About Darlene N. Latten

This property has been owned by one family and I am the 3rd generation to own it. My grandfather cleared the land and built it in 1945. He picked each field stone that makes up the beautiful fireplace. This cottage is one of the last original cottages at Kashong Point. It is a quiet and relaxing location. The beach and front porch are the best places to relax with a book and/or a beverage. My caretaker lives a 1/2 mile away so any questions or issues can be dealt with quickly.

Darlene N. Latten purchased this cottage in 1945

Why Darlene N. Latten chose Seneca Lake

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Once you've picked up your groceries in Geneva from Wegman's or Tops there is no reason to leave unless you want to go and visit a winery, brewery or State Park. There is a gas station near by with a small grocery store for missed items.

What makes this cottage unique

Kashong Point has a basketball court, tennis court and playground. The Point has a private road which loops around and is a great place to walk, run or bike on. As you can tell by the pictures the land is very level and there are only a few steps to get in and out of the cottage. There are 30+ pieces of property that make up Kashong Point. Kashong Creek borders one side of the Point and is a great place to hike to 3 picturesque waterfalls.

Great Cottage and Beautiful Surroundings!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our stay at this lovely cottage! The accommodations were rustic and charming and yet had all the modern conveniences including WIFI. The porch and location right on the lake were very relaxing - waking up to the sight and sound of the water was very peaceful and beautiful. The surrounding area had breath taking scenery. I had heard of the Finger Lakes region, but this was my first visit and my expectations were surpassed when it came to the beauty of the lake and the surrounding countryside. We will definitely visit again. Thanks again for a lovely stay!!!

Best,

Martha A.

Hidden Gem!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this place justice. It's by many wineries and breweries. We liked staying at the lake and relaxing. A very quiet and peaceful vacation. Great restaurants in Geneva. The owner left a book with suggested places to visit.

Girl's Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time here -- it was a good location for driving up and down the lakes visiting the wineries. The beds were all very comfortable. There were 3 of us, so we each had our own sleeping area which was nice. The family room area was large enough for all of us to spread out and never feel crowded. We built a fire out by the lake at night and toasted marshmallows. We ate at Beef and Brew and Port Café and would highly recommend both. Great place!

Perfect lakeside cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was great for a quiet fall vacation. We visited Corning Glass Museum and Rockwell Museum twice--liked them that much. We went to Willard Memorial Chapel in Auburn, Watkins Glen State Park, Seneca Lake State Park, Amish farm off Route 14, Mennonite grocery store near Auburn, and almost every winery on Seneca Lake. There is plenty to do in this area and many restaurants in Geneva and Watkins Glen. Ports Café is a favorite, but you do need a reservation. American Legion on Route 14 in Geneva has a great menu Friday nights including a fish fry. Would definitely go back to this cottage. Darlene is a wonderful host and provided many little extras. Thank you for a nice vacation.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is so darling right on the lake.

We were 4 adults (two married couples) and we all stayed downstairs and were super comfortable and happy.

We made breakfast every morning in the little kitchen and drank our coffee overlooking the lake.

The cabin was warm and cozy and quiet.

A perfect stay overall.
