Papakea Resort is a unique property unlike any other property. The resort is famous for being the least dense resort on the west side of maui - with 11 low-rise buildings on 13 acres. It has a wide open, uncrowded feel, koi ponds, lush tropical landscaping, pools & spas, 2-18 hole putting greens and grassy sunning areas. You will truly feel relaxed here.
We pride ourselves in keeping our guests informed as to any unusual activity at Papakea Resort. We have been informed of an emergency repair on the seawall in front of the Papakea Resort. There will be some intermittent noise, but our current guests are not finding it to be excessive. The views are not impacted on our floor as the work is taking place on the ground floor level. The seawall in front of our "F" building is scheduled to be impacted starting September 1 and will Continue until December 15th. We have adjusted our rates to accommodate for any inconvenience. The work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No weekend work unless there is authorization from the condo management.

The oceanfront views from the lanai are wonderful. Many evenings we watched the sunset from the condo. In the mornings the water is so clear that you can see the reef from the lanai. Every morning we sat on the lanai and watched the waves while we ate breakfast. The unit was quiet and the F building is has easy access to both pool areas. The grounds are well maintained and the BBQs by the pool are well maintained and clean.
The located of the resort is in great locations. We could walk across the street to the grocery store. We walked to get dinner a few nights.
The kitchen was well stocked with any appliance or cooking supplies that you would need during your stay. The bed was comfortable. There were also plenty of towels and beach supplies (ice chest and beach chairs).
Booking with Julie was easy. She was very prompt and easy to work with and very responsive to emails. The condo was perfect for a quiet, relaxing and private trip for us. We recommend staying here on your next trip to Maui!
Booked 6 nights at Papakea for our pseudo honeymoon.
1) Julie was excellent with answering Q's and with the whole booking process. Check-in at the resort was super easy as well. Resort Fee $17/day (which includes parking and internet fee)
2) It truly is an ocean front condo...going to sleep listening to waves crashing soon got very addicting. Perfect size/place for a romantic getaway (party of 2).
3) The condo is fully equipped: Kitchen has everything you can ask for (wine glasses, opener, Tupperware, dishwasher, and the list goes on). The unit has upgraded fixtures, granite countertops, and dimmable recessed lighting.
4) Plenty of towels for the bathroom along with 4+beach towels. (bring your own toiletries though).
5) Surprisingly the murphy bed is very comfy. Extra blankets are available.
6) The Grounds itself are quiet and beautifully well kept. Not to mention the amazing heated pool and jacuzzi closeby (The entire property has total of 2 pools and 2 jacuzzi's). Free Mai Tais on Thursday afternoons. The resort offers an island orientation (and!... its not a timeshare presentation) :).
7) Location, Location, Location. This resort is in the center of it all...10 minutes away from Lahaina and Northwest shore (Kapalua & Napili Bay). Got grocery markets, plenty of restaurants (the fish market, 808 afternoons-teppanyaki, etc.), & snorkel bobs's near by.
WE WOULD TOTALLY COME BACK HERE!
We booked 5 units at the Papakea for a family reunion. We have never been to the Papakea before but chose this resort based on pictures we had seen by doing a lot of research and reading reviews. We couldn’t have been happier with this unit and the resort. First, booking the unit with Julie was super easy. We quickly received a quote. We had a few questions and Julie responded quickly and even offered to have a discussion on the phone if we had further questions. Once we decided to book the unit, the process was very simple. We received a lot of information including how to check into the unit.
The best part however was actually stepping onto the property and then into the unit. There is a warm tropical feeling as soon as you step onto the property. The front desk at the Papakea is friendly and let us know that there is a Mai Tai party every week. We got our electronic keys and went into the condo. This was a “oh my gosh” moment. My husband and I were so excited that we were so close to the ocean…..all we saw was the blue pacific. Once we took our eyes of the ocean we noted that the unit was very clean. There were plenty of towels and beach towels. The condo is remodeled and the granite countertop is so unique. There was plenty of space in the closet for our luggage.
Since we had a big family gathering, we did a lot of BBQing. The BBQs are located by the pool and there was a nice warm breeze in the evenings. The condo had everything we need to cook.
The condo is on the 3rd floor which was perfect as we would people watch and even saw turtles and dolphins from the lanai. There is an elevator in the building, although to get some exercise we took the stairs many times. There are two pools to choose from and because the F building is in the middle, we could get to either pool quickly. The resort is like a tropical zen and we would just stroll around the property. I’m a avid photographer so I ended up taking a lot of pictures of the plants at the Papakea resort.
Julie’s list of recommendations came in handy and we tried a few things that were on her list and we were so happy to get some inside scoops.
Julie helped us make wonderful family memories and for that we are so appreciative. Thanks Julie! We will be recommending your condo to all our friends and family. BTW - next time we will book well in advance so my parents can also stay in your one bedroom and we will be really close to them.
My boyfriend and I stayed in this unit for 8 days. When you walk in the unit it is beautiful with its nicely furnished kitchen and breathtaking view. I did run into a few problems with the unit however. The agreement I received had a lot of grammatical errors along with wrong phone numbers. The maintenance man I called when the TV wasn't working wasn't a maintenance man but a resident of Hawaii. The after hours maintenance number led me to the maid who couldn't help me with the TV either. There was a lot of miscommunication going on and Julie, the owner was tough to get a hold of when trying to get information about the unit. It's a wonderful unit, don't get me wrong, but it was a frustrating process.
Stayed at Papakea last year, but the condo wasn't as nice as this one. If you want a retreat in Paradise but still have all the conveniences of a low-key resort, this is the unit to go to. Beautifully remodeled and very clean. Bed is comfortable. This studio just has good energy. I never heard the neighbors. Incredible view, crashing waves, dinners with sunset, ocean breeze. And the owners are very helpful and accommodating.
Nice thing about Papakea is that you don't need a car if you're wanting a retreat. Bike rental 1 block down the road, so you can bike to special beaches, and the yearlong, 7am-7pm organic farmers market/store, with great deli food, has everything you need. You don't even need to cook.
Now that I found this condo, I will be here in this same condo every year to rest and rejuvenate before my summer work starts!
(A word on the current re-construction of the seawall: they are working in front of the A building right now, and thanks to the crashing waves, you don't hear any noise. Looks like it may just be a nuisance when they're in front of this building, which should happen this summer, but when they move down to the L building it should be fine again).
What an incredible week! We go to the Papakea each year and have stayed at many units. This was our 5th trip. F307 is our new favorite. The views are obstructed and you can see both the islands of Lanai and Molokai. We watched the sunset from our lanai most evenings. It is oceanfront at its best! Some of the amenities that stand out: The bed is very comfortable. We liked being able to have full use of the living room during the day. The kitchen is absolutely fabulous and very well stocked. The bathroom is also stunning! We were provided enough towels for our entire stay. The towels and linens are white and just as nice as you would find in a hotel. The condo was also very clean. The flat screen was also nice. The lanai furniture was very comfortable.
The grounds at the Papakea are unlike anything you will find on Maui. This is a very large property and the gardens with the tropical plants are impeccable. I really enjoyed the water aerobics classes offered at the resort. Papakea's close proximity to the shopping center across the street makes shopping for food, quick meals and take out make it a perfect place. Duke's restaurant is within walking distance and we enjoyed our dinner there a few times.
Julie was extremely helpful and such a great person to work with. We miss the ocean waves crashing and looking forward to our return next year.
