About Eleanor

We built this secluded cabin to enjoy the fresh mountain air and breathtaking beauty of western North Carolina. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of more harried city environs provides an important life affirming respite for us. We hope you enjoy Spillcorn Falls as much as we do!

Eleanor purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Eleanor chose Marshall

Growing up in Eastern Tennessee means you are never far from the mountains. I had this property for over a decade before I finally took the step to build the cabin. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable spot to be nestled to enjoy the surroundings.

What makes this cabin unique

The front porch is our favorite place to hang out. A quiet nap on the daybed after a day of hiking or gathering for a drink before dinner, everyone gravitates there. No wonder-the magic sound of the falls makes you feel you are right in the middle of nature. And you are!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This is our favorite getaway that we have ever been to! The house is incredibly clean, cozy, and inviting. The rushing river outside is the perfect medicine for complete rejuvenation and replenishment. Eleanor is absolutely wonderful to work with, and we feel so loved each time that we stay here. We can't say enough positive things about this sacred retreat space, and we can't wait to return as soon as possible!

We loved Spillcorn Falls

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Spillcorn Falls for 4 days at the end of March. Overall the cabin was great. It is very tastefully designed and decorated and everything we needed for our trip was provided. Keep in mind that the cabin is at 3000 feet and the roads are a little sketchy for flatlanders. The bridge over the creek to the driveway is scary the first time you cross it. You have to swing very wide and be at just the right angle to go across. Out of the 110 acres ,109 are straight up the side of the mountain and very steep. The is an old switchback style trail that leads you up the mountain for a beautiful yet exhausting scenic walk. The daybed on the porch made for some very comfortable afternoon winter naps. Overall it was a great place to stay and if I can get over my fear of icy mountain roads I would love to visit again.

Owner's Response: The roads are very winding but it is worth it once you are settled in at the cabin, right? We thank you for visiting. Hope you can come in summer or fall when roads are not icy.!

Beautiful Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved staying here over the Thanksgiving holiday! The property is peaceful and expansive. The trout stream and falls gave our 6-year-old plenty of places to explore, and the home itself was lovely and well-appointed. We also enjoyed hiking some of the Appalachian Trail and Horseback riding while we were visiting. The owners were responsive during the booking process and the caretaker checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay - how nice! We will certainly return!

Peace and Quiet!

  • 5 of 5

Our 2nd year spending time here. Very relaxing with the sounds of the stream rushing over the rocks, making a fire by the stream and roasting marshmallows. Raymond and Linda are fantastic caretakers of the property and made us feel very much at home..... again. Loved hiking in the area and watching the leaves on the trees change colors over our 13 day visit.

We look forward to another visit or 2 next year(God willing) and hope to have some of our children and grandchildren visit and experience the peace and tranquility of Spillcorn.
