Could Have Been 5 Stars...

My husband and I stayed at this oceanfront property in April 2016 for 4 nights. First, the positive: Laurie responded to all my pre-rent questions quickly and fully. The unit is as pictured, with direct ocean frontage, a lovely view of the ocean as described in previous reviews, well equipped with everything from extra toilet paper to kitchen knives; a washer/dryer in unit, easy parking, able to use a cc to pay, able to accommodate late check-in; owner emphasized multiple times that if I needed anything I should not hesitate to call her or "Marc" who lived a couple of doors down. Now, the not-so-positive:The beach has been replenished with dredged "sand", which is actually ground up shells that are sharp and not easy to walk on (not the owner's fault, of course); the main complaint I have occurred on the last night we were there. We went out for a late dinner and returned around 9pm to find we had almost NO water pressure..There was brownish water sputtering out of the tap-when water flowed at all. So, I called Laurie and had to leave a message because there was no answer. I also called Marc-no answer. I then texted Laurie-no answer. My husband went outside to check for anything obvious such as a broken pipe, etc.. since everything was fine just a few hours before..He found a sprinkler on by the entrance to the property and turned it off, as he had noticed it had been on when we left to go to dinner. Soon, the water pressure began to return and my husband texted Laurie that it seemed to be coming back. A few minutes after he sent that text (and we have now been trying to fix the water for about an hour) Laurie did text back, thanking me for letting her know, and advising me that she and her husband were staying downstairs for a few nights and also had very low pressure-and I should let her know if I had any other problems (I guess she was just curious, because she certainly didn't seem inclined to actually do anything to help her tenants!). The icing on the cake was when "Marc" called the next day around 9AM! WOW! I guess we were lucky my husband was proactive! I have had rental property myself, and understand that nobody likes getting late night calls about plumbing, or anything else-but it comes with the job! I would never call someone late at night (10PM)for a trivial matter that could not wait until regular business hours...I think having water to shower and brush your teeth is pretty important-particularly if the landlady happens to be downstairs!

Great Value, Clean, and Great Location

This rental was extremely clean and well stocked with toilet paper, dish and hand soap, and towels. It also had everything we needed to cook our meals. Laurie was very friendly and responsive in communication leading up to our stay and met us personally when we arrived. She provided a lot of helpful information about the history of the area, things to do, and places to eat. Their is easy access to a grocery store and restaurants and downtown St. Augustine is just a quick drive across the bridge. The best parts though were the ocean views and beach access. The ocean is visible from the master bedroom, the living room, and the back patio and the beach is just steps away! It really was a great value for the location and all the amenities that come with the house.

Traveling from Daphne, AL searching online for something close to St. Augustine that would be comfortable and in a nice location. The downstairs was very cozy and had more amenities than we expected. Owner was super nice and met us there upon arrival to make sure we got settled in. All we needed was food and luckily there

was a Publix right down the street along with several restaurants and close to all the main sights and attractions. The unit was very clean and nicely decorated . Even though it was cold we still got to walk on the beach which is just outside the back door. Will definitely try to go back in the summer or fall. Great value on top of everything else!

Comfortable, clean, well appointed and a very good value.

First time visit to Vilano Beach and this apartment was just right for a vacation stay. Living space and bedrooms are very roomy. Kitchen is good sized and very well equipped. Everything was very clean and well organized. Lots of towels in bathroom and extra toilet paper - which you don't always find at rental units. Although we didn't use it, a full size washer and dryer can be very useful when you're at the beach! Loved the outside patio and grass yard. And the ocean, indeed, is just steps away from your living space. Owner was very responsive to email contacts and made arrangements for us to be met at the unit upon arrival. Location is great. Very close to a Publix, several Vilano Beach restaurants, and St. Augustine is just over the bridge. Do yourself a favor and make sure you take a ride across the bridge TO Vilano Beach - it's one of the most spectacular views you'll see.

great location and exceptionally clean

This was great for my family 2 adults 2 kids. Unit had everything and could not believe how clean it was. Much cleaner than units managed by rental companies. Laurie personally took time to show us around the unit to ensure no issues. You can't beat this for the price or location, we will be coming back next year.
