About Bill Leahy

We spent some of the most wonderful times of our lives renting houses on the Cape and Islands. Our children ,now 20 (the little guy holding my hand in the picture) and 17, still cherish those summer memories and look forward to making new ones in a place of our own.

A couple of years ago we decided the time was right to find that place. This home was perfect for us and we have put a lot of ourselves into it.

Bill Leahy purchased this house in 2013

Why Bill Leahy chose Chatham

Chatham is the quintessential New England seaside community. The beauty of the town and environment are unparalleled. Our home provides easy access to beaches, fishing, kayaking, biking, Cape Cod league baseball games and all that the community of Chatham has to offer. Check out our other property at Ridgevale beach (Rental 1013483vb)

What makes this house unique

We have rented a lot of homes in the past and we have made an effort to make our home a place that we would have been excited to visit. The house is filled with natural light making it bright and cheery. The open floor plan with cathedral ceiling makes for an inviting central gathering area while the bedroom layout affords privacy.

We love to cook, so the kitchen is well appointed for guests who wish to prepare their own meals.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

Perfect house for our group of 6 adults. We loved the 2 master suites arrangement and the room with a queen was small but very nice feeling. We loved all the windows, opened them up and enjoyed the cool Cape Cod air. The light and open feeling in the living space was wonderful. The couch was so comfy and huge and had a lot of space for us to congregate. The beds were comfortable (except I did have complaints about the one twin room with a plastic covering on the mattress. ) I understand though the need if there are kids! The kitchen was stocked adequately, we cooked a couple breakfasts and we used some beach chairs in the basement which came in handy. Over all a Super experience especially if you value 3 Bathrooms! At a reasonable price. The only drawback is the location on a main street and it was a little tricky making a left turn as well as some road noise. We felt it was worth even considering this.

Lovely property, well equipped, perfect for family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Elbow Inn - property was exactly as it appeared in the photos and as described in previous reviews. We were a group of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids (10 and 12) - from the UK and the property was perfect for a relaxing stay on the Cape. Compared to some properties we looked at Elbow Inn had been recently renovated and was well decorated. Having beach chairs and buckets and spades was a bonus and the kitchen was well equipped. We used the outdoor grill a lot and enjoyed chilling out on the deck. Lots of things to do in the area - 5 minutes drive to the store and main street, stunning beaches to visit and lovely walks. We particularly enjoyed a day trip to Nantucket where we did a guided bike tour (Jason at Nantucket Bike Tours - highly recommended), we rented bikes in South Dennis and rode the trail (twice!), ate great food sat outside at the Chatham Inn, walked the beaches (Chatham and Nauset), swam in the ponds (the BEST swimming - Schoolhouse Pond is close by) and went para-sailing (expensive, but a real thrill!).

So plenty to do, but also a great place to kick back and relax. The property does front onto the main road, but it is set back, so you will notice a little traffic noise when outside, but otherwise a great property and a good location on the Cape for activities and visiting different places. We will be back!

We had a great stay at Bill's vacation home in Chatham. It was a a lovely house with a fantastic outside shower - and Bill himself could not have been more helpful or more personable to deal with. We had a toddler with us and Bill provided a Pack n Play (brand new!) and we were all very comfortable. I would strongly recommend Bill and his place.

Great location and for multi generations/families/couples

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time! The house was in a great location with lovely decor. About a 1 mile from Hardings and Ridgevale Beaches. We appreciated the small details like the nightlights, coolers and chairs, and fully equipped kitchen. Plenty of parking and turn around space. The outside shower is beautiful - my kids will have a hard time showering indoors. The house was perfect for multi generations; my husband and young kids vacationed with my parents. The layout of the two suites is unique, one is completely separate from the main house, only access is from outside. BIll, the owner is responsible and wants to do the best for his guests. Lots of great tips about the area. Close to the Cape Rail Trail. I was on there everyday and would not have walked up the path if he hadn't pointed it out. Great place to spend our family vacation!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Multi-generational family vacation In July. 4 kids age 7-13, my wife and I, and my parents. The house was great and we had an outstanding time. Home was well appointed, central and well located. Comfortable for all 8. In-law was perfect for grandparents. We were all very comfortable. The kids had a blast playing hide & seek and spotting caterpillars and bunnies in the garden. Outdoor shower was great after beach days. Minutes from ridgevale and hardings beach, downtown. We cooked every day and found the kitchen well stocked for pancakes waffles and dinner needs. Only issue was grilling- nice webber grill but was not cleaned, very greasy with bugs crawling out. Grill notwithstanding, overall great experience. Owner Bill was extremely responsive and wanting to make sure good time was had by all. Bill spent 20 minutes with me giving insider tips on chatham and family & kid friendly activities. All the tips - from restaurants to excursions to locations- were spot on. Bill's suggestion of Monomy wildlife refuge was not on the mainstream radar and was a highlight of the trip. Kiddos digging for clams and crabs under pristine blue sky, cape cod sea grass and sunset at low tide. Family vacay perfection. Excellent trip for entire group ages 7-72. Would do it again and stay at Bill's place.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We really enjoy helping guests discover the best that Chatham has to offer. I am sorry that the grill was'nt up to our standards for your visit. I completely took the grill apart and detailed it prior to the season but it gets alot of heavy usage during the season we rely on guests to help us keep up with it a bit. I assume previous guests forgot to burn off the residue after their usage. I will certainly attend to insuring that we pay extra attention to keeping on top of this in the future. We look forward to hosting you again. Warmest Regards, Bill

Lovely Stay - Fun Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We shared Bill's lovely home with our daughter, her husband and their two children and all of us just had the most perfect time. This rental is top-notch - nicely decorated, great deck with comfy seating and the kitchen had everything you need for cooking at home. Bill was excellent to work with and always available if we needed anything. You can't go wrong with a vacation to Cape Cod and I strongly recommend this property for your stay!

Owner's Response: Carolee, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our home with us. I am glad you enjoyed it as much as we do. As a cooking enthusiast, I try to keep the kitchen supplied with all the gear an aspiring Iron Chef would need for cooking up some Cape Cod deliciousness. We hope you come visit us again!
