Our beautiful, art-filled garden apartment is now available for holiday rental!
Just two blocks from the subway and several grocery stores, smack in the middle of happening Harlem, walking distance to Columbia University, nine blocks from Central Park, it occupies the garden floor of the house we live in. We are a European-American family, and well familiar with both ways of life, so you will have no surprises!
Walk through your private entrance garden into the living room. With a large screen TV and a comfortable pull out couch, it can serve as your second bedroom. A large massive oak dining table accommodates up to six people for your own Harlem dinner party! The kitchen is fully stocked, and a dishwasher takes care of the clean up. A long art-filled gallery leads to the back of the apartment, were your bedroom overlooks the quiet garden. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub! And your huge walk-in closet will house all of your clothes along with the suitcases, skis, golfing gear, whatever!
Off the bedroom you can work in your own studio, a tiny enclave where you can write your emails, browse the web or start that novel you have been thinking of writing. Internet access is free! From the studio you can pop into the ivy-covered garden, with its hammock, large dining table and flowering vines.
World-traveler, born in Germany, multi-lingual, renowned designer with my own company- and yes, I renovated this apartment! We live right upstairs!

Harlem is my love. Since I was a kid, I thought of Harlem as this great, multi-cultural place- and I was not wrong!
Anyone who lives in Manhattan would love to live here, with our beautiful old townhouses and lush gardens!
This house was a blank canvas when we bought it- nothing to stop my implementing my ideas of a modern, clean, high-end designed home.
Loved this Harlem Art Apartment. Fun atomosphere/decor and great space for a Mother Daughter trip. Well equipped kitchen. Large bathroom, and bedroom with really comfy king bed. It is close to great Harlem restaurants, grocery stores, and the subway. My Mother and I walked all over Harlem, day and night, and felt very safe. We took the subway at all hours as well. You can get anywhere you want to go very easily. Thanks Katrin! We hope to stay again when we return to NYC.
This was one of our best vacation rentals, from every perspective: helpfulness of the owner; comforts (and spacious beauty!) of the apartment; great and convenient location; everything really! Only regret is not being able to meet Katrin's daughter in person, but hope to make up for it next time. Bis dann!
Katrin's apartment is modern, clean, and very comfortable. It is convienently located with several subway stations within blocks as well as memorable restaurants nearby such as Cecil, and Red Rooster. Our host was very attentive to our needs and went out of her way to be sure everything went well. Our visit to the city to spend Thanksgiving with our daughter was a great success. We look forward to a return visit and would wholeheartedly recommend this property.
A lovely spot and a chance for this former New Yorker to explore Harlem, a neighborhood I did not know as well as others further downtown. Apartment is comfortable, clean, convenient, quiet, with all the amenities I needed. Lots of great places to eat and an easy subway trip anywhere. North end of Central Park is stunning. I can't wait to go back!
We spent 4 days in Katrin's lovely apartment. We felt very welcomed and Katrin did everything to accommodate us. THe garden in the back, under the wisteria was lovely- we were able to entertain our family comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked and I was able to cook dinner for 5 people with no problems.
The neighbourhoood had many restaurants and shopping was close by. We walked everywhere but buses and subway are nearby. We would highly recommend this rental and would come back next time we are in NY.
Thank you, Katrin, for a lovely stay!

Harlem is the most happening neighborhood in New York right now! Have you eaten at Red Rooster? Have you listened to Jazz at Cecil's? Have you gone to church at St. John the Divine? Have you visited Columbia University? Have you seen the New York Marathon? Have you checked out Amateur Night at the Apollo? Have you biked around Central Park? Have you been to the Guggenheim? All these are within 15 walking minutes from our house!
