Welcome to the Enchanting Encanto Cabin!
The renovated Encanto Cabin is a vintage Jackrabbit Homestead in a spectacular and dazzling desert setting. It is perfect for a romantic weekend or a recuperative and peaceful escape from the clamor of the asphalt jungle. NEW: The cabin now has unlimited internet via Mojave Wifi. You can choose to disconnect, but you don't have to…
Located just 14 miles from the Joshua Tree National Park North Entrance in 29 Palms, this charming homestead cabin is on 5 acres in a magical desert setting. The interior is very comfortable outfitted with mid-century furnishings that accent the original 1950’s architecture without being too precious. We have adorned the walls with some interesting local “found” art treasures that we unearthed from in and around the 29 Palms area.
The cabin is a spacious single room with a designated kitchen area and bath. It features a comfortable Queen Bed, a large sliding door closet, extra blankets and pillows, a new shower stall, a TV enhanced with a satellite dish connection and a DVD player, and a fully equipped kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishware, and utensils.
Outside there is an extra large patio area with a table and chairs and chaise lounges. The cabin is enclosed from the street by an outer gated fence, and there is also an interior fenced area that is perfect for your Canine Companions. Also on this 5-acre parcel is a fire pit for your night time storytelling - stargazing pleasure.
The desert vista will put on quite a show at Golden Hour and about that time you might want to pour a glass of wine and put some shrimp on the small hibachi-like grill. Life at the enchanting Encanto Cabin is soooo good many of our guests extend their stay. We bet you won't want to leave either...
If the cabin is available on the dates that you want, you can go ahead and instantly book it online, even if you are booking with well-behaved pet friends.
We've added Lucy's Trailer to the Encanto Cabin property. This pristine vintage trailer once served as Lucille Ball's dressing room at the RKO Studio in North Hollywood. This trailer sleeps 2 to 4 people. It is super comfortable, with a bathroom and fully equipped kitchenette. The back bedroom has two twin beds; there is a day bed in the middle room area and a large couch in the living room. If you would like to rent this trailer, it is an additional $75 a night. We do not rent the cabin out to separate parties; it is only available to the guests that are staying at the Encanto Cabin. Please let us know if you would like to rent this additional space.

My name is Jeffrey Perry and I am the manager of the Encanto Cabin and the recently renovated Wonderama Ranch (2015). I've always been a big fan of the high desert and have been coming out here since the 70's. I have remodeled many popular vacation cabins – notably the Sapphire Ranch and Cabin 51. In early 2013, I was approached by Dana Desselle, another big fan of the high desert and the owner of DesertLand, to remodel the Encanto Cabin. The old homestead cabin was in sad shape, just a falling down uninhabitable heap really, but the potential of the setting was obvious. The renovation road was winding as remodels tend to be, but we are quite proud of the resulting cabin and everyone who sees it concurs – it is simple and comfortable and the setting is simply stunning.
Jeffrey Perry purchased this cabin in 2013
The owner of DesertLand loves Wonder Valley. This part of the high desert is so pristine and the Encanto Cabin is arguably in the most visually spectacular section of Wonder Valley as it is intimate, up close and personal to the Wonder Valley Mountain range. Sunsets here are unspeakably beautiful.
The quiet hush of the desert. The brilliant sky. An opportunity to unplug and be human.
Excellent ! If you are looking for peace and quietness you have the right adress. It feels like you are alone on Earth. The interior is brand new. You will love it !
My husband and I and our dog just spent a magical christmas at the encanto cabin.
It's not very often that modernist design can combine with a cozy and comfortable feel, but this cabin achieves that. It is both pristine and impeccable.
You are really in the middle of an undisturbed desertscape, although there are a few other houses visible about 1/2 mile away so you don't feel completely isolated.
Also, the large southern exposure picture windows allow for a light-bathed vista--really amazing to wake up to.
All this and heat that works, reliable wifi, functioning satellite tv and an eclectic dvd library, a fully functional kitchen, reliable hot water, etc. We have gotten used to funky but pricey desert lodging with corroded electric contacts and rusted shower stalls passing as "charm"; this was a welcome and huge step up!
Stayed a few days here to work without distractions and it was wonderful. Very quiet, very contemplative. Loved it!
Absolutely wonderful place in Wonder Valley. Very clean and comfortable, Jeffrey made us feel welcome and right at home.
Very convenient for day trips into Joshua Tree National Park. We (and our dog) had a great time exploring the Park and surrounding areas. We found all the old Jackrabbit Homesteads fascinating, from the artfully restored (such as this one) to the places in various states of decay. Neighbors are distant and the fenced/gated yard feels secure and private. The desert vistas are spectacular, day and night. Lucy's Trailer is very cute, would be great for extra guests (if they don't mind twin beds). Huge covered front porch provides shade by late morning.
More stars than we've seen in years. And so quiet!
Recommend bringing plenty of water (it's trucked in/stored in tanks, so bottled is preferable to tap) beverages and food so you can hunker down and relax, listen to the breezes singing through the brush, contemplate distant contrails and dust devils. If you do dine out, Rib Co. in Twentynine Palms has excellent baby backs.
Road to cabin is well maintained, though other roads in the valley require AWD or 4WD.
Thanks for providing such a peaceful oasis! Will recommend to friends and family.

For those who wish to enjoy the serenity of the desert then this charming cabin is for you. Mountains near and far enhance the quiet, relaxing atmosphere on the patio where star gazing is excellent. Furnishings were very comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped for most needs - all appliances clean and worked just fine. Plenty of closet space plus drawers and the decorative wall accents provided for a clutter-free, comfortable atmosphere. An unexpected glitch with the Dish TV was quickly taken care of by Jeffrey. Considering how spread out things can be in a desert community access was very easy to Joshua Tree NP and the Twentynine Palms area. I was very pleased with my multiple day stay and hope to return sometime..

Loved the remoteness of the cabin. Extremely clean and well taken care of.
Appreciated that it was dog friendly. Thanks for letting us stay!
We booked as a last minute Christmas getaway, not knowing what to expect at all from the area. Getting to the home and checking in is so easy. As others have said, bring food because it is a bit of a drive to the store/town.
When we got there it was absolutely beautiful weather. We let our pup out in the back yard. There is a fenced in yard inside the perimeter. Then we cooked out with the little grill. We couldn't find the grill tools (brush) so we washed the grill, but I'm thinking we just didn't find them maybe? The sunset was glorious and we had a full moon to light the sky afterwards while building a fire for smores. The property was VERY clean and well maintained.
The cabin itself is so cool. The kitchen is small and quaint, but eclectic as well. Everything was just so different than anything I've seen.
We hired a tour guide and hiked Joshua Tree the next day. If you've never been and have no idea about the plants/animals/how to scramble up and down rocks, I highly suggest it. We went to tops of boulders we never would have considered and got great pictures.
Overall it was a beautiful little eclectic cabin that I would recommend for one or two people.
We like to go out and get lost in the Mojave exploring the old abandoned homesteads that still dot the high desert landscape.
