Our Top Floor Apartment is in a prime waterfront location in the unspoilt fishing village of Santa Luzia.

Our spacious non-overlooked private terrace with built in BBQ commands stunning uninterrupted views by day and amazing sunsets by night superbly positioned by the waters edge of the Ria Formosa in the unspoilt fishing village of Santa Luzia, 4km west of Tavira.

For your comfort there are Air-Conditioning units in the bedroom and lounge for cooling in the summer and heating for the winter evenings.

We will meet & greet you at the apartment, show you how everything works and advise you on the best restaurants, places of interest etc.

There is a lovely fresh fruit & veg shop to the front of the apartment block and is adjacent to all amenities including great fresh seafood restaurants, a speciality Tea shop, Rent-A-Bike Shop, grocery stores, pharmacy, bank and small shops.

Once you are here, you do not need a car as everything is a short stroll away. If you wish to explore further afield then a car is advisable.

The white sandy beaches are safe, gently sloping and can be reached by ferry boat, which you can see sitting from your terrace or take a short walk to catch the miniature railway to Barril beach near Pedras del Rei complex which has a swimming pool.

The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being peaceful, uncrowded, safe and unpolluted, there are beach restaurants and shower facilities. The renting of boats, windsurf boards etc are available.

You can also hire a water taxi to Santa Luzia beach which is particularly empty compared with Barril and has a nice beach snack bar.

The apartment is only 8 Km's from Junction 16 of the A22 motorway, near the lovely old town of Tavira; it is an ideal base to explore the eastern Algarve.

The fishing village is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve Park, a large system of tidal lagoons. A perfect location for long walks to discover the marvellous world of fauna and flora that lives in this part of the Eastern Algarve coast, a bird watchers paradise.

Santa Luzia has beautiful terraces where you can enjoy a meal and a drink or two with the locals and watch the world go by, it's Bars and Restaurants serve excellent and reasonably priced food.

Not only has the Algarve the best golfing climate in Europe it also has some of the best courses and facilities.

To the West, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo courses are within 30 mins of the Apartment and Vilamoura a further 15 mins further on.

Benamor, Quinta de Cima and the Quinta de Ria are within 10 minutes and Castro Marim a further 15 minutes.

The watershoot park near Loule is only 35 Minutes away and is great fun! Or swim with the dolphins at Zoomarine within 45 minutes.

The fully tiled kitchen has a double sink drainer with good quality worktops and units. There is a washing machine, family size fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker & cafeteria, lots of cutlery and cups, glasses etc, and a large selection of cooking utensils, sufficient to prepare a dinner party for 4. One double bedroom with large fitted wardrobes with drawers, patio doors to the south facing front terrace overlooking the Ria Formosa Fully tiled bathroom with shower over bath, W/C, sink, lighted dressing mirror and bidet. The lounge has a 26" Flat-Screen TV with English Terrestrial channels, BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc, some in HD. There is a comfortable 3 seater sofa-bed and one 3 seater settee, with coffee table and sideboard. Our non-overlooked large terrace with 2 reclining chairs for sunbathing, for the evening meal there is a built-in BBQ, a patio table with 4 chairs and parasol, Sit, sip a long cool drink and enjoy the wonderful sunsets.

Amazing holiday resort.

Our stay in your apartment was for us one of the most relaxing holiday we have had over recent years.The Apartment is in an lovely position facing out over the Ria Formosa with excellent views.Santa Luzia is an old fishing village with a great deal of charm and a slow pace of life which we really enjoyed.The apartment was as described and would have no hesitation in booking it again.

Great Apartment in a Fantastic Location

We stayed for a week in this apartment in the charming fishing village of Santa Luzia. The apartment was exactly as described, with a very convenient location, excellent presentation and amazing views. The views from the terraces were endlessly changing and we had superb weather for 6 of the 7 days we were there. Santa Luzia is a working village as well as a tourist destination which makes for a good ambience, even out of season. Lots of good restaurants, selection of mini supermarkets and convenient for bigger destinations such as Tavira, which is a beautiful town. We toured along the coast, with its amazing beaches and even did a day trip to Seville - just under 2 hours drive.

All in all, this was one of the best holidays we have had. The apartment has everything you need and the whole booking process and arragements worked very smoothly and efficiently.

Great Holidays in a wonderful Place

Everybody who wants to make holidays in the very nice fishing village of Santa Luzia will love this beautiful apartment and feel like home from home!

It offers not only a wonderful 360° view from the roof-terrace, but as well a view over the harbour, to the beach and sunset from the huge balcony in front of the kitchen and bedroom, where you will find everything you want (BBQ, table and chairs for sitting outside...).

