About the property

7 Bedroom, 6.5 Bathrooms, 5-Acre Estate, Minutes to Downtown

Stonecote is a 5-acre estate built in 1920. It is fully updated and professionally decorated. It has 7 bedrooms (each with a television), and sleeps 18 in beds (including 2 pull-out sofa beds). Room configurations include: 3 master suites each with private baths in the main house, and another master suite w/bath, living area and kitchen in the pool house. The main house features a gourmet kitchen with butler's pantry featuring 2 built in refrigerators, 2 wall ovens, 2 warming drawers, 3 dishwashers, an ice-maker, a 6 burner Viking gas cook top, wine cooler and Carrera marble counters. The living room features multiple, comfortable, conversation areas, antique baby grand piano and wood-burning fireplace. The large dining room can seat up to 20. Also, the large sun room offers additional, less formal gathering space, and has a 52" TV.

The 50' x 25' heated, saltwater pool has shooting fountains, is surrounded by mature perennial gardens and has a baby pool (pool is open seasonally, mid-May to late-September, depending on weather).

The stable has 5 stalls and a tack room and we can refer you to have feed and hay delivered before you arrive, if you are traveling with horses. Stonecote is surrounded by beautiful, mature trees and perennial gardens, yet is five minutes to downtown, the waterfront, 10 minutes to Churchill Downs, 20 minutes to Valhalla and the PGA tour. We also have an on-site caretaker who lives in a carriage house on the property.

Please note that the rate for the Kentucky Derby is a flat fee of $25,000 from the Monday prior to the Derby to the following Monday. Please send an inquiry if interested in the rental of Stonecote for the week of the Derby.

Please also note that due to city of Louisville policies, we are unable to accommodate events of more than 50 attendees (including overnight guests).

About Amy Eirich

We moved to Louisville from the east coast and love this city for its sophisticated living with a healthy helping of southern hospitality!

Amy Eirich purchased this estate in 2006

Why Amy Eirich chose Cherokee Seneca

We fell in love with Stonecote because it offers the best of everything! It is a rare find: a 5-acre equestrian estate in the heart of Louisville! The setting is absolutely beautiful at Stonecote (built c1920) and is a private, country-like retreat. The 50 x 25 ft heated pool (open seasonally - mid-May to mid-September) with shooting fountains is a great place for kids to play and the adults to relax on spring and summer evenings. Stonecote feels like a secluded, private park and is a perfect setting for many different occasions. The historic, hometown feel of Louisville makes it a great place to visit…any time of the year.

What makes this estate unique

Stonecote has great flow for entertaining and a large, chef's kitchen (making it perfect for fundraising and other catered events), and plenty of room to gather, as well as ample areas to 'get away'.

Annual Family Vacation in Louisville, KY

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our time at this beautiful, clean, spacious home full of character and charm. Great location in a safe neighborhood with large park within walking distance. The weather rained off and on but we never felt crowded in the house and when it cleared up we enjoyed volleyball, corn hole and games in the front yard and swimming and water balloons in the backyard. The pool has the best of both side: a nice shallow end that the little kids could play or a deeper end that the older kids and adults enjoyed. Many hours were spent on the front porch rocking chairs visiting and watching the kids play. We biked, hiked and walked on the trails and road through Cherokee park. Owner was very friendly and easy to work with and promptly met us for check in. Manager was also friendly and immediately offered help when we had questions. Was surprised how open and spacious the house was for being built in the 1920's! We had a comfortable stay and appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and linens. We would highly recommend this property.

Perfect Venue for family

  • 5 of 5

Stonecote Estate is a wonderful, perfect venue for family. I planned a retirement party for my husband in Louisville and needed room for our family from 8 states to gather. This house is large and accommodating. It has a huge kitchen and several large areas to congregate. The owner and staff were quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

A perfect place for a large group!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 15 for my bachelor party, and Stonecote was the perfect base for the Bourbon Trail. Amy was there when we arrived, and was nice enough to give us a full tour of the house. She left us with a great welcome basket as well! The common areas are roomy, and the house was very clean. We'll have to come back when it's warmer so that we can use the pool! Thanks so much, Amy!

Beautiful historic home and easy stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a great long weekend in Louisville staying in this beautiful old home with all the room and charm for such a big group. We were set up and taken care of as needed (thanks to Pete, the on-site property caretaker) and took advantage of all the space, incredible kitchen and dining room, grounds and swimming pool. Thanks to our hosts for making the booking, check in and stay so smooth and comfortable.

"Best vacation ever"

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Stonecote was everything we were hoping for. This was a special occasion as we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and my sister's birthday. We had families from Ct, NY, Ia, DC and and Ga. (17 adults and 11 children, ages 15 to 8 months). There was enough space for everyone for eating, sleeping, playing and just being together. One of the children described it as "the best vacation ever". The property manager was most helpful and great to work with. I would definitely recommend Stonecote to anyone wanting a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.
