Modernist apartment

  • 5 of 5

Great place. Well-thought out design with everything you need to be comfortable.

The hosts are lovely and the location was perfect for me.

The air-conditioning was very welcome, since it was in the 90s when I was there.

I'd definitely stay there again!

Convenient, clean & comfortable, great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

I'll stay here again next time I'm in LA. Silver Lake is a great neighborhood. Mike is a gracious host, sharing his knowledge of the city and offering great suggestions for places to go and things to do. The apartment is nicely designed, clean and comfortable.

Great Spot to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay here while visiting our son, who lived a short car ride away. The apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures and is a perfect spot for one or two adults or a family with a young child. Because we were in town for a graduation, we didn't spend a great deal of time in the apartment. But it had everything we needed, including a kitchen with all the essentials -- including a full-sized refrigerator and nice gas stove for people who might want to cook more than breakfast. We didn't use the washer and dryer, but that's another nice amenity for anyone staying a bit longer than we did. Also, there's plenty of closet space for clothes and luggage. And it was very clean.

The location was great, with lots of options for food and drink nearby and a list of great suggestions from the hosts.

It was unseasonably warm in LA during our visit, but the apartment stayed nice and cool -- partly because of the air conditioning but also because of the concrete floors. People who tend to have cold feet may want to bring a warm pair of socks!

We had read the other reviews that mentioned the noise from young children and the narrow walkway past the car in the driveway. We noticed both of those things, as well, but neither was a problem. While we could hear the pattering of footsteps above us at times, there was really no other noise that could be heard inside the apartment. It was much quieter than staying in some hotels with thin walls! Also, we made sure to take small duffel bags that were easy to carry past the car. And on the morning of our department, the owner kindly parked the car on the street.

Although we didn't have a car, our son did make frequent trips to the apartment to pick us up. Parking in the area was never really a problem.

We would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it.

If you wanna experience Hollywood? Stay here!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my wife had a three week vacation in and around LA. We stayed at 4 Home Away places. This was the best! Good bed, nice kitchen, great sofa, a dining table, nice garden with a view on the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Obervatory.

The neighbourhood is booming and you can find some great restaurants in walking distance. When you visit Stella's restaurant you can see moviestars! (we did!)

The hosts are very welcoming and we got alot of info and suggestions from Michael.

Excellent home away from home

  • 5 of 5

I had an excellent second stay at this Silverlake studio apartment. It meets all of my needs while I'm in Los Angeles for work, including a washer and dryer, small kitchen, lots of quiet during the day, and many terrific cafes and the Silverlake hills and reservoir within walking distance. My husband joined me in the last days of my 9-day stay and enjoyed it as well. Having to find parking is a small occasional hassle, but generally not a problem. We were surprised to find a hubcap was stolen from our rental car at some point during the day, but I don't fault the rental's owners for this.
