'Sittin' in your wonderful barn,

or listening to you spin a yarn,

It was fate that we found your happy place:)

To 'checkout' momentarily from the rat race.

We were so grateful to stay & rest our bones,

We will be back for fall foliage &

more of those divine scones!'

A Perfect Balance

  • 5 of 5

I've tried several times to come up with a good way to start this review, but I can't find it. When I try to make it sound justifiably poetic and pastoral, it sounds hokey. So I am just going to spit it out, one thought at a time, cohesion be darned! 1) Diane keeps a very few well-behaved, beautiful chickens who may, if you ask them nicely, provide delicious eggs for your breakfast. 2) I don't know what she did to those pillows, but I have never before gone an entire night without having to smoosh and reshape a pillow so I can fall back asleep. 3) The low ceilings and big windows made everything feel special and open and in harmony with the beautiful surroundings. 4) It was both easy to find the Zen Farmhouse and easy to navigate from there to numerous other entertaining and interesting places like the Shadowland Stages or Bashakill Winery (take a picnic and buy a bottle, then walk around the grounds and the Basha Kill Wildlife Mgmt Area--it's a great way to spend the afternoon). 5) DIane is a generous host and kind person, and she has really good ideas on how to spend a rainy day as well as the sunny ones. Our weekend was so restful, we did not even get frustrated on the drive back to Brooklyn, even though Google Maps kept trying to reroute us through Hackensack. So thank you, Diane, and thank you, Jaya, and thanks to the fine feathered ladies of the yard and beyond. We're still smiling!

Superb place to unwind and enjoy nature

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed there twice now and just love the place. You can go right out on the road and walk through a beautiful, hilly forest. Lots of wild-life and hardly any traffic. There's also a walking path through the forest on the property. I think the whole place is about 12 acres.

Diane is a wonderful host and a gourmet cook. If you need some quiet out in nature, this place is terrific. There's one really nice Greek restaurant in Liberty, which is about 8 minutes away.

Once when I was there, there was also fresh food from the garden!

A Creative Labour of Love - Highly Recommended!

  • 5 of 5

Every few years or so, I take an extra long break from life as an expat in australia and head off on an unplanned trip letting the universe be the tour guide. In august 2013, my best buddy Naomi and I started out on a road trip from New York to Maine. Our first stop was the Zen Farmhouse in the Catskills for two nights just before heading to Kripalu. Our stay completely exceeded our expectations. Beautiful red barns, an organic garden, rolling acres of green pastures, hummingbirds at the windows, and a comfortable bed with clean white sheets. It is the place to unplug and get back to basics. Amazingly, there are ashrams and monasteries to explore and a kundalini yoga studio just down the road. There is a grounding yet rejuvenating quality to the place that will give a simple walk a thrill to be part of the landscape. Diane is the gracious hostess. She has an artist's heart and a soulful spirit and it comes across in her friendship and generosity. The Zen Farmhouse is her creative labour of love. It is thoughtfully simple yet comfortable bringing you back to what you need and a reminder of the true joy of living simply. It is a refuge from the sensory overload of city life and is a home away from home. We loved the space and connecting with the larger than life guests who shared a real sense of community. We highly recommend staying at the Zen Farmhouse, we definitely plan to return someday.

An all season paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Zen Farmhouse will not disappoint you. Diana is a wonderful host and her place is a delight. We stayed six nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. With Diana's help we planned our daily excursions with a focus on yoga and hiking. The Zen Farmhouse is very comfortable and the property is tranquil and relaxing. Diana is an experienced host and makes you feel right at home and very welcomed. We enjoyed making our meals at the Farmhouse and never felt like we needed to be elsewhere. Would love to return to the area and to Zen Farmhouse.

Lots to do in nearby towns and great tranquility.

  • 5 of 5

Diana was very kind, communicative, and welcoming. My girlfriend and I stayed at her farmhouse while passing through upstate New York and found security in her well-kept guest room. The guest room we stayed in had a private bathroom, hot water, and a nice and clean full/queen bed. All towels/linens were fresh and the room was expertly clean.

I'd highly recommend staying here if you are interested in seeing this part of New York, lots to do in nearby towns and great tranquility.
