It is ideal for picnics, yoga, relaxing or just taking in some lovely fresh air! The second garden is a large paved patio which is accessible through the kitchen. This is perfect for long lunches, sunbathing or doing exercises.
The house is situated on the edge of the village of Durrus, 10 kms from the historic and vibrant town of Bantry and 92kms from the city of Cork.

I live and work in London but I know and love Ireland from my childhood. It has always been a special place for me and I am glad to still have this house to make this connection with the country strong.
Mill Race House purchased this cottage in 1990
This was my grandmothers house and it is very dear to me, I am renting it so that it stays in the family. I hope that it brings as much joy to you as much as it does me.
The magnificent thing about this house is you feel completely closed of from the world and totally at piece, however you are mere metres from the lively little town of Durrus. It is very comfortable and has a warm feel to it and there are plenty of great bars nearby so if you fancy ducking out of the quiet life it is easily done!
Clean and well-appointed.
We stayed in this house with another couple and two children. It's large and very clean. Really lovely kitchen for cooking and enjoying evening meals. Lovely big sitting room with comfortable couches and open fire. TV with channels and DVDs provided. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large. Lots of towels and clean bed linen provided. Back garden is enclosed, great for kids and just off the kitchen so great for spending time outdoors. Durrus had a couple of pubs and a good shop to get supplies but Bantry isn't far for more restaurants and a supermarket. Very near to lots of walks on Sheep's Head and lots of small villages with nice restaurants. One day was extremely wet and the house feels a bit cold and damp in that weather but Eimear had left us fuel for the open fire which was lovely. Would really recommend this as a summer rental and really enjoyed our stay.
Tons of room to spread out! House is not modern fancy, but charming, as is the private large garden area. If you're a cook, you'll love the kitchen. Not a lot of choices of restaurants in Durrus but you're only 7 miles from Bantry, which is cute, small town with plenty of choices. The lady who takes care of house is sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable about all sorts of things to do in the area. She is available if you need her for anything but leaves you to your privacy. We loved the break from the touristy big cities.
Charming old cottage that offers the taste of quaint old Ireland. Very comfortable, clean and bright full of quaint antiquities and an amazing library. Fabulous kitchen if you love to cook and satellite tv if you can't live without your sports! Brilliant location that offers privacy and tranquillity yet close to neighboring towns like Bantry. Ideal to use as a base to explore around Cork and Killarney.
We loved our stay there and would love to return again.
Wonderful romantic cottage with a garden filled with wild flowers, a lovely hearth with logs and turf supplied, a great free standing bath, and really interesting and unique furniture, ornaments and trinkets throughout. The kitchen is fitted out to a professional standard and I loved the little "spoon rest". The whole process couldn't have been easier via the VRBO booking website and the lovely Eimear (whose mum serves really excellent fish and chips in the local pub by the way). It rained non stop for our whole week, but we still loved it, that says a lot.
We stayed at the cottage for a week at the end of an unusually dry summer in West Cork. We know the area very well but have not stayed at this property before. We found it extremely comfortable and made particular use of the conservatory and outdoor area as the sitting room is somewhat dark during the day. Extremely well presented and very clean. The house is much more spacious than one expects from the listing and has been sympathetically renovated. We spent the week walking locally except for one stunning day out at Mizen head. Do not miss the scones at Ryan's and beg borrow and steal to go for dinner at Blair's Cove. We first went in 1983 and it is still as good as it was then with only very subtle changes over the years. We also had a good meal at Arundel's in Ahakista. We didn't need the heating and never used the oven so can't comment on either. It wasn't very wet so we didn't even have to dry boots and jackets! Eimear is very helpful and welcoming and I'm sure would be a great person for advice if you don't know the area.
The small town of Durrus has to offer restaurants, bars, scenic walks in local countryside, Irish charm and hospitality, live music, and the many bays within a ten to twenty minute walk.
You are a ten minute drive from Bantry which can offer sea fishing, golf, a wider selection of bars, music and restaurants. There is also a charming market in the market square and many historical sights such as Bantry House.
There are further attractions throughout the county such as Blarney castle and the famous Blarney Stone. The English Market in Cork city and the many museums within the Capitol. The fantastic live music in Clonakility and it's market. Kinsale town has a wide variety of excellent restaurants and the harbour port has a number of entertaining distractions.
Or it is easy to relax and stay in the local area and drink well and eat good food. Whatever it is you are looking for we are happy to advise and offer our insights.
