About Erica Helling

We met in Yosemite National Park eleven years ago. Erica came out to Yosemite from Kentucky to work for the National Park Service Bighorn Sheep program. Josh moved to the Yosemite area in 1991 to work as a rock climbing guide, ski instructor and photographer. We are raising our two children in the Merced River Canyon below Yosemite.

Erica Helling purchased this house in 2013

Why Erica Helling chose Yosemite

We love the rolling foothills of Mariposa and wanted to find a place to one day move our family to. We looked at many properties but this one spoke to us. From the moment we pulled up we felt a sense ease and look forward to one day living here. We also like that it is close to the amenities that the quaint town of Mariposa, and Oakhurst have to offer.

What makes this house unique

The sense of peace and calm that washes over you when you are at this location is what drew us to this property. We could picture retiring here just fine.

A wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Mariposa retreat house! The quiet setting on top of the mountain was so relaxing after visiting crowded Yosemite. The large windows created a light-filled space, and there was much roominess. The wraparound deck was perfect for eating, relaxing, and sky gazing at night. The kitchen was fully furnished and made meal preparation easy. The king mattress was heavenly!

Thank you, Erica, for the suggestion of leaving early in the morning to visit Yosemite. We were able to avoid the worst crowds by being "early birds". We would certainly return to this house again if ever given the chance!

The Mariposa Mountain House was a lovely respite, fully equipped and artistically designed!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights at this beautiful property while visiting Yosemite. We loved the quiet and serenity amidst the natural beauty of this mountain top retreat. The dwelling is aglow with light due to all of the glass accesses to the surrounding deck as well as skylight accents. It is remote so be prepared to drive 45 min to an hour to get to Park Entrance if you plan to visit it daily. The Owners are very hospitable and non intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property!

Lovely peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and was pleased with the quiet surroundings. Everything you need to make dinners were provided. The apple cider was a nice treat - just couldn't get enough of that stuff. Having laundry on site was great when we came back from Yosemity dirty. The drive is a little long, but so enjoyable that we didn't mind at all. Would love to return.

Great cozy cabin in a remote feeling location on a lush green mountain top. Great looking cabin.

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and myself used this cozy cabin as home for the weekend while taking our engangment photos up in Yosemite. The place is clean, cozy, modern, yet rustic and feels very inviting. Almost everything is provided from clean linens, coffee machines, a BBQ grill to even a Brita water purifier.

Erica & Josh go out of their way to make anyone feel at home. They communicate well with any questions or concerns about the cabin. Amazed by their beautiful book and DVD collections. Nice hot running water and new appliances. Can't wait to come back again soon.

Our unique vacation rental is located among the rolling oak foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Secluded away from light pollution of cities the property allows for spectacular star gazing, along with colorful sunrises and sunsets.

With its 800 miles of trails to hike and activities such as horseback riding, rafting, rock climbing, waterfall and wildlife viewing Yosemite National Park has something for the whole family.

We are also conveniently located eight miles from the historic town of Mariposa which has a number of quaint antique and gift shops along with fine and casual dining. A great place to unwind after a long hike in Yosemite.
