About Lin Bernhardt

The husband and wife team of Lin and Lynn love to share their little piece of heaven with others. We're passionate about caring for the land and respecting all living things. We have provided homes for a number of rescued animals including horses, chickens, goats (though not currently), dogs and cats. When away from the farm, we enjoy being in nature and taking off in our camper.

Lin Bernhardt purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Lin Bernhardt chose Southern Oregon

We were so lucky to find this property....having a gorgeous rural home on serene property so close to town....it wasn't even on the market when we purchased it! It was a place for our horses where we could grow our own hay, have a large garden, and be close to all the amazing talent the area has to offer. Theater, art galleries, beautiful wineries, amazing music venues, lakes and rivers close by all add to why we choose to call the Rogue Valley our home.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful open spaces, gardens, animals, privacy, tranquility, and a serene country setting but close in to name just a few!

Wonderful!

Wish we could have spent more time at this lovely studio and town. I would recommend a 2 day stay for sure. My daughter loved the animals and I loved the back yard. Also, went into town and met some locals at the wine bar.

Very comfortable studio in a lovely setting.

Our main purpose in coming to Talent was the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in nearby Ashland but we were amazed by the beauty of the farm and the surrounding area. Although we loved seeing the plays, staying at the farm will be what we remember most. There were lots of orchards around us and country roads to walk. We loved socializing with the dogs, cats, horses, chickens and geese. The studio was great: the kitchen was well equipped, the bed and bath were comfortable and it was peaceful and pleasant there. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful and peaceful

Really enjoyed are stay at the property. It was all we hoped for. The only difficulty was with the HomeAway application and getting the information for access to the property. We were on travel and without broadband access when this information was sent, then the application was very slow once we finally did get a signal.

Beautiful, clean, restorative and quite unique! :)

We drove in the late afternoon with very clear directions from the owners of the gate code, etc.

And the place is absolutely gorgeous, like a postcard of a small pastoral farm, including the picturesque barn. We were greeted by a gaggle of geese as we drove in, and my two little children were immediately entranced. The owners were there to greet us after a long hot day on the road... the small studio we chose was perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean... beyond charming and clearly well-tended to. The children were excited and curious to be there and Lin took us to meet the rescue horses, the dogs, and the chickens... my two young children got to pet a blind chicken and feed the horses a bit, and more importantly, we got to talk about farms, their value in our world, and taking care of animals that others have not treated well. The kitchen is fully appointed, the backyard of the studio area was a meadow with large trees and my children and dog got to run around in the early evening light to their heart's content... it was truly magical. After a long day's drive, to have the privilege to stay at someone's working farm was not lost on me. I thank Lin and Lin for letting us stay - I am always fully aware that a single Mom, a little dog and two little kids can be a worrisome handful to anyone who says yes without having met us first... we slept well and recommend this oasis off the main road (great directions by the way!) just outside of Ashland on our way to coastal Oregon for the summer. Truly memorable and a great way to wake up to a new day on the road. THANK YOU so much for listing and opening your very special and unique property and being such great hosts...we have such lovely memories and the children loved talking about it on the way and after we left. Truly worth the visit and leagues above a night in any motel!

Please note that this is a working farm. While machinery is only operating in the hay field on a very occasional basis, we attempt to minimize noise and try to limit mowing/baling when guests are not present. Agricultural activity also occurs on adjacent farms but the serenity of the countryside is rarely interrupted.
We do ask studio guests to leave the studio clean for the next guests.
