Wonderfully Unique

  • 5 of 5

The house gave us the feel of living in old Nauvoo, yet with the essential modern day comforts. It truly enhanced the entire Nauvoo experience. We loved it! Lon and Nancy were so kind and accommodating.

Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This historic home was beautifully decorated to match it's time period but still had all modern necessities. Very nice bathrooms (tub, shower, sinks, toilets seemed new), lovely family rooms and cozy bedrooms (beds were very comfortable). This home really felt like home away from home very quickly. The property owners were very sweet and accommodating and even dropped by and left us a treat!

Will be recommending this home to my family and friends who stay in Nauvoo.

Historic property with all the modern conveniences

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved our experience in Nauvoo and a big part of it was staying in the Mix House. We were just delighted to stay in a property that gave us the feel of walking back in time but still had wi-fi and hot showers (we never ran out of hot water either!) There was plenty of room to sleep all 8 of us. We had everything we needed with plenty of linens and blankets to keep us cozy on the chilly November nights. The house looks and feels like you have traveled back in time. If you are visiting the winery, it's just a quick walk down the road. If you are interested in the historic homes and Mormon sites, they are just a 5 minute drive away. We were so glad we were able to stay in this great property instead of a regular hotel room. We had the freedom to cook our own food, and not have to be right in town. Though town is just 1 mile away if you want to do some shopping. The Mix House is your best choice for everything you could want to see and do for a historical trip. Thank you Simpson Family for lovingly restoring such a great part of history and sharing it with our family. You made our trip so special.

Great historic proterty

  • 5 of 5

My short stay at the Mix house was comfortable and relaxing. The property was immaculate and interesting with its historic features. Nancy and Lon are great hosts and ambassadors for the community. Enjoyed the Pumpkin Parade and dining at the Hotel Nauvoo. Looking forward to a return visit next year. Jeff

Beautiful restored home

  • 4 of 5

Very clean, comfortable, and in an excellent location to tour Nauvoo. Beautiful furnishings and period pieces. Our only negative was that there was no wifi which was difficult as we needed to make flight changes and get a bit of work done. We had to drive to a location with wifi anytime we had work issues or anything else that required wifi, which ended up being rather inconvenient.

Perfect historical house.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Mix house. It was a the perfect fit for our family to see historic nauvoo. I'm sure the Mix family new our ancestors that once loved there. Our kids loved the wood floors, the racoons that were eating from the persimmons tree. Highly recommend. Nancy was great to work with.
