries at the nearby market and having a kitchen to make quick meals at home.

Our phone wasn't working during our stay but the owner made the effort to inform us of events that could affect our visit and he had an adorably charming gentleman, Marcel, tending to anything we could need. Marcel even dropped off some medicine for my mom who got sick on the trip. He was hilariously spunky. ;-)

Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow to enjoy the terrace, which was quite inviting....maybe next time :-)

Spacious with small defects

  • 4 of 5

My experience with the owner and Caretaker was very positive. Can't say enough good things, always quick response, personal attention and very professional. Owner called me a few days prior to answer any questions and I really appreciated his interest. We were celebrating 2 anniversaries and arrived to the apartment to two nice bottles of wine from Mike (owner). Mr. Marcel (caretaker) was available to give us tour of house and answer any questions.

That said the apartment itself was very spacious. We were six adults and felt we had more than enough space. There were some small issues and it really depends on what kind of traveler you are and if you can overlook them.

1) not sure if there is a/c. Did not see termostat or vents for a/c. We had no need as the temps stayed chilly in May. But that's something that should be asked if coming in the summer.

2) 2nd floor rooms share a hallway bathroom which had no door only sheer curtain. Definitely lacked privacy.

3) the room in 3rd floor, next to office, has no windows and feels a bit claustrophobic. It also was very, very warm and humid in this room.

4) has 4th floor loft, we did not use but the few times I went investigating it was also very hot and only had thin mattress on the floor.

5) the house feels put together like a jigsaw puzzle. It's not cohesive at all, almost like some parts were added. My husband and I stayed in the bedroom all the way in the back of the house 2nd floor. Very narrow stairs and bedroom at the top with French doors leading to roof top patio. Very spacious and light. But bathroom is downstairs and again did not see any a/c ducts.

6) the neighborhood is out of the main stay for tourists. We actually liked this and we're happy to come home at night. But be aware, a metro ride is in order to see the popular attractions. The good thing is the metro stop is down the road. Also, in the neighborhood is a supermarket, bakeries, restaurants.

Like a lot of houses/apt in Paris are old, you should expect this to be evident. This apt was huge but definetly has experienced wear and tear. We felt charmed by it and in no way took away from our experience. But again that's a personal choice.

I think it was a good value for the space that we got. But those small details should be considered with open eyes.

Owner's Response: Hi Rebecca, Thank you for your review which shows that we really care about our guests prior and during their stay in our home. Yet I need to add some remarks to your review: First of all the bedroom and the bathroom on the 3 rd floor have both windows as one is opening directly on the terrace (behind the curtains!) Then France not only Paris have only about 0.5% of places with AC just because we do not need it ( roughly one hot month a year) so we provide electric fans during summer time and there are heaters in each room with regulation if it gets cold. You may find AC in hotels but then not the same price, not the same space, nor the possibility to be all together at home for breakfast or dinner Finally apartments in Paris are very small as a studio starts at 120 sqf a 2/2 at 550 sqf and it is unusual to get more than one bathroom in even big apartments. Our place is a townhouse so there are stairs easy to climb, but there are not many places offering 4 bedrooms ( all real beds ),3baths ,3 toilets fully equipped and furnished with a devoted old house manager always happy to help and take good care of our guests Mike

a perfect place to stay visiting Paris

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for our family of 7

Everyone had their own space and could gather when wanted

Location was ideal, with lots of shops/restaurants in the neighbourhood and Nation metrostation nearby(it brings you in no time to all the attractions)

The contact with the owner (Michel) was more then good, he was always reachable for questions and even called afterwards to check how our stay was.

I have to mention the housemaster Mr Marcel, who gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel at home right a way.

Our French home!

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed our stay in this traditional French house! I highly recommend this home for a group of 6....we shopped twice a week at the marvelous farmers market just blocks away. Choice of 4 wonderful bakeries just 2 blocks away....markets, cafes and a movie theater right next door!. We each have our own space in this house as we wind around in all of the rooms, stairways, and patios. Michel and Mr Marceau are gracious hosts and respond quickly with any questions we have had. Each week a kind house cleaner comes in and turns our house back into a clean and orderly home! We've added flowers to each room, music from the small living room sound system, and lots of laughter. Happy here! We would love to come back!
