|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Situated only two blocks from Bear Lake, this 4-bedroom vacation home boasts spacious bedrooms with queen beds, comfortable leather sofas with family room seating for 8. The open floor plan allows for easy access from the kitchen to the dining room and living spaces. The dining room allows seating for 8 guests.
This house is eco-friendly with 100% solar power. Lovingly restored in 2013, this former homestead cottage is fitted with all the amenities. Everything is brand new including the kitchen appliances, cabinets, bathrooms, and all the furnishings.
There is a fishing stream that meanders through the back yard and flows into the lake. Enjoy the magnificent mountain views and local wildlife that frequents the neighborhood including elk, moose, deer, and beavers to name a few. Have your kids try their hand at milking the goats, petting the rabbits, and collecting the fresh farm eggs. The owners live nearby in case you need anything during your stay.
The property was beautiful, the cottage was clean and we felt quite at home. The beds were super comfortable and we had a great time!!!
The owners were very accommodating and we even got two dozen fresh eggs to take home. Repeat customers here.
We really enjoyed this charming white cottage and would love to stay again. Everything is new, clean, and it is beautifully decorated. The price is great and the owners very nice. Our experience could not have been better.
This place might be a couple blocks from the lake, but you cannot access the lake unless you know the people that live on the lake to go through their property.
Kitchen was not well equipped. They had a couple pans, table setting for 8 adults. So that means running the dishwasher if it was ready of not because you need the dishes.
You have to clean the place before you leave. The cleaning supplies include: windex, toilet bowl cleaner, a couple mops, dishwasher detergent, broom, dust pan, vacuum and a duster that we could hardly figure out (it was in this contraption to clean it with the vacuum).
So no laundry soap (they didn't expect us to wash the sheets), but if we wanted to launder anything we had to buy some in town. No rags to clean with, or other cleaning materials such as: floor cleaner, counter cleaner, bathroom cleaner etc.
The place is very warm at night. Might want to open windows and always leave doors open. Not to mention the fans on too.
The water would sometimes turn off while showering or using the faucets for awhile. This might be due to the well water or solar powering.
The street is busy from atvs and cars going up fiah haven canyon. Also the yard has a fence, but kiddos can easily climb, squeeze or otherwise open the gate.
No Wifi and no service means you might need other forms of communication if your party is not all with you.
There is really only one bathroom since the 2nd was in the master and at the very end of the house. So either you woke someone up in the night or walk far from your room to get to the other bathroom.
The upsides were: large place, large yard, the animals our kids were drawn to and the owners are very nice. They let the kids (children that is) milk a goat, feed the goats and pet them. Endless amounts of fun from them.
Disclaimer: I loved this place overall, but was surprised by the kitchen and cleaning supplies. I wanted to make sure others were not in the same boat. We have rented a lot of places on the Oregon Coast, and none of them are so ill equipped for less money and on the beach. Hope this review helps.
This is a lovely home. The owners were very gracious. We have already recommended it to others wanting an outing to Bear Lake.
Loved the property and location. Owner was very nice. Price is great, especially for a family. Only trouble was the water heater was turned down and we had a day of cold showers.
The area is full of activity so much that it's impossible to do everything in one trip. Yet it's also very quiet, rural and pristine. We live in the corner of the tri-state region (Utah, Idaho & Wyoming. We are the gateway to other areas such as Jackson Hole, Yellow Stone, the Grand Tetons, Salt Lake City, and the Great Salt Lake. We are one hour from Olympic skiing (2002 Winter Olympics). We are surrounded by year round winter and summer activities at many of the ski resorts. Our cottage is located on a small gentleman's farm with a beautiful fishing stream running though it and into the lake. We enjoy the countless activities on the lake and beaches year round as well activities such as fall farmers market, Raspberry days, Rodeo, Demolition Derby, Heritage Days, marathons, youth dances, bowling, go-carting, volleyball tournaments, free fishing (on certain days), annual salmon barbecue, Bear Lake car show, Butch Cassidy days, Truck pulls, Beaver Mountain Music Festival, Parade of Homes, Bear Lake Rendezvous (Native American displays dancing and Mountain Man activities), triathlons, snowmobiling, skiing, hiking, caving, sports and water rentals, star gazing at the marina, fireworks on the 4th of July (Independence day) and also July 24 (Pioneer day).
