About Simona

We are a family that loves the outdoors! That is why we purchased RISE Lodge in Arnold. The area offers something for every time of year and for every age group. Most importantly, the cabin allows for great family bonding time which we hope you enjoy.

Simona purchased this house in 2013

Why Simona chose Gold Country / High Sierra

We purchased this home because it sits on a beautiful piece of land, lush with redwoods. The street and the neighbors, while visible are a good distance away to provide plenty of privacy. Once we purchased the cabin, we began a remodeling project which included new floors, a new stone spa style master bath, a complete addition of a game room and much more. Now the home offers rustic cabin charm with all the updates of modern convenience.

What makes this house unique

The incredible thing about RISE Lodge are the three decks. The main deck, raised 20 feet in the air and over 450sq feet in size makes you feel like you are floating in the redwoods. (The deck is secure for young children and small dogs.) The deck includes an 8 person conversation area with a table that turns into a fire pit, a BBQ and a large square dinning table set for 8. The hot tub deck offers privacy for the spa and the rear deck offers more forested mountain views and a breakfast/bar table.

Comfortable place to spend a week away!

  • 4 of 5

This property was perfect for a fun family getaway. The house had plenty of space, was well-stocked with necessities in the kitchen, and our kids loved the playroom in the basement that included plenty of toys and books! The house was overall clean and well-maintained. The beds were pretty comfortable. A very relaxing environment. It did feel pretty secluded, but no one was in the cabin right next to or below this property during our stay. It may not be what you are looking for if you want a lot of privacy and end up staying while there are people in the properties next to this house.

We were slightly disappointed that the air-conditioning was only in the bedrooms. Perhaps we missed this in the fine print, but as we had planned to do most of our cooking at the house and had even pre-made several frozen dinners to bake in the oven, it got a little unbearable in the kitchen and living area while cooking dinner. This wouldn't be a problem most of the year, however- just not very pleasant in the summer if you plan to do any indoor cooking.

We did enjoy the access to the pool and beach (and it was a really fun beach and pool), but have to admit again that we were slightly disappointed. First, the area that passes are included for is not the closest beach and pool access. We were pretty bummed that we couldn't just walk to the beach like we had expected when we looked at google maps, but instead had to load up the car and drive several miles away. Also, although access to the lake and pool is technically included, you do still have to pay. We had assumed (again maybe just missed it in the fine print), that we would be given free access, but this is not the case. It is actually $10 per person (total of $30 for a family of up to 5) per day. We had planned on going to swim every day for just a an hour or two after sightseeing and hiking and needless to say our kids were pretty upset when we told them that we would not be paying every day just so they could swim for a little bit. So we ended up having to change around some our plans so we could spend an entire day at the beach/pool to get our money's worth. We did however find a free beach not far from the house with a smaller beach area and was more crowded, but at least gave us an opportunity to just drop in (White Pines Lake, next to Sierra Nevada Logging Museum).

Big Trees State Park (great kids programs if you can catch them) and Copperopolis were two of our families favorite spots on this trip.

Very roomy home, great deck but overall house was dirty and not as nice as we expected.

  • 2 of 5

This is a very roomy home and is located in a great spot in Arnold. Easily accessible to the main stores, etc. However, when we arrived the house was not as clean as we would expect. Dirty towels from the previous renter were still in a dirty hamper, clean towels were in the dryer and not put away - house keeping left a note. The bathroom rugs were dirty, clearly not cleaned or vacuumed between renters. The BBQ outside was so dirty it's a major fire danger, and cleaning tools were not even worth keeping as all the steel was missing.

On a positive note, the deck is amazing and was were we spent most our time.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

The house is even better in person! Wonderful location, close to everything. The owners responded right away when we had one small issue with the hot tub. The cabin is well stocked and a wonderful location to spend a family vacation. I highly recommend!
