About Erica Helling

We met in Yosemite National Park eleven years ago. Erica came out to Yosemite from Kentucky to work for the National Park Service Bighorn Sheep program. Josh moved to the Yosemite area in 1991 to work as a rock climbing guide, ski instructor and photographer. We are raising our two children in the Merced River Canyon below Yosemite.

Erica Helling purchased this house in 2013

Why Erica Helling chose Yosemite

We love the rolling foothills of Mariposa and wanted to find a place to one day move our family to. We looked at many properties but this one spoke to us. From the moment we pulled up we felt a sense ease and look forward to one day living here. We also like that it is close to the amenities that the quaint town of Mariposa, and Oakhurst have to offer.

What makes this house unique

The sense of peace and calm that washes over you when you are at this location is what drew us to this property. We could picture retiring here just fine.

Great cozy cabin in a remote feeling location on a lush green mountain top. Great looking cabin.

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and myself used this cozy cabin as home for the weekend while taking our engangment photos up in Yosemite. The place is clean, cozy, modern, yet rustic and feels very inviting. Almost everything is provided from clean linens, coffee machines, a BBQ grill to even a Brita water purifier.

Erica & Josh go out of their way to make anyone feel at home. They communicate well with any questions or concerns about the cabin. Amazed by their beautiful book and DVD collections. Nice hot running water and new appliances. Can't wait to come back again soon.

Amazing Getaway Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful retreat this home provides! My wife and I were able to escape to the mountains and enjoy peace and quiet in this amazingly lovely home. Acres of space, top of the mountain, every comfort provided - we loved this home! Plus, the owners have provided everything to the smallest detail - including all kitchen and pantry needs to toothbrushes and other toiletries in the bathroom. The home is convenient to Mariposa and its shops, and not too far from Yosemite. We thoroughly loved this home and hope to return again!

Serene and beautiful getaway

  • 5 of 5

While this property is more than an hour away from Yosemite, it's well worth the drive. Beautifully situated on a wide, open property, this two-bedroom bungalow is a vacation unto itself. Cozy, comfortable and tastefully appointed, it feels like a home away from home, with soaring ceilings, natural light, and views of nature from every window. This is our second visit, and it's every bit as enjoyable and restorative as our first. Mariposa is just a few miles away, with plenty of amenities (including a great health food store/cafe), restaurants, etc. I highly recommend this true gem of a getaway. Perfect for families of four.

Wonderful oasis in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

In a word or three, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. This mountain house is immaculate and very welcoming. The bed is sumptuously comfortable. Best rest we have had in a hectic holiday. The drive through the mountains to Yosemite picturesque. The accomodation was well furnished for our needs.

Thanyou to our hosts.

Our unique vacation rental is located among the rolling oak foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Secluded away from light pollution of cities the property allows for spectacular star gazing, along with colorful sunrises and sunsets.

With its 800 miles of trails to hike and activities such as horseback riding, rafting, rock climbing, waterfall and wildlife viewing Yosemite National Park has something for the whole family.

We are also conveniently located eight miles from the historic town of Mariposa which has a number of quaint antique and gift shops along with fine and casual dining. A great place to unwind after a long hike in Yosemite.
