About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Our family cottage is nestled in the East Kootenay Valley under the watchful eye of the Purcell Mountain Range and wrapped by the Columbia River. Renowned for its warmth and comfort, the cabin is an ideal place for couples or a family to curl up and enjoy a relaxed get-away in front of the fire or as a home base for an action packed vacation.

The cabin is fully equipped with all appliances and amenities to make your vacation easy and worry free. The open floor plan allows the cooks, using a well equipped kitchen, to be part of the action in the rest of the front room. The large front deck, with the portable gas barbecue, makes a wonderful place to hang out, enjoying the golfer's swing, or admiring the awesome mountain view. The mountain air will give a wonderful sleep in any of the 2 Queen size or 3 extra long twin beds. Enjoy a soak in the antique claw foot bathtub, or a hot shower in the wheelchair accessible shower. Have a friendly competition with the family on the ping pong table downstairs, or convert it to the pool table and take on all comers.

All you need to bring is your food and clothes - everything else is there for you. Remember your swim suit for the hot pools and swims in the Columbia River that is just across the road.

Fairmont is ideally positioned in the valley making it an ideal destination for year round sporting activities. Look under 'Canada Travel' or 'Explore the Kootenays' websites for activities in the area.

Please call Tracy, or check out the cabin website at the end of this listing, to check out availability and additional information on the property.

About Adam Jewell

The Jewell family built this cabin in 1976 as a family retreat. In 2000 the Jewell family started renting the cabin to family friends and others. We are now starting with the fourth generation coming to the cabin to enjoy the hot pools, golf, skiing, long walks and being together as a family.

Adam Jewell purchased this house in 1976

Why Adam Jewell chose Fairmont Hot Springs

Fairmont Hot Springs was a family destination for camping during the May and September long weekends since the early '60s. When the opportunity arose to purchase property in 1976 as the Mountainside Golf Course was being built, Bob and Doris Jewell jumped at the idea of family retreat that wasn't in a tent. They spent many happy times at the cabin, and a great deal of time on the golf course. Their love of the area they passed on to their children, and we have passed the same love on to our children and now our grandchildren. A wonderful legacy.

What makes this house unique

Fairmont area is truly beautiful in all four seasons. From a cabin that provides all the necessities, one has access to many choices for both summer and winter activities. Lots of golf courses, hiking, fishing, downhill or cross country ski/boarding areas. The Fairmont Hot Springs Pools are great at any time of the year.

The property is always very very clean which I really appreciate! Ample bedding and a very well stocked kitchen has everything you need. The mountain view out the back can’t be beat and the kids love the pool table and ping pong table downstairs

My boyfriend and I were wanting to just get out of the city. Perfect little location on the golf course. Nice and quiet. The cabin was nice and clean and had a very homely feeling to it. We also brought our fur baby and she enjoyed the stay as well! Would definitely stay here again. Also only a 2 minute drive to the resort where we went to spend a little bit of time which was nice.

Well supplied

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Jewell Family Cabin. The location is ideal, there was everything we could have wanted to make our stay comfortable...the only issue was that there were so many kitchen gadgets that we struggled to find places to store our food. Also, the single sleeping area in the basement had no door...which was a bit inconvenient. The bathrooms were very nice. Overall a good stay.

Owner's Response: Very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Jewell Family Cabin. We always find it a great place to relax and recharge in the mountains of British Columbia. The lower level is an open design for the queen bed sleeping area. Thank you for mentioning the nice bathrooms we worked hard for the mix of multiple modern shower facilities and creature comforts like the main bathroom's clawfoot tub. Making sure to include modern comforts of home like today's fast internet with the pleasures of a cozy fire in the brick fireplace or a game of billiards/pool with the kids has made the cabin a favorite destination for our family and friends for over 40 years.

Beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay, very quiet and relaxing. Was able to ski at both Kimberley and Pano with a reasonable drive. The cottage was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The cabin is rustic but appliances were new enough and wifi was better than many hotels, so a good combination of new and old. The best past is the view of the mountains and the deer walking by throughout the day, although our city dogs did not know what to make of them the first couple of days.
