About Lin Bernhardt
The husband and wife team of Lin and Lynn love to share their little piece of heaven with others. We're passionate about caring for the land and respecting all living things. We have provided homes for a number of rescued animals including horses, chickens, goats (though not currently), dogs and cats. When away from the farm, we enjoy being in nature and taking off in our camper.
Lin Bernhardt purchased this Cottage in 2011
Why Lin Bernhardt chose Jackson County
We were so lucky to find this property....having a gorgeous rural home on serene property so close to town....it wasn't even on the market when we purchased it! It was a place for our horses where we could grow our own hay, have a large garden, and be close to all the amazing talent the area has to offer. Theater, art galleries, beautiful wineries, amazing music venues, lakes and rivers close by all add to why we choose to call the Rogue Valley our home.
What makes this Cottage unique
Beautiful open spaces, gardens, animals, privacy, tranquility, and a serene country setting but close in to name just a few!

So peaceful and relaxing! The studio was just beautiful! Hosts were amazing!
Shady Grove Farm is the perfect get-a-way for peace and serenity.
The farm was even more than I expected. After completing another year of teaching, I flew to Medford OR and drove to Shady Grove Farm to reconnect with the peace and beauty of nature. And that is just what I was able to do. The property is absolutely stunning- 2 lakes, an orchard next to the farm, a rustic barn, horses, chickens, a gobbling turkey, and a friendly dog and cat. Linn and Lynn were the perfect hosts. The studio was lovely, clean and comfortable. I am once again back in Houston, but I can still hear the sounds of the bullfrog in the lake and the crow of the rooster as the sun rose each morning. I took so many beautiful photographs as I journeyed to the lakes each day and look forward to using them as references at my easel. I will never forget the beauty and serenity of this lovely farm.
Really lovely setting, comfortable thoughtful setup of space, nice feeling of privacy
We enjoyed our stay at Shady Grove Farm. Chickens, turkeys, dogs, geese, pond, hayfield, many trees, flowers, green areas. Five miles from Ashland and plays. We didn't have time to explore Talent where the farm was located, but there were local charms for sure. Lovely setting and comfortable lodging.
A welcoming couple on a lovely slice of farmland just outside the quiet and peaceful town of Talent
We stayed in a stand alone studio amongst the main house, B & B and cottage. The site’s farm acreage is surrounded by a large pear orchard in April’s full bloom. Two ponds, geese and goslings, friendly dogs and horses grace the farm. The room was cozy and neat, with all that we needed for an overnight stay. A pleasant way to see a play in Ashland and then come to Talent to relax.
Shady Grove Farm in Talent Oregon was Positively Lovely
Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved my time at the Tranquil Small Farm/Shady Grove in Talent, Oregon. The studio is lovely, clean, cozy and SO quiet. I had my dog with me and we so enjoyed walking around the farm. I was sad to leave but will definitely be back. And Talent is very close to Ashland, so I could drive to see plays in minutes - but then really appreciated coming home to such a lovely, tranquil setting.
Quiet, Serene Spot to Rest
Driving through the Ashland area at the end of a long road trip and this was the perfect place to rest up.
Very quiet property, great animals to hang out with (our dog loved meeting the other pups, and certainly did a double take with the horses), peaceful and mellow farm.
Ashland has some great food options (we found out Talent was a little light depending on what you were looking for) and is just down the road.
This small hay farm is located in a beautiful country setting with large ponds surrounded by old willows and other mature trees. Shady Grove Farm is centrally located yet walking distance to the quaint village of Talent. It's easy access from Interstate 5 and just minutes to Ashland, Jacksonville and Medford. In 10 minutes you can be at a Shakespeare Festival Play or hiking up Wagner Butte. Walk to a play at the Camelot Theater and/or dine at one of several good restaurants in Talent.
Additional pricing information
Please note that this is a working farm. While machinery is only operating in the hay field on a very occasional basis, we attempt to minimize noise and try to limit mowing/baling when guests are not present. Agricultural activity also occurs on adjacent farms but the serenity of the countryside is rarely interrupted. We do ask studio guests to leave the studio clean for the next guests.
