About Evangeline Nebedum
Years ago I made a promise to a friend. I told her I would come out of retirement and help her if she became a principal. Guess what? She I did! In June 2014, I completed my 40th year of teaching (OMG). I now serve as the Computer Coordinator for grades 2nd - 5th grade students. I was born and raised in New Orleans. Graduated from St. Mary's Academy when it was in the French Quarters (long, long time ago). Moved to Los Angeles, CA to attend college and now live in the Bay Area. But, I still call NOLA home and come every 2 - 3 months. My husband and I love to travel. We have sailed most of the caribbean islands with friends, traveled Europe, South America and Africa. Paris is my most favored city. Since we travel with friends, we always rent apartments and prefer that to staying in hotels. I have tried to incorporate all of the good things I like about traveling and staying in homes to the space I have created for you because I want my guests to be comfortable, feel cared about and satisfied when you leave my special get-away home. I am an avid reader with a library of over 700 books, most of them hardbacks. I have placed a number of them on the bookcase for my guests to enjoy. In my spare time I crochet, make jewelry, garden and feed a host of friends. I am in the process of creating a vegetable/herb garden in the back yard for the continued good health of all. Guests will be able to pick whatever is growing in the garden at the time. I love the theater and see a minimum of 3 shows per year, including a few operas. There is also a collection of music and movies for guests to enjoy. My Life's Motto: I believe that no matter what, things are in divine order in the universe. There is no greater power than Love and appreciation. I give thanks for all blessings - those I have received in the past - those I have now, in the present - and those I will have in the future. Thank you for considering and/or booking. Ma maison est votre maison.

Why Evangeline Nebedum chose Uptown and Carrolton District
After Katrina the New Orleans Redevelopment Agency (NORA) set about restoring sections of the city to its previous glory. Freret Street is now being redeveloped with new streets and new businesses. It is the new up-and-coming 'hip' area of N.O. and in a few years will rival popular Oak Street. It is walking distance to St. Charles Ave and the streetcar line as well as Tulane and Loyola Universities. The streetcar line will take you through a scenic route directly to downtown, the French Quarters, and Harrah's Casino. It's also a short distance to the Super Dome.

Jazz Fest 2019
This property is well maintained and very clean. Perfect spot in the Garden District. Lots of things to near and only 10 minute car ride to Bourbon Street. I highly recommend staying at Elaine's place. She was very accommodating to our large group.
Mary thank you for staying with us. Please come again next year.
Freret New Orleans
Four older gents attending Jazz Fest, we chose the Freret location for our home base over a six day stay.
The apartment easily handles four or five guests (or 3 couples) and features two bathrooms (both with showers) and a fully functional kitchen. The outdoor space includes two patio areas with umbrellas and access to a charcoal barbecue. We found the accommodation very clean and all the cooking and bathing facilities fully functional.
The apartment provides one parking space and is within easy driving distance to all the major attractions including Bourbon Street, the Garden District and the Fair Grounds for JazzFest. The Freret area has a student population atmosphere and feels safe for walking around in the evening.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for groups seeking a comfortable and safe home base for enjoying New Orleans and the surrounding area.
Brian, thank you for your graciousness. Please come again next year.
Space, location, and plenty of NOLA fun
The house had plenty of space for our family. The location was great - easy to get to everything we wanted to see. We had a fantastic time in NOLA.
Linda, thank you for staying with us. Please come visit again.
Spacious, clean, nice, good location away from crowds
Very nice, clean, spacious apartment. Easy to get to by car and lots of conveniences within walking distance too. Easy Uber ride to main attractions. Every detail was well thought out. Owner was super nice and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend a stay at this great NOLA find!!
Liz, thank you for staying with us. It was a pleasure having you as a guest. Please visit us again whenever you and your family are in NOLA.
Very cute place and amazing location and very spacious! Just paper thin walls and you have to tip toe around not to get the neighbors upset. Asked to “turn it down a bit” on Friday nite at 9:00 pm when we had my college daughter and her friends over for pizza - just laughing and talking with a bunch of girls. This morning when we were walking around packing up and straightening up prior to leaving, the neighbor knocked on the door to ask us to be quiet. Would only come here if you are a small and very quiet group and are not really in the place much.
This is the first time EVER that I requested noise be turned down “a bit”, and the first time the law students next door EVER text me wondering how many people were staying because of the noise level. The “bunch of girls”, according to the site manager was between 11 and 12. That, was a party!
In my email to you I stated: “Please be aware that while we want everyone to enjoy themselves, there are other tenants next to you. They are two law students and have requested that the noise level be turned down a bit as they are studying. I do hope you understand. Thank you.”
Nothing in my tone was negative, demanding or accusatory.
You responded: “My freshman Tulane college student and I had 6 of her friends over tonight for pizza. We were all talking and laughing in the living room when you emailed. I find it quite absurd that we got a “noise complaint” on a Friday night in New Orleans at 9:00 pm for chatting and laughing with some girlfriends."
To which I responded:
1. There was no “noise complaint”. There was a request that the level be turned down “a bit”.
2. This is what it already says in my VRBO listing: "Because the walls and floors tend to be rather thin in older houses, we have asked everyone to please be mindful of the privacy and overall tone of the building." Everyone being tenants as well as guests.
3. It was neither said nor implied that you could not entertain in the space after 9:00 on a weekend! I find that statement “quite absurd.”
Here is why that was put into the listing. The City of New Orleans is considering limiting and in some areas, forbidding short-term rentals. There is strong pushback against short-term rentals from a large section of the populace. We host MUST be aware of our neighbors, the neighborhood and any perception that we are part of the “problem” rather than a demonstration of “good neighbors” as we conduct our business. In other words, we must be mindful, always, of how our guests, and tenants, conduct themselves.
I am sorry you were offended by the request but it in no way asked you to not entertain after 9:00 or have an enjoyable time with your family and friends, which is what you came to do. Please continue to enjoy the city and the apartment."
We just completed our Mardi Gras season with a group of 6 as we have for the past 5 years. Some parties are 8 and they never had to tiptoe around the apartment or "not be there." This is when we expect guests to be louder than usual and celebrate!
Our stay was nothing short of amazing.... the apartment is very spacious and in the a perfect location. I will definitely stay here again!!
Cynthia, thank you and your family for staying with us. Please come again whenever you are in NOLA. Don't mean to be a mother hen, but I worry when families are on the road late at night. Travel home safely.
Apt. is walking distance to a small park and to Audubon Park and Audubon Zoo. It is also a short walk (1 mile) to Loyola/Tulane Universities. The Super Dome is about 1 miles away. Catch the St. Charles streetcar to get to downtown, the French Quarters and Harrah's Casino.
