Updated 1970's house, reminiscent of childhood vacations at the beach, provides a comfortable, relaxing home in a quiet south end neighborhood. Easy access makes it just a 2 minute walk to the beach and a hop and skip to view stunning sunsets over the sound. A bird sanctuary is a block away on the south tip of the island. Terns nest there during the summer. It's a great place for children to bike, scoot or skateboard on child friendly streets so between the beach, the sound, and the neighborhood, children can spend lots of time outside. Fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare fresh seafood dishes for a family meal. Open floor plan allows for ease of entertaining.
The 4 bedrooms supply 2 queen and 2 double beds with 2 full baths located between rooms. The sofa in the living room folds out to allow for more sleeping accommodations. Enjoy ocean breezes while rocking in rocking chairs or swinging in the hammock on the front porch, in the mornings with coffee, after a day at the beach with a beer or glass or wine, or star gazing at night. The outdoor shower and the carport is covered in jasmine for delicious smells when it's blooming in June. Parking for up to 6 cars is a plus as parking on the side of the street is not allowed and guests can visit during the day without paying public parking fees. The house provides 2 TV's, wifi, dvd player, and a radio/CD player.
The utility room below supplies a washer and dryer, boogie board, skim board, sand toys and comfortable beach chairs. An outside grill makes it easy to cook while watching the sunset over the sound.
If you want to live a simple life of ease and relaxation on your vacation, this house and location is perfect.
My sister and I inherited this house from our father. We both were born and still live in NC. My sister is a retired mail carrier and I am a Montessori educator. We have 5 extraordinary children between us and she has 3 spectacular grandchildren.
Nancy Hofer purchased this house in 1984
During our childhood our family visited Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach often. We had extended family that lived in Wilmington. Our families would spend days on the beach swimming, surfing, sunning and enjoying picnics of homemade pimento cheese and tomato sandwiches. Our best childhood memories were made on this beach.
My father always dreamed of having a house at Wrightsville. In fact in the 1960's he bought the lot our house is on. By a quirk of fate, we ended up with the house when Dino DeLaurentiis needed to move 2 houses off the lots he was building his house on, when he opened what is now Screen Gems Studio. For the last 30 years we have made cherished memories in this house. We've spent countless hours preparing meals together in the kitchen, playing games on the long dinner table, rocking on the porch with a cup of coffee, a cold beer after a day at the beach, or with a sleepy baby.
This house is comfortable enough to suit all your needs while being simple enough to encourage relaxation.
Thank you for the wonderful renting experience. We enjoyed your beach house and the countless hours we spent on the sand and surf:) Everything was very convenient and the house, well-stocked. We come to Wilmington every year and will make sure to book again with you all.
We was delayed 1 day getting there because of hurricane. We got there and everything was very nice. Rental house nice and good location. Beach was great. Great selection of restaurants in the area. Plenty of shopping in the area. Overall had a great trip! I would recommend this to everyone!
nice property, comfortable, affordable, convenient, a lot of extra's in the kitchen-which was great, clean, safe, lots of parking for family. Would definitely recommend this property.
Enjoyed the food at Poe's tavern, Sweet & Savory, Pilot House on the River walk.
This was our 2nd yr. vacationing at this beach house and we really enjoyed our stay. The house is located in the quiet south end of the beach and is perfect for walking and for children to bike etc., without worrying about traffic. We rented the house for 2 weeks this year. During that time family and friends visited for a few days at a time, but this was easily accommodated by the 4 bedroom/2 bath setup of the house, along with the large outside shower. The kitchen is also well equipped with everything needed to cook a small or large meal. The front porch is nice with several rockers and the steps are not too steep for small children or anyone loading/unloading cars. We also spent time in the area under the house, playing games and letting the little ones ride their bikes. Even with a van, truck and 2 cars parked in the driveway there was adequate space to sit, cookout, play and party.
The laundry/storage area has a variety of good beach chairs and really anything needed for a family to enjoy the beach. The walk to the beach is short and my 3 and 4 yr. old grandchildren made it everyday with few complaints. We also enjoyed crabbing and kayaking in the sound which is again a short walk with no worries of traffic. The owner is easy to contact and is interested in renters input and concerns. Our family plans to continue to make this Wrightsville Beach home our vacation spot.
Nice four bedroom setup with two jack and Jill bathrooms between each pair. Easy walk to the beach at the northern end of Wrightsville Beach. Kite surfers and wind surfers use this part of the beach so plenty of interesting action. Everything in the house is in perfect working condition!
We had a very relaxing time rocking on the front porch, walking on the sand near the bird sanctuary, eating at the large dining table, sleeping in the comfortable beds, and cooking in a well-equipped kitchen! The home was very clean and well-loved. Plenty of storage for luggage and clothes. The peaceful surroundings on a quiet street allowed us to really chill out. We very often took advantage of the very short distance to the beach for lazy walks along the sand. The beds were comfortable, plenty of parking, beach chairs, sand toys, etc. Grill out back or walk down to Oceanic Restaurant for delicious Southern beach fare. The fragrant honeysuckle vine enhanced our porch conversation! We would highly recommend this house for a cozy family gathering!
My family really enjoyed our stay here. The property was very clean and you can tell it is very well cared for both inside and out. The pictures don't do it justice. It was also well stocked with things like small kitchen appliances, spare blankets and games. The beach is just a block away and really easy to get to. Nancy responded quickly to all communications and was very helpful.
The property is in a quiet, residential neighborhood, within walking and biking distance to restaurants, surf shops, stores, ice cream shops, parks, a local museum, and farmers market. A two minute walk to the beach and a hop and skip to the sound for quieter water and beautiful sunsets. The beach location is at the south end of the island where there is a minimum of parking for daily beach visitors so the beach is not crowded. The ocean water is crystal clear 80% of the time and a Caribbean ocean color. Pier, surf and sound fishing are popular. A bird sanctuary is located at the end of the island and protected by fencing and bird watchers.
