Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Old Bend - Mill Cabin at Deschutes Dunes

2 Bedroom Mill Cabin at Deschutes Dunes! Perfect Location. Beach/River Access!

Welcome to our rustic feeling 1918 Mill Cabin on historic Riverfront Street. This cabin was home to some of Bend's first residents. Many of the early mill workers lived along Riverfront Street. This cabin is a tribute to the old mill days and inside you will find several old photos depicting Bend's early days and life in the mills. Located on the Deschutes River right in the heart of Bend. This Two bedroom, one bath cabin has 811 square feet and is considered a "street side" cabin. Eclectic blend of cozy and rustic. It sleeps four people. You'll still feel right at home with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. Rustic, cabin like feel interior. Inviting backyard spread out to the rivers edge. Sunny spot to kick back, put your feet up. Adirondack chairs on the dock and a back deck with BBQ, dining table and chairs. Partial River Views and easy low bank river access to launch your kayak, canoe or SUP. Deschutes Dunes is stretched out over three lots. The feel is of one common park like yard. No individual fenced off yards. While you are a guest at the Mill Cabin at Deschutes Dunes. Park your car (off street parking) and experience the best Bend has to offer right out your front door. Downtown and the Old Mill District are just a mile away. Popular spots on Galveston Ave, including 10 Barrel Brewing, Sunriver Brewing, Brother Jon's, Growler Phil's, Versante Pizza & Victorian Cafe are less than a mile. We also have two canoes, bikes, paddle boards, plenty of float toys and several kayaks for our guests. Kick back and watch as floaters go by on the river. Or get out there and join them. Cast a line by twilight. The fish are jumping. Love wildlife? Our yard is visited by ducks, geese, deer, otters, beavers, muskrats. You will love the perfect location. Whether you head toward the many parks, downtown, pubs, Old Mill District, you will find yourself in the middle of it. Miller's Landing Riverfront Park and the THE NEW WHITEWATER PARK are right down the street. The Pavilion (Ice Skating/ sports) is very close. The Mt. Bachelor Park & Ride is close by and many guests have just walked over there. Need more room? Rent our vacation home right next door! VRBO # 418729... or VRBO # 611061 the "riverside" cabin. About Tab Dahl 541-480-6986

We are real estate brokers and investors who love living in Bend. I'm a third generation Central Oregonian and Mark is originally from Hawaii. We love playing golf, skiing, snowboarding, traveling, playing on the river, and enjoying all the fun family activities our area offers. We feel truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

Tab Dahl 541-480-6986 purchased this cabin in 1993

Why Tab Dahl 541-480-6986 chose Bend

The Deschutes river and iconic Drake Park make this property extra special. Bend's newest riverfront park Miller's Landing with the WHITEWATER PARK is just down the street. Columbia Park, a fun park for kid's affectionately called 'Pirate Park' is just down the street and across the foot bridge. We love how close everything is to this home. This home is great for folks who are looking for that special and unique location in Bend.

What makes this cabin unique

The property had two old mill cabins and a million dollar view of the Deschutes River. With a little imagination and a lot of TLC, the little old cabins have transformed into special and unique vacation retreats that we hope you and your family will enjoy. Ask about our other vacation rentals too. Our properties can be rented alone or combined for larger groups. Check out VRBO # 611061 and VRBO # 418729

We hope you enjoy your stay.

Beautiful setting and the perfect location in Bend

  • 3 of 5

Cabin was as described. Very rustic but adequate. The best feature about this property is the location. Very easy to walk to downtown, several breweries and great restaurants. It was chilly so we could not take advantage of all of the water toys provided but we loved that the host went out of his way to ensure we could take advantage of the river and park across the street. Our only downside were the beds. Incredibly uncomfortable. If the beds were upgraded we would consider staying here again.

Rest and Relaxation Abound

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect getaway after a busy summer. The cottage was clean, quiet and well-stocked. Tab is a great hostess and when I couldn't find dishwashing soap, she brought it over quickly.

Just steps away from the river, we enjoyed our morning coffee watching the ducks come and go, and sipped our afternoon glass of wine chatting with the river floaters. The other renters were lovely and the local residents very welcoming and respectful. Cruising bikes and river toys are available to use whenever the mood strikes. Within walking distance to Jackson's Corner, we had breakfast there every morning of our visit and also walked to the Old Mill District for shopping and Crux Fermentation Project for beers and dinner.

We can't wait to go back!

There is not a better location in Bend for a rental property. On the river with direct access and within walking distance of many restaurants, brew pubs and wonderful Drake Park. While the house is rustic, it has everything you need for your vacation stay. The beds and couch are comfortable. My only real complaint is that the bed in the larger bedroom creaks loudly. This may be solved by tightening the bed frame. We solved the problem by sleeping in the smaller bedroom. The owner is wonderful to work with and close by if needed. This was our second year staying at this property and we plan to return again next summer.

Best value of anyplace in Bend.

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the deschutes dunes but first time to this mill cabin. We loved it! Tab explained that this two bedroom cabin was a more rustic and no frills compared to the beautiful bungalow we stayed in last year, but that didn't matter. We loved the perfect location and wide open yards with a sandy beach and plenty of sitting on the various chaise lounge and beach chairs. It's a really fun place to just chill by the water. All the floaters going by would say "I love your place" and we would just smile and wish it was ours. The mill cabin is a lot roomier than it looked from the photos and even more charming. The place is furnished in an eclectic vibe with comfy Ethan Allen, mid-century modern and antiques. The bathroom had all the shampoo, body wash, a stocked medicine cabinet, and lots of bath and beach towels. The bedrooms were both furnished nice and we chose the back pine paneled room. Very charming! Comfortable bed, super sofa sheets, a great old antique wardrobe and two windows that let a nice cross breeze off the river in. This is not a fancy place, but is tastefully restored and VERY CLEAN. The grounds are well maintained, there is parking for your car, a bbq with a nice little deck that has a table and chairs for four people. There is a lot of paddlebaords and kayaks, even kid sized. Lots of sand to play in. It's amazing. The yard is incredible and by far the biggest yard we saw. We loved being able to just walk to the pubs and new water park and just put the floatie in and drift down to the cabin. Or you can go all the way down to Drake Park and ride the bus to the top of the river and float even longer. We are so glad we found this place and have told friend about it. We are definitely planning to come back here anytime we come to Bend. Thanks again for providing a wonderful stay. Your place rocks!
