Our Lake Cabin was completely renovated in modern Scandinavian design and completed in 2015. It sits just off of one of the most desired and quiet lakes in Minnesota, Trout Lake, on the Whitefish Chain.
Relax out on the back deck, on the dock, or even in the sauna, all of which overlook the lake and its sunset.
The cabin has 2 bedrooms on the ground floor/ attached bathrooms, and an upstairs loft with a king size bed/ 2 twin beds. It also has a rec room above the garage, complete with a large couch, TV, and poker/ card table. The kitchen has been fully remodeled, complete with all new stainless appliances. A full deck sits on the north side with a gas grill and chiminea that looks out to Big Trout Lake, one of the only freshwater coral lakes in the US. Enjoy Smores and your favorite beverage of choice by our large fire pit right off the water.
Bring your family and come check out our piece of paradise!
My wife grew up in Brainerd, MN, the closest airport to the property, operated by Delta airlines. Her deal was, if we live in TX, we will have to find a way to spend time in MN for the summer. This place has a true spot in our hearts and we just wish we had more time to spend up there- and want our guests to enjoy it as much as we do!
This year is special because it is completely remodeled the way we (she) wanted it, in Scandinavian interior and design. We spent all of last summer and this winter going over plans and it finally has come together.
Also, we are avid golfers and have plenty of feedback for other area activities and things to do, please email us if interested in finding out more on the area and what it has to offer. There are plenty of options!
Greg Davis purchased this cabin in 2012
As stated above, this is the area my wife grew up and the best lake on the Whitefish Chain, a beautiful chain of lakes offering plenty of restaurants and beautiful views to enjoy.
We plan on using this property for years to come with our family and decided to open it up to others when we are not around simply because we don't want it to go to waste. At this stage of our lives, we have only been able to use it one month out of the year.
We looked at plenty of other properties all across this chain of lakes, there are plenty in this area worth looking at but Big Trout Lake is very special and anyone familiar with the area will agree. Great swimming and clear water (rock bottom, no weeds!), beautiful sunsets, it is just the lake of choice for us and many others. We prefer the Whitefish Chain because it is a little further north than Gull Lake area, still has multiple lakes and boating opportunities, great people, and beautiful elevation and views in comparison to other areas and lakes.
We had a flood two winters ago and had to make a decision whether or not we would just fix it up and sell or go ahead and design our dream cabin (a few years earlier than planned) now and attempt to use it as much as possible. Well...it is nearly finished and we couldn't be happier about the results and times we can see ahead to use the property!
We haven't spent enough time to really enjoy the new layout yet but before the flood and still today, we love the view from the upstairs loft. For our guests, there is a king bed and two twins (one big happy family?!), as well as a couple of sitting areas up there to read or enjoy quiet time while overlooking the lake and beautiful pine trees below.-
Still have fond memories of our 4th of July weekend at this lovely home on Trout Lake. We loved the Scandinavian charm, cleanliness and well stocked kitchen and supplies. We also appreciated the comfortable beds and sauna. The large front deck was enjoyed as was the cozy TV room. The walking trail right outside the door was used every day. We couldn't improve on much except to say we carefully thought to each trip up and down the stairs to the beach. Once there, however, the sandy bottom was a treat. Great location, with quick access to town for supplies - etc. Would definitely stay again!
Your cabin was perfect for our family. The kitchen was great for the Foodies that we are. The boat lift accommodated our 20 ft inboard and was quick and easy to get many ski runs in on the beautiful lake. Lots of stairs helped with a cardio workout. We would love to come back next year!
We spent 4 nights at this property and the Cabin had every amenity that we could ask for. The Cabin is beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. The location and the lake is breathtaking. You have access to the whole Whitefish chain from this lake without taking your boat out of the water. The ladies enjoyed the local boutique shopping and the family enjoyed the boat ride to the Wharf on the lake for food, beverages, and people watching. The kids could swim right from the dock and is near the public boat launch. Owners of the property were amazing with their quick response time to each of my questions. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to planning our next stay!
We spent the 4th of July weekend at this great cabin and we couldn’t be more pleased, we had a fabulous time! The cabin had everything and combined with a boat rental from Al’s Marine, we really had all we needed to have a great stay. And it truly felt as being in your own home, so relaxing! Fully agree with all things that have been said in previous reviews below by Mark, Chris & Natalie as well so no need to duplicate those comments.
If I try to find any negatives, the only thing that comes to my mind is one thing; the cabin is located 4000 miles from Sweden!
Thanks again Greg for being so accommodating. We will definitely try to stay at your cabin again in the future!
We had two couples and five children stay at this cabin and it was perfectly suited for our group. First, it is a great cabin - newly renovated, a great layout with a loft for the kids to sleep, two great bedrooms, a nice deck, a sauna (!!!!), and a bonus entertainment room over the garage where the kids could hang out. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed - there was even a nice gym in the garage, bikes, some tubes for the lake....really everything we could ask for. It is right on the water with a nice dock making everything super easy when we accessing the lake with the kids. It is in a great location in Cross Lake - I heard many times that Trout Lake was the best lake on the chain, and after our stay I would have to agree.
Everything was set up perfectly for a nice and relaxing vacation. Greg (the owner) was very easy to work with on the rental - always available by phone and very informative and accommodating on how to make our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
We would definitely look to stay at this cabin again in the future - we really had a great family vacation and could not ask for anything more! Thanks again Greg!
I would rate this property a perfect 10 out of 10. This place truly has everything you can ask for: spacious cabin stocked with everything you should need! Kitchen is spectacular. There were even hidden gems not mentioned on the site: bike/running paths near the cabin, squat rack and free weights in the garage to get your workouts in :) Being avid boaters, Big Trout Lake may have been the best lake we have ever been on. Clear, clean waters and amazing sunsets. Venture out in the whitefish chain for some more boating or grabbing some food at the variety of restaurants on the lake. The owners of this cabin were very nice, helpful and accommodating. If you are looking for the best spot on the whitefish chain, I would recommend this property to anyone. We will be back that is for sure!
