Wonderful Home in Lovely Community

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house (it is actually a house divided into two rental spaces) as a place to plant ourselves while dropping our son off at college. It is conveniently located right off of a turnpike (I-90) that leads directly to and from the airport, downtown and other helpful locations. Driving to most of these places took 20 minutes or less. Access to the house was through the front door (surrounded by a delightful wrap-around porch and beautiful landscaping), and most of the living space is on the second floor. The two bedrooms (with an optional 3rd sleeping area), living room, dining area and kitchen were well-appointed, clean and very comfortable. All of the conveniences (washer/dryer, utensils, etc.) are included. The kitchen looks newly renovated, and although we did not cook meals during our stay (too many good restaurants!!), there is ample room and amenities to do so. The home was light and airy, and I looked forward to coming "home" to it each day.

The hosts/homeowners are lovely people and very helpful and accommodating. They were there to meet us in person, show us the home (and how to operate things), and they contacted us throughout the week to see if we needed anything. There is a Starbucks, Whole Foods, dry cleaner, drug store, restaurants and everything you could possibly need within walking distance or a very short drive. Newton Center, Chestnut Hill Shops, and boutiques and restaurants all along Washington Avenue were great. We rented a car and were able to park it in the driveway (major benefit), but there is also a bus stop right around the corner and a nearby train station. Downtown Boston is very easy to get to from this house.

Regarding Newton -- It is a lovely community, and we felt very safe in walking around the neighborhood and going to bed at night. Prospective renters might be interested to know that there is a fair amount of traffic noise on that corner (mostly on weekday mornings because of the highway access), but we had fans going and did not hear the noise in the house. Incidentally, the homeowners have provided plenty of fans and air conditioner units to make the temperature in the house extremely comfortable.

This was one of the best VRBO experiences we have ever had. We plan to stay at this home (whenever it is available) every time we visit Boston. I highly recommend this house if you are visiting Boston or the Boston area in ANY capacity. WONDERFUL, COMFORTABLE HOME!

This house was Fantastic for our family. I grew up in a similar house in Newton and it was very nostalgic. It has a very old school, warm feel. I would recommend this property and will stay here again when I visit.

everybody was happy

  • 5 of 5

4 of us relatives joined together to attend a wedding in Boston. We had a fantastic visit that was utterly enhanced by the house. We especially loved the kitchen where we spent long mornings visiting over coffee and breakfast. The house had everything we needed, was very clean, and was comfortable in the hot weather. The first time I went out, I became lost driving in the area and our host, Susan went far beyond the call of duty by coming out in her car to find me! Nice house and nice people. You would not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Rose Michelle---thank you for your kind words and so glad that you and your relatives were able to spend quality time while in our house. You had great, albeit warm weather, but typical for New England in the summer. Glad you got home safe and sound.

Book this stay!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The description of this home vastly understates how wonderful it is. My entire family stayed here for 10 days in July. The weather ranged from 57 to 96. We were completely comfortable at all temperatures, as the home has wonderful air movement. Additionally, the owners have thought of every detail imaginable. The kitchen is so nice, with an excellent range (my kids are serious chefs!). The location could not be better. The area has cute little restaurants and coffee shops, and downtown Boston is 10 minutes away. So, whether you are the type to "be on the run" or "sit and smell the flowers", this is the place to do it!

Clean and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for five nights while we toured the Boston area. The mostly second-level unit accommodated our family of five quite nicely. We parents took advantage of the "quiet" room on the first level while the kids watched TV upstairs. The full and queen beds along with the two futons made sleeping arrangements comfortable.

The close proximity of the express bus stop helped greatly; though getting a CharlieCard/Bus Pass wasn't the easiest task. Like others, we found that Google Maps did not locate the property correctly. Once we got around this, though, using Google to guide us, using Boston's public transportation was a breeze.

One of our kids has food allergies, and by chance, we found a nut and dairy-free bakery nearby. What a bonus for our vacation.

This house and the provided amenities helped make our vacation a winner.

Comfortable accommodations with a cozy home like feel

  • 5 of 5

The place is just like in the pictures. Very comfortable accommodations for our group of 6. The keyless entry was great. The notes and instructions around the house were very helpful.

Susan was very accommodating of our late arrival, and followed up with me the next morning that we had found everything to be ok. Returned the security deposit promptly the day after we checked out.

The only challenge is that it was slightly confusing to find the house because Google maps kept saying the address was the District Court for some reason. The one way streets around there meant having to take quite a few left turns to get there, but its super easy to get back on the highway. Nice to have a parking spot, but can be a little bit of a squeeze if all three spots are taken, which thankfully was not the case for us.

The express bus is convenient and fast getting in to Boston. Unfortunately we found out that the MBTA daily pass doesn't work on the express buses even though the guy at the info desk at the South transit center said it would. Just unlucky that we got someone who didn't quite know.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I wish I could fix Google to be more accurate with our property location, but not sure I can. I will make sure I write directions in the mobile hospitality APP for travelers. Also thank you for leaving the apt so clean.
