Guestbook comments from the owner

Had three couples from Alabama and Georgia meet together at the cabin to celebrate birthdays and babies!! We usually go camping, but with three new babies, this cabin was ideal! What a perfect weekend, relaxing and reconnecting with dear friends here in this beautiful, cozy cabin!! Thank you so much for sharing your place with us. We absolutely loved our Stay! We hope we can come back again someday!

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

There was some pretty important information left out of the listing that negatively impacted our trip. Even though the cabin itself was beautiful, I have to give it a low rating for that reason. The cabin is over an extremely steep driveway, most of us had to park at the top & walk back & forth. This was a big deal since we had both an elderly person & a small child. Absolutely no phone service on any of our phones. No working house phone. I grew up in the Appalachian mountains & I'm not a wimp when it comes to being in the mountains but this was not reasonable & should have been disclosed in the listing. Very limited view because the cabin sets on a cliff & all you see is the top of trees. There was no useable yard,. There were some smaller problems like bathroom doors & windows that didn't lock but our main issue was the location.

Owner's Response: Sorry this renter was not completely happy with the location. The location is great in my opinion because it’s just 15 to 20 minutes from Pigeon Forge and just 10 minutes from a back entrance to the park, hiking, tubing, horseback riding, antique shops, fishing and much more! The cabin is situated on 5 acres, is very private, and is at 1800 feet with beautiful views! (All of this, including a map of the location is included in our listing). The driveway is only moderately steep (which is very typical in the mountains-first time I’ve had this complaint in 10 years) and is less than 75 feet long. Perhaps a hotel in town would have been a better choice for this family, but if you are looking for a private location where you can enjoy the mountains but be in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg in just a few minutes, this is the place for you! By the way, we require a 30 day notice to cancel reservations. Concerning the view, the photos in our listing should speak for themselves!

Wonderful time!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin.

Clean, spacious, well-stocked, peaceful and very private. Not to mention a great deck

(and cool fire-pit for some smores).

On the way up to the cabin, we got lucky and actually saw a mama bear crossing the

road with two cubs!

Let me tell you, my husband and I lived in Alaska for 4 years (during a military tour)

and I can tell you that running into bears (with cubs) is NOT a common occurrence.

An adult-bear rummaging for scraps is one thing. But a mama bear with cubs is a

whole other story. Trust me. So this definitely adds to the great memories.

And throughout the week, we would walk our dogs every morning and we ran into

wild turkeys on more than one occasion.

The road up to the cabin provides just the right combination of 'scenery'. Without putting

you through the overly-steep climbs or the scary side-winding roads.

You are not too far from town, yet far enough to get away from all the "touristy-noise".

And the area of Wears Valley is just beautiful.

We've been lucky enough to stay in quite a few cabins over the years (throughout

the Country) and overall, I would recommend this cabin with no hesitations. If you

want to get away in a nice cabin and enjoy some peace and quiet, then look no further.

We want to thank the Wright's (Tim and Elaine, the property owners) for a great stay.

And we look forward to visiting again next year. =)

Best Regards,

Dr. Becky M.

There

  • 5 of 5

There was to many tree very close to the house. A good wind storm could knock them on the house. Plus the view was hidden from the deck.

Owner's Response: Thanks for leaving five stars! We have had the trees that were blocking our beautiful view removed just this week and the view is now beautiful again!

Location

Car: necessary

This beautiful mountain home is situated in the mountains surrounding scenic Wears Valley between Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Townsend. It is far enough away from the 'touristy' areas for those who want to avoid them, but close enough to be convenient for those who love the tourist attractions this area is famous for! It is a great area for hiking, rafting, and tubing and is just a few miles from a back entrance to the Smokey Mountains National Park. Situated on 5 mountainous acres, you will have no nearby neighbors and will be able to experience true privacy.
