About Mark Shamalian

It all started out with visiting friends in Crested Butte in December of 2012. The more I visited, the more I fell in love with Crested Butte. The next thing I knew, I was looking for the perfect place for skiing and mountain biking.

It is such an amazing area for skiing, mountain biking, shopping, or just sitting back and taking in the beauty of the mountain.

Mark Shamalian purchased this condo in 2014

Why Mark Shamalian chose Southwestern Colorado

There's something for everyone. From enjoying the ski season to taking wildflower hikes, attending farmers' markets, craft fairs, local town events, concerts, and much, much more.

What makes this condo unique

Relaxing on the balcony, listening to summer concerts from the balcony, majestic views of Mt. Crested Butte, Jeeping nearby, Hiking nearby, Zip Line, Miniature Golf, oh, did I mention the Silver Queen & Red Lady chairlifts are right outside your door?

If you are looking for a true ski in ski out or a place to sit on your balcony and view the activity on the mountain, this place is perfect. If you are looking for a little more to your condo, like amenities and space...this is not. This condo is super small and the kitchen is lacking basic necessities. If it wasn't for the time we spent on the balcony, this would have been a difficult stay.

Owner's Response: As always, I appreciate everyone’s feedback. In case future visitors don’t see the information provided on VRBO, I thought I would give a little refresher. The condo is a 1 bedroom unit as indicated on VRBO. The unit has one (1) king size bed and a full pull out couch that can sleep 2 kids, but only 1 adult comfortably. Although It may be on the smaller side, past guests of 2 have stated it was plenty of room for them and they were able to make full meals. The kitchen basics that are provided are: microwave, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker & filters, skillets, pans, pots, dishes (plates & bowls), glasses, coffee cups, eating utensils, cooking utensils (spatulas, large spoons, etc.), a toaster, and a NutriBullet to make smoothies. All located in the cabinets to the left of the stove, above the stove, and below the stove. Past guests have commented on how nice it was to be able to make meals and have them ready after a long day of hiking and/or skiing. Unit has a large balcony and a working wood burning fireplace with firewood located on the balcony. Quote from a past guest: “The advantages are huge, including walking out of the condo 5 minutes before the lifts start and being among the first chairs up the mountain and eating healthy, homemade food in the comfort of our own living space (no crowds, great view, saving money).” In 2015 the unit also has new carpet throughout, new furniture, new Anderson sliding doors in the bedroom and living room, and freshly painted.

Awesome, slopeside ski-in / ski-out

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful slopeside ski-in / ski-out condo that you can not get any closer to the lifts. You literally walk out of the condo, down a short set of stairs and put your skis on. Then ski right back to the door and go and relax on the large patio facing the great views of the mountain slopes. The patio had access from the living room and bedroom, we were provided with plenty of firewood and matches. The bed was very comfortable, fully stock kitchen to prepare meals. Very much enjoyed the small touches in the condo, like coffee filters, spices, firewood, extra tissues, and toilet paper. Mark was very thorough and provided excellent communication about check in / out, things to do, and restaurants to visit.

If you want a great condo close to the mountain and restaurants, I highly recommend this unit.

Awesome location & very comfy condo!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter & I had an extended President's Day weekend to ski & visit my Western college bound son. We have been to CB numerous times, but always with a bigger group. It was awesome being so close to the lifts and watch it 'come alive' in the morning & quiet down at night. The bed was super comfortable & the fireplace and firewood provided topped off every evening. We cannot wait to rent this property again!

Our Third Time Here!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Mark's condo nearly 30 nights in the last two years and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the great location. We submitted a review last year, so we won't bother repeating all of our positive comments other than to say that Mark continues to be super responsive. For example, this time we had a couple of problems with the internet Wifi (it's provided by the building, and the router needed to be re-booted). We emailed Mark, and within minutes he contacted the property management company, and the problem was taken care of. We look forward to returning again next ski season. Thanks again Mark!

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very well maintained and clean property right on the mountain. You're literally footsteps away from the lifts. You can't beat the location!

Not bad for 2 people

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I went to Crested Butte for a 3 day weekend with a friend. Overall we were happy with our stay, but this condo is definitely better for just two people not three.

The positives:

Location - literally right next to the main lift which was awesome!

Comfortable bed

Clean

Outdoor hot tub with a view of the mountain

The negatives:

You have to walk in the snow at the base to get to the condo entrance which doesnt work so well with roller bags

It was a little noisy in the mornings when they groomed and got the lifts going

No kitchen table - we would have loved a place to play games

Only 4 coffee cups - there were 3 of us so we had to hand wash the cups every day

Kitchen was a bit small for 3 people