Inside the apartment offers all comforts, plenty of space, washing-machine, micro-wave, fridge, TV, Radio, heaters, bath tub, a comfortable bed and the cosy living-room has even another terrace with view to a place, where you can watch the old men playing Boule every afternoon.

Everything is like to be seen on the photos, only that i reality the rooms seem wider than on the pictures.

The apartment is the last one in the first row to the river, it is very quiet, but you have only 1 minute to a small supermarket and only some footsteps to bars and restaurants, where you will meet not only tourists, but also friendly fishermen and other locals .

Brian helps you in arranging everything.

So you will spend very fine holidays here which I will recommend to friends and family in my native Germany.

Rental in Santa Luzia, Portugal

This apartment on the Algarve had everything we needed. The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had a fridge, microwave, and stove, and lots of cupboard space, so we were able to buy and store food for making our meals. The grocery stores were very nearby - 4 of them within easy walking distance. There were many restaurants if you wanted to eat out. The town is close to a major highway, so it was easy to get out and explore other places on the Algarve.

However, there were a few things that took away from "the home away from home" feeling. The apartment was clean enough, but not pristine, especially the toilet.The home isn't used all year round, so there was an unused, musty smell about it. We were given 2 bath towels, 4 hand towels and a tea towel for the whole week. This was not enough, even though we had a washing machine - we had rain while we were there, and couldn't get the towels dry fast enough. There were no extra toilet rolls, no paper towels, no dish cloth, no dish soap, no laundry detergent, no condiments for cooking, and no sugar. We bought the smallest amount of these things, but had to leave the majority of it behind. My husband and I both agree that these basics should be provided. If it weren't for these few problems, we would say the apartment was perfect.

Excellent Holiday Apartment

"We had an excellent holiday, everything about it was ideal. The apartment was very comfortable, the best we have had from every aspect, and Santa Luzia is a lovely place.

We manged to explore the area using a Taxi once, the local Bus and Train service as well as taking lovely walks.

To complete a perfect holiday the weather was very kind to us.

We would certainly love to go back again sometime, which speaks for itself, as normally I personnally like to visit somewhere different each time"

The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being peaceful, uncrowded, safe, unpolluted and extend for 12 kms.

Santa Luzia beach is 5 minutes by regular ferry boat; you can see it come in from your terrace.

Barril beach by walking or alternatively a short miniature train ride from Pedras d’El Rei, a great adventure for children.

There are beach restaurants, café bars and shower facilities.

The renting of boats, windsurf boards etc are available.


Faro Airport - 35 Kilometres, approximately 30 minutes.


Within 4kms Tavira offers a great range of shops and supermarkets (Pingo Doce, Lidle), bars/restaurants abound many specialising in seafood. The beautiful river Gilão runs through the centre of town and on those warm summer nights public entertainment can be found in the park by the river.

Further Details:

The climate is mild and mellow and so is the character of the land and its people. Spring, with its profusion of wildflowers, comes very early. Summers are long; winters are short. The air is free of pollution and light breezes prevent even the hottest midsummer days from becoming oppressive. The Algarvian lifestyle is easy-going, fatalistic and unfettered by concern for time.

The Algarve's healthy climate, pure air are nicely complemented by wholesome, locally-caught and home-grown food.

In particular, there is a wonderfully wide range of seafood, including all sorts of clams, prawns and lobster, and delicious fresh fish such as halibat, swordfish, tuna, sea bass and sea bream.

Eating out in the restaurants of Santa Luzia is all the more delightful because Portuguese wines are so good and so reasonably priced.

We have a number of excellent markets nearby (a detailed list will be in the apartment) where you can pick up some real bargains.

There is an interesting car-boot near the beach of Fuzeta where you will find some unusual items. Ayamonte, 20 mins (the Spanish border) town has a similar market every Saturday.

Tourist resort towns with entertainment, bars, restaurants and casinos only a 10 - 40 minute drive away (depending which town you would like to visit).

Finally, For those of you who do not want to just stay on the beach and want to see more of the original Algarve then a circular drive through Moncarapacho, Estói, Olhão and Tavira is well worth doing, with the A22 link this makes a good half day visit.

A breakages deposit of £100 (payable with your balance) which will be refunded within 5 days on return of the apartment keys to us providing our agent has found everything to be in order after checking the apartment inventory.

Changeover Day:
Saturday in High/Peak summer season, we are flexible, please ask. For early arrivals, arrangements can easily be made to leave the bags at the apartment.

Notes on prices:
Payments can be made online or by cheque.
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds based on 2 people sharing, add £35 for each additional person per week. Discounts for longer winter lets.
There is a minimum charge of £40.00 per night.

Changeover day is Saturday in high/peak summer season, we are flexible, please ask for details.
