Villa Serena is a stylish two bedroom luxury villa located in the rice fields along the famous Juwuk Manis rice field walk. Fine Balinese art and antiques are stunningly combined with 5 star Western amenities to create the perfect environment for your Bali experience. Villa Serena feels instantly like you are coming home!
Both spacious upstairs bedroom Master suites share a huge veranda with expansive views of the lush rice fields and come with new King size pillowtop mattresses, soft pillows, and luxurious linens. Mosquito netting, safety box and air conditioning are also there for your comfort. Each bathroom has cream terrazzo, granite counters and Rainshower shower heads. The South/Master bedroom suite boasts a separate bougainvilla terrace outside the window. The semi outdoor bathroom, full of plants, has a large terrazzo tub for a good soak after your rice field walk and a massage. The North bathroom suite also has Rainshower fixtures, terrazzo and granite with lots of hot water.
Downstairs, you are surrounded by a fantastic collection of Balinese art and one-of-a-kind antiques. Two soft comfortable sofas and a reading chair with ottoman are perfect for a book or watching the 42" flat Plasma screen TV with satellite channels galore. There is also a half bath off the lounge. There are many books to read, videos to choose from, and a DVD/CD player with good volume speakers. Wifi is currently available throughout the villa, and we have 'lightning fast' fibre optic cable by Speedy. You will also find brochures on places to go, lots of menus including extensive food delivery options, and a binder with many insider suggestions for your trip. All of the villa's furniture is custom designed and handmade in Bali, and the lighting is good for reading in your two big chairs with ottomans. Perfect for dining al fresco is the indoor/outdoor table with seating for 6. Flowering orchids can be seen throughout the villa.
We designed Villa Serena to take advantage of the beautiful views and traditional outdoor living, but also for the ability to close doors, cool with air conditioning if necessary, and lock up everything. By the sparkling pool are several sunbeds and a large umbrella, as well as a beautiful wooden bale' pavilion with traditional ylang ylang roof for yoga, reading, breakfast, a massage, or contemplating nature. This will be your favorite place to eat! Mature landscaping and flowering plants are everywhere, blending perfectly with the lush green of the rice fields. The pool's Quan Yin water feature adds the bubbling sounds of running water to the already serene atmosphere.
Serena's kitchen has custom cabinets from Javanese teak, slab granite counters, stainless appliances and is fully equipped with everything you need (and a lot you don't). On hand to cook for you is our lovely staff (there will be several), who will pamper you and tempt your palate with delicious Western breakfast or Balinese nasi goreng (upon request). You may have your choice of eggs any style, fruit, pancakes, fruit smoothie, juice, and coffee or tea. Our staff will also be happy to make lunch or dinner, menu agreed to beforehand--you pay in advance for groceries, they will go to the market or store, and give you the change and your receipt. Staff arrives at 6:30-7:00 and leaves around 3, so she/they will leave the cooked food in the fridge and you can serve at your leisure. Our full time staff lives onsite and will open the villa in the morning as well as close the doors and curtains in the evening.
The villa also comes equipped with many thoughtful touches like shampoo, insect repellant, pool floaties, umbrellas, ponchos, flashlights, and magnifying makeup mirrors. You may also use our Bali cell phone for local calls for reservations or food delivery during your stay, and it is pre-programmed with essential staff numbers in case you would like to be picked up at the drop off point on our motorbikes.
There is no place else on earth where you can be so submerged in culture and so welcomed, and eat so well. The goal is to share our love of all things Balinese, especially the lovely people! We will be more than happy to assist with any travel needs, transportation or recommendations. Enjoy this special place, and Manager Ketut and our dedicated staff will take superb care of you!
Ketut Jati purchased this villa in 2013
There was never a choice other than Ubud, with all its art and culture, galleries, and sensational restaurants. Should you desire beaches, they are an easy day trip. Location, location, location...a 10 minute walk into town, yet located in a serene and clean green belt of rice fields where cars are not allowed. The village atmosphere remains authentically Balinese!
The lush views will take your breath away the moment you first set foot on the property. At night, there is just the right amount of breeze (air conditioning is rarely needed)--and unbelievable sunrises. You can roll out of bed and be at Yoga class in five minutes, or stay home in tranquility and do nothing peacefully. Convenient to all, close enough to walk to everything, but far enough away from crowds that you can just watch Balinese life go by. Be involved as much as you wish...Balinese people are very warm and welcoming and love to share their culture and ceremonies! Walking down our path gives you the true, authentic Bali feeling and there are smiles and friendly greetings from everyone. Dine out, have food delivered, or have our staff cook some delicious curries or special Bali dishes. You may never want to leave!
