This beautiful mountain home is located in a secluded 5 acre mountainous lot in 'The Homestead' in Scenic Wears Valley, Tn. It features 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths and sleeps up to 10. The cabin is located just minutes from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Townsend if you are looking for the wonderful tourist attractions this area offers, but is tucked away in the mountains of Wears Valley for those who want to 'get away and relax'. If your looking for outdoor adventures, The Homestead is full of hiking trails and is just minutes away from tubing, white water rafting, horseback riding, zip-lining, golfing, biking, fishing etc and a 'secret' back entrance into the Smokey Mountain National Park. Our family has enjoyed this get away and we want you and your family to also.
Had three couples from Alabama and Georgia meet together at the cabin to celebrate birthdays and babies!! We usually go camping, but with three new babies, this cabin was ideal! What a perfect weekend, relaxing and reconnecting with dear friends here in this beautiful, cozy cabin!! Thank you so much for sharing your place with us. We absolutely loved our Stay! We hope we can come back again someday!
We stayed in the cabin for a week. There were seven of us and this cabin easily gave us each our own privacy. The back deck is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the chirping of the critters and listen to the natural sounds. We could even hear water in the distance. It was very relaxing. The last morning we were there I decided to go sit down on the ground, by the fire pit and enjoy the peacefulness one last time. All of a sudden a young black bear walked up the mountain and by the fire pit. It was incredible. I ran inside to get the rest of the family to see it and we watched it wander on up the mountain through the woods. We loved this cabin and hope to get to enjoy it again. It's a drive to pigeon forge and Gatlinburg but that is exactly what we wanted because those two places seem to stay very busy.
I'm a bit late typing my review, but it wasn't because of a lack of things to say. First off, the owner went above and beyond working with us even at a personal phone call and texting level. Blown away! Also, owners were very flexible with a late departure at no extra charge. We rented and it was a win/win for us all. They had a cancellation and the cabin we had previously rented wasn't ready. Cabin was amazing and we had no issues in the least. Very secluded and quiet. Kids hung hammocks on the porch and enjoyed the hot tub. Just a wonderful weekend and a beautiful home. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 4 kids.
A beautifully decorated cabin. The porch swing was my favorite spot. It was clean and comfortable. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my mom who struggles walking. The upstairs bedrooms were nice and the bathrooms were sufficient. I wouldn't stay here again with the size group we had because the cots through out the house were camper cots and adults don't really fit on them and the pull out couch wasn't very comfortable. However, I would stay here with 8 people because the beds were nice and comfortable. The cabin and location were amazing and beautiful. The rocking chairs on the deck are falling apart so we used our lawn chairs to sit out there. The grill is brand new and the kitchen is well stocked. The cost was so affordable and I always got quick replies with questions.
Our vacation was very peaceful and relaxing for family time. We loved it be secluded. Our family enjoyed the cabin.
We were very pleased with our stay at this cabin. Beautiful home! House was very clean and stocked with all kitchen utensils. We enjoyed the hot tub almost every night. We were a little concerned when we first got there and noticed no working grill but the owners had a new one delivered the next day. The drive up and the driveway to the house is a little scary at first but you get used to it. The views are worth it! Already miss sitting on the front porch swing. We would recommend this cabin to anyone. Thank you for making our vacation relaxing and enjoyable.
This cabin seemed great from the photos and other reviews, but unfortunately, there were so many issues with the house itself -- mainly pertaining to cleanliness and maintenance -- that our stay was pretty uncomfortable. I brought these issues (in a kind, constructive way) to the owners' attention both via the VRBO messaging system AND her personal email, and I NO response whatsoever (though I even waited a few weeks before posting this review).
When we first arrived, we found that the living room rug was absolutely covered in dog hair. With three small children, there was no way we could let them crawl around and play on that rug! Fortunately, there was a vacuum, so we were able to remedy that, for the most part. In fact, the place hardly seemed to have been cleaned at all -- there were a few french fries on the floor of the dining room and socks under on of the beds. Another issue that met us upon our arrival was the fact that the light bulbs in the kitchen pendant lights didn't work. We couldn't find any extra bulbs, so we had to shift some around. As the weekend went on, we encountered many more issues, which I'll list here:
-- There were mouse droppings everywhere, from the floor to the bed sheets, to the silverware drawer (and we even noticed some on the mattress, after we had stripped the bed!). We did hear some skittering sounds in the walls and above our heads as well, so we are thinking there may be a problem with mice.
--There was dog poop on the deck
-- There were some pest problems (ants, a roach, and even a scorpion)
-- Several of the chairs were broken and unusable, some windows wouldn't shut all the way
-- The gas grill wasn't working properly and wouldn't heat above 180 or so
-- The lighting in the family room was very weak (one lamp for the whole room!) so we mostly hung out in the kitchen at night
-- Many of the drawers and cabinets around the house were full of junk, some of which could be considered dangerous for little hands
-- The downstairs closet was full of random, disorganized objects, pillows, and trash bags full of linens, but since there were no instructions or notes, we weren't sure whether these were clean and available for our use or dirty
-- The towel rack in the upstairs bedroom fell completely off the wall when we tried to hang a towel on it
-- One of the showers leaked through the floor and into the kitchen
-- The tub in the upstairs bathroom doesn't plug properly which makes it difficult to give baths
This beautiful mountain home is situated in the mountains surrounding scenic Wears Valley between Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Townsend. It is far enough away from the 'touristy' areas for those who want to avoid them, but close enough to be convenient for those who love the tourist attractions this area is famous for! It is a great area for hiking, rafting, and tubing and is just a few miles from a back entrance to the Smokey Mountains National Park. Situated on 5 mountainous acres, you will have no nearby neighbors and will be able to experience true privacy.
