Guestbook comments from the manager

My husband surprised me with a trip to this beautiful cabin for Valentines day. I had no idea what to expect. We watched the sunset last night as we went for a walk and when we returned, we watched the elk bed down in the field. Everything was wonderful. Thank you for helping preserve the wildlife and allowing us to enjoy this beautiful view.

The Sorenson Cabin is an off the grid delight

  • 5 of 5

The Sorenson cabin is small, off the grid, with propane heat, refrigerator, and stove top and a gravity- fed water system. It is remote in the sense that it is isolated and on 160 acres but is easily accessible from the coast highway. 4WD is a plus, the road is a bit rough in places. GPS elevation is around 1350’ There is some old growth timber and quite a bit of late successional growth interspersed with creeks and meadows. Wildlife abounds, lots of elk, turkeys, and no doubt bear and bobcat

If you are looking for solitude and quiet in a no- frills environment with spectacular views it would be hard to beat the Sorenson Cabin. There is no landline telephone, but good cellular reception.

We rented the cabin for Lori’s 60th birthday. On previous occasions we usually went camping or backpacking in our younger days. As luck would have it there was a cyclone moving down the coast and winds were gusting at around 40 knots with heavy rain but the cabin is tight as can be

We had a problem with the shower head but within an hour of calling Wildland Properties and in spite of a steady gale and heavy rain they had a nice gentleman up there replacing it

This section of the Oregon Coast offers some of the most gorgeous and least visited beaches in the State. Humbug Mountain is just to the north, and the Elk River is a sight to behold

Trips to the Oregon Coast are good for the soul.

peaceful serenity

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to rewind, reset and erase the hectic day to day stressors of life, then do yourself a favor and check out the Fairytale Cabin. It is set in the most amazing location with views that will astound you. The sunrises were exceptional as were the sunsets all viewed with the incredible soundtrack that is nature. The location allows you to watch the mist rise and disperse from the ocean. The wind feels alive as you listen to it sweep through the trees as it rises up to the cabin- offering a stereophonic sensation. The cabin itself is the perfect size for two people and despite the lack of electricity there are some great comforts. There is a well equipped kitchen, with gas burners and a gas fridge. The cabin is kept toasty with on demand heat with a gas fireplace. Lastly, the cabin sports a nice bathroom with shower and more than ample source of hot water. We spent a considerable amount of time on the deck and as others have mentioned in their reviews if that is your plan you might consider brining relaxing camping chairs. The one small knock I would point out is the comfort of the bed, my husband had a hard time with it and jokingly referred to it as the widow maker. Obviously he was exaggerating as I did not find it to be that big of a deal. No doubt we will return and enjoy this wonderful spot and pick up blissfully where we left off.

Lovely Cabin on the Mountain Top

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I just returned from 3 nights at this lovely little cabin at the top of a mountain. The cabin was small but quaint and was very comfortable and clean. We spent most of our time on the deck taking in the breathtaking views of the Southern Oregon Coast. We had almost everything we needed. I would only suggest two things to make your stay even better...folding camp chairs for the deck, so you could relax in style, and headlamps for reading in bed at night. Even though the cabin didn't have electricity, we didn't miss it. There were a lot of lanterns for light and the stove top, heat, and refrigerator all worked on gas. The road to the cabin was rough but not impassable in our Subaru Outback. Two other things worthy of mention...I probably just didn't read the description closely enough but there is no oven. Also, we saw elk the first day, but most of the "wildlife" was a herd of cattle who grazed the meadow below the cabin. Finally, thanks to Karen, the property manager, who was very helpful and prompt if we had questions.

Incredible ocean views, gorgeous meadows and woods, starry nights, and deep peace. Loved it.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was simply furnished with everything I needed. I only wish I could have stayed longer. The cabin was clean, the bed comfortable, the cupboards had every sort of pan and pot I needed. I appreciated the little handmade soaps. I brought a battery powered radio but preferred the wind soughing in the pines and birdsong. I did not see elk until the day I left, but the hilarious feral cows were my constant companions. They mooed and bellered, grunted and honked on and off throughout the day. I watched three calves do lots of frisky head-butting. They were not impressed by my harp playing or my attempts to yodel to them.

I did come to escape fireworks for the sake of my dog and unfortunately we could still hear them carry up from either town or maybe Arizona Beach. Not sure. So, she had a couple of hours of terror, but that is better than the days of hell that are Springfield.

I appreciated Karen and Colleen escorting me up the road after my 4 hour drive. It isn't all that complicated, but my fatigue got a break with their help. I did have to put my ancient Tercel Wagon into 4-wheel drive at one point.

I found the water refreshing and tasty, the nights full of stars, and the hiking peaceful and rejuvenating. I loved the rocking chair and sitting on the deck. I can't think of a thing to complain about. I did not leave to go to the mayhem of towns during the 4th of July. I am grateful for every hermit minute I had.

We loved this place! Very quiet and private. We did not miss electricity at all. We saw elk almost every day and coyote's, turkey's and deer. We will definitely be back. We would love to be there during a winter storm. The views are incredible.