Not only is the villa superb fitted out and managed but is its 10 minutes from Ubud , the staff especially the manager Komang are exceptional . It really is a home away from home in the middle of the rice fields , 5 star facility with none of the pretension of resorts .
Loved our stay at Villa 42. Beautiful pool and the villa was very roomy. The staff were friendly and it was so great to get our laundry done for us. A much needed luxury! It is an easy walk to "Eat Street" where there is so much shopping and great restaurants.
Me and my friend Danielle came across this rare diamond whilst walking off road from the central main road of Ubud. We followed a small narrow path open to the surroundings of the incredible rice fields and was greeted mid way into the path by a sweet man selling fresh coconuts. We stopped to refuel on coconut and took in the spectacular view. Initially lost on our path we were calmly asked if we needed help by locals and so eventually were introduced to the lovely owned of the property Kacey.
Besides the location which is in perfect walking distance to all and everything. It is also away from any noise or chaos of the main road. The property itself is impeccable. It is clean, spacious, beautifully luxurious but without detaching from its natural environment. Most furniture is hand crafted, wood, bamboo, coconuts. It is certainly unique and the detail must be appreciated from the open large bedroom windows that face the rice fields to the semi-open ensuite bathroom which has been so carefully made.
The staff are wonderful. Relaxed, always willing to help but equally distant so that you don't feel like you are being overtly pampered or spoilt to death. They were magical. Every morning whilst we were still in bed admiring our queen sized beds and terrace the staff would enter the house around 5/6am...i guess we would never really know, we never saw them- to open the doors and the windows. We'd come down between 7/8am to see them downstairs and they'd prepare and make whatever breakfast we wanted, fresh to order. It was special. There presence was not overwhelming, made us feel very safe, almost like the guardian angels of the properties. I say safe simply because we live in London a city that is far from safe where we would never leave doors opens etc. However Ubud is extremely safe, friendly and welcoming. The majority of the locals are Hindu and heavy believe in Karma which is maybe why crime is so low there. Trust them, love them and know that when you arrive to this area and property you will never want to leave!
We had a wonderful time at Villa Serena. Kasey was an excellent communicator and supplied us with a wealth of knowledge prior to arrival. The staff are very nice and very helpful. We had a few times when we needed their help communicating with locals. The property is beautiful and the view is extremely tranquil. The pool is refreshing and the property is totally suitable for kids. Just a quick walk in one direction drops into the bustle of Ubud or turn the other direction and wander the rice fields for the day.
We stayed at Villa Satori in Villa Serena for one week. It was our first time in Bali and Ubud. The villa is perfectly located; 15 minutes walking to central Ubud yet far enough way to have piece and tranquility from the business of Ubud.
The staff are wonderful. Komang takes care of the property and was always available to help with anything and Desak and Illu prepare wonderful breakfasts to order with fresh fruit. They also clean the villa and ensure that everything is spotless. Desak organized all our adventures from Bali Treetop to Elephant Safari Park to in home villa massages as well as ensuring we made it to our next destination.
Kasey is always available to answer any questions and it is evident that she takes pride in her villas and the services they offer.
We have now been elsewhere and can honestly say that Villa Satori set the bar so high...no other place has come close!!
It was great being pin the rice paddies. Great hike around the paddies. Love the animal wild life. The villa was very comfortable with get views. It was nice to have breakfast made to order every day. The girls were very sweet. The boys were helpful also. Love the pool after a day in Ubud. Only down fall was that hike up the hill. All and all we had a good time
Villa Serena is located at the start of famous Juwuk Manis rice field walk, and the 45 minute loop through the paddies and into Ubud and back is not to be missed. Don't forget to stop along the way at one of the lovely organic cafes (including famous Sari Organic) for a fresh cold juice! Make sure also to visit Threads of Life Gallery on our Kajeng Street, about 8 minutes walk and close to the center of Ubud. Kajeng, also known as Artist Street, has a wonderful variety of restaurants, spas, yoga classes, shops, artists and other galleries to enjoy on your leisurely walk into the center of Ubud--all within 13 minutes of our villa. There is a 3 minute walk up a sloping hill from the car drop off point, then another 3 minutes along the path to the villa, so not recommended for wheelchairs or people with mobility issues. Our staff are on hand with motorbikes to pick you up from the drop off point should you have heavy bags from all your shopping!
