Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
We are a French - Canadian couple who met and fell in love in Burgundy. I am from Victoria, BC, Canada and came to Beaune on a Rotary exchange when I was 18. During that year I met and fell madly in love with Franck, a native Burgundian from the village of Villers-la-Faye where La Maison de la Vieille Vigne is located. That was 18 years ago and now we have three lovely Franco-Canadian daughters, four vacation rentals in and around Beaune, and a very trans-atlantic lifestyle! Our rentals and free activity-planning service allow you to live in Burgundy like a local. We love helping our guests discover authentic France. I wrote a bestselling memoir entitled 'My Grape Escape' about how we purchased and renovated our first vacation rental in Burgundy.

Why Owner chose Villers-la-Faye
We had our eye on this cottage for several years, thinking it would make the perfect vacation rental in Burgundy. Not only was it an ancient restored winemaker's cottage, but it was tucked away in a little lane in the oldest part of the village, yet just steps from endless walks through the local vineyards. Franck finally managed to negotiate a private purchase through his 'village' connections and in 2005 we completely renovated the cottage, then furnished it with a brand new kitchen, a divinely comfortable queen-sized bed and double pull-out sofa bed, and some lovely antiques. La Maison de la Vieille Vigne has been 'home' in Burgundy for many thrilled guests, from Australian newlyweds on their honeymoon to a Canadian poet taking a three month writing retreat. We have many repeat guests that come back year after year!
What makes this Cottage unique
Villers-la-Faye, where the cottage is located and where Franck is from, is off the tourist track yet only 7 minutes from Beaune. Some of the world's most prestigious winemaking villages - Pommard, Meursault, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Vosne-Romanee to name just a few are literally on your doorstep. In Villers-la-Faye real French people live, work, and make wine (there are several winemakers in the village, just steps from the cottage). La Maison de la Vieille Vigne has everything you need to sit back, relax and experience what authentic life in France is all about, from one week to several months. We provide you with local information and insider insights you couldn't find anywhere else to help you make the most of your Burgundian escape.

A beautiful cottage in a quiet spot
We had a fantastic stay at this cottage. A lot of care and attention has gone into making it a lovely holiday home. The kitchen is well equipped and the washer and dryer came in very handy. The village itself is very quiet. I don’t think I saw another person during our stay! That does mean going further afield for supplies, but that wasn’t an issue for us. Highly recommended.
Wonderful Beaune Experiance
Our time here was perfect! The owners are very thorough with details and kind. The cottage was very clean with everything you need for a great home base. Only unfortunate thing was the bakery in the corner was closed so no fresh bread unless you traveled a bit to get it. I highly recommend.
What a perfectly charming cottage!
What a perfectly charming cottage, so well thought out and exquisitely appointed! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Maison de la Vieille Vigne. A lovely quiet retreat in a quaint little village, from the comfy fireplace living room and full kitchen to the spacious luxurious bedroom with french doors to the patio, and large bathroom with a washing machine and dryer. It is a perfect location to tour the Burgundy area!
Absolutely charming, well situated, & immaculate
Really charming and romantic cottage. Well appointed kitchen, spacious bedroom, excellent ensuite bath, and laundry too! Easy access to Beaune, gorgeous cycling through countrified vineyards, and Chagny's canal. A quintenessal French experience, with a stress-fee functionality for North American travellers wishing a memorable experience.
Great place to stay!!
Everything is as promised. There is even a baguette machine in the middle of the small town.
A perfect location for touring the Cote d'Or
We loved Franck amd Laura's lovely cottage! The village is quaint and quiet, with easy access to Beaune and Nuits Ste Georges. We usually started our day with a walk. We toured the "Route des Grands Crus" and a couple of markets recommend in Laura and Franck's book. Although there were numerous restaurants we preferred to eat at the cottage as the kitchen was well stocked. We didn't get to see everything so I think we need to book another stay!
