Enjoy gorgeous views of Lake Tenkiller from this cozy one-room cabin perched on top of Pettit Mountain in NE Oklahoma. Recently renovated, this 600 sq. ft. cabin offers everything you’ll need for a relaxing get-away. There is a log-queen bed, full bath, a comfy sofa in front of a rock fireplace with a woodstove insert, and a 37 inch flat-screen TV with DVD/blue-ray player and Dish satellite. The kitchenette has a small stove/oven, granite counter tops, fridge, and microwave. The dining table sits by the large picture window overlooking the lake and forest. The covered back porch has cedar-log rocking chairs and you can feel the breezes coming off of the lake. All bedding and linens are provided. The “Little Cabin” is really designed only for 2 people. A small child might be OK on the sofa or air mattress, but at this point, we don’t know how much water the septic system can hold. We still have landscaping to finish up, but the surrounding scenery more than makes up for it.
Boat parking available.
Only minutes to the Pettit Bay Campground and Marina.
We have a larger cabin next door that has even more spectacular views of the lake and hills. “The Big Cabin” has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6. Our goal for both cabins is to provide a comfortable, cozy place where our guests feel at home and have a chance to get away from it all without spending a fortune.
There seems to be a glitch in the homeaway/vrbo notification system so we are not getting all reservation requests when they are booked. We do get Inquiries via text so maybe do an Inquiry first and then go ahead and book. If you don't hear from us in a few hours then call because we probably didn't see the request. Other owners are having the same trouble. Also, consider the insurance to cover last minute cancellations.
We live outside of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Patrick is a retired police officer and Tisa works for Cherokee Nation.
Patrick & Tisa Newton purchased this cabin in 2010
We purchased the property from a friend but it needed a lot of work. We contemplated tearing it down. The view of the lake was blocked by trees from the property next door, so when it came up for sale, we ended up buying it in order to open up the view. Before we knew it, we were renovating both properties as vacation rentals.
The views from the cabin are incredible. In the Fall, the hills are covered in vibrant colors. It is so peaceful and relaxing.
My wife and I stayed at Pat and Tisa's cozy cabin over 4th of July 2013. It sure was a great place to get away for the weekend. Summers in Oklahoma are hot and humid, but our cabin stayed nice and cool through out the day. The view from the back porch that over looked the lake was hard to beat. The cabin had everything we needed for a wonderful get away. We plan on returning the next chance we can get, especially at the very reasonable price they have their cabins!
My wife and I recently had an extra day off so we booked the small cabin and stayed the weekend. The cabin was far more accommodating than most upscale hotels I have stayed at and the decor was perfect. The view was amazing especially with the foggy days that we had. It was cold and rainy the entire time we were there and the cabin was the perfect place to be all cozy and comfortable. Everything was great, even the linens were perfect. We will be planning another trip here again when the weather is a bit nicer so we can do some exploring because the area is beautiful.
Great view, awesome covered deck and everything you need for a relaxing weekend.
Everything was perfect. if I had to pick something to improve, I would love a bigger bed, but I'm 6'3.
We will definitely come back!!!
From arrival to departure, my experience was top notch. With the great fire pit outside, I could have the joy of camping out with the luxury of going back inside to a warm comfy bed and other great amenities. Having a kitchen saved money and time by not eating out. Close to national park for hiking and swimming, and close to town if you want to visit.
Had a great time and look forward to visiting again
The little cabin is delightful, the back porch was exceptional.
The Tahlequah area offers many wonderful attractions. Home of the Cherokee Nation, there are numerous cultural activities as well as a new casino. Lake Tenkiller is a quiet, beautiful lake nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks.
