Beautiful home with an amazing view .

  • 5 of 5

Hook Wine and Sinker exceeded our expectations. Beautifully decorated and very clean. The location could not have been more perfect for us and the view of the intracoastal waterway from the back porch was beautiful. Even though we were right above the gift shop / wine and beer shop we felt like we were in our own private haven with the convenience of anything we needed within walking distance. The Historic town of Swansboro was very quaint and everyone was very friendly. We really enjoyed the shops and the nearby dining was excellent! Swansboro Food and Beverage company had the best Sea Scallops, and the sandwiches at Church Street Irish Pub were amazing! Fruit Fritters at Yanna's are a must for anyone visiting the area! Everything was just wonderful. We came to the area to fish at Bogue Inlet Pier and absolutely fell in love with downtown Swansboro and Hook Wine and Sinker. Thanks so much for a peaceful, relaxing, memorable vacation !

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely apartment! Roomy, clean, comfortable .. just as pictured in the photos. Jack and Debbie were super landlords who actually invited us to their 4th of July party at their business on the 2nd floor; Bake, Bottle and Brew. The ultimate in southern hospitality. Swansboro is a great little town that is a central location taking day trips. We would definitely stay at Hook, Wine & Sinker again!

Perfect family summer vacation in a charming, small town on the Intracoastal!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and two daughters (8 & 5) spent a week at Hook Wine & Sinker for our summer vacation. This home exceeded our expectations; it was a real treat from the moment we walked in the door. The flow and layout of the home work so well, the decor and lighting are tasteful, and there is more storage than we could use. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked, including wine and coffee to get us started. The living room is cozy and stocked with dvds and games. The bedrooms are comfortable and the Jack and Jill bathroom with a jacuzzi and standup shower are nice additions.

The best part is the sunroom and deck overlooking the Intracoastal. We loved the nature and people watching. The sunrises were beautiful and thunderstorms were exciting. During the week we regularly saw porpoise and even an alligator that hung around one morning. The scene at Bake Bottle & Brew below and Town Dock bar is more lively on the weekend. It was great to enjoy live music at Bake Bottle & Brew from our porch Saturday evening. And the Sunday night live music at Town Square across the street was great community atmosphere.

We hardly drove except to go to the grocery store or seafood/farmers markets. We walked to restaurants most days and loved shopping and wandering along Front St. The kids loved the nearby candy and ice cream shops.

We were able to dock our boat there for the week, which made jumping on and off the boat for beach excursions convenient. Fueling up and grabbing ice at Dudley's Marina was also easy. Getting the boat in the water on Saturday afternoon took a while beacause it was such a busy time on the roads with Saturday check-in/out and Cedar Point ramp parking lot was full. We had to put in at the Emerald Isle ramp and the wind was blowing, which was a little challenging. We're grateful Debbie & Jack let us take out and store the boat at their home Fri-Sat to avoid the Saturday boat traffic.

Parking was limited on the weekend, but we always found a spot at Town Hall, just a few blocks away. And we parked temporarily right next to the home and used the elevator for move-in/out if spaces weren't free.

Debbie & Jack are great hosts. Always available and responsive, but never obtrusive. Their shop is well run and convenient when we needed last minute wine, beer, coffee or ice cream. It is obvious they love this home and Town.

We are sad to end this special vacation, but look forward to a chance to return!

3 generations making memories

  • 5 of 5

I spent many summers with my grandparents in the small town of Swansboro. Over the years the main roads have grown and the population is much larger. I wanted my nephew and his family to experience a taste of Swansboro and it's people. I thank Deb and Jack for allowing this to be achieved. Hook, Wine and Sinker is a beautiful apartment overlooking the White Oak River and the inner coastal waterway. The location could not be better. Many restaurants and shops are within a short walk. A quick trip downstairs to Deb and Jack's shop and we could get ice cream for the kids and select a great wine or brew for evenings on our beautiful deck. Again thanks Deb and Jack for maintaining such a beautiful property...perfect for making memories.

Located in Historic Downtown Swansboro, this area has all you need to enjoy your vacation. Whether it is the charm and history of this old fishing town, the variety of shops to browse and find that perfect gift, or dining in the area restaurants, all you need is just steps away. And you certainly can't beat the southern hospitality in this Friendly City by the Sea. There are kayak and bicycle rentals within walking distance. Hook, Line & Sinker includes a dock, boat slip and use of the private island located just a short boat ride away. If you don't have a boat, we will be happy to shuttle you to the island. The beautiful beaches of the Crystal Coast on Emerald Isle are just a 10 minute drive. If you enjoy something a bit quieter, Hammocks Beach State Park is a 5 minute car ride. Once there you can enjoy the 15 minute ferry ride to the undisturbed beaches of Bear Island. Make sure you keep your eyes open for dolphins who like to dance through the waters of the Intercoastal Waterway. Bear Island has miles of beaches with incredible shelling opportunities. If you would like to venture further the NC State Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores is about 30 minutes from Swansboro. You can also continue another 15 minutes to Fort Macon and learn some of the history of NC. The charming town of Beaufort, NC is only a 40 minute drive. In this picturesque town you will find shops and restaurants as well as daily boat tours to Shackleford Island where you can see the wild horses. If fishing is what you enjoy there are many options for chartered tours just minutes from Swansboro. Or simply go to Bogue Pier on Emerald Isle which is only 15 minutes away. You can rent equipment right at the pier and enjoy an afternoon of fishing on the ocean from this long pier. From mid-May to mid-September downtown Swansboro has a craft market every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am-2pm. During the summer there are live concerts in the pavilion downtown every Sunday from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Several of the restaurants in town offer entertainment Wednesday-Saturday showcasing local musical talent. So, as you can see there is so much to do in this area and we are confident that our place will have you Hook, Line & Sinker!
