About Peggy Petrey

We are both full-time artist living in the Southside Historical Neighborhood of Chattanooga, just blocks away from the Mitchell House. In 2007 we chose Chattanooga as our new home-base after having searched for property from San Diego to Asheville.

We fell in love with Chattanooga and it's central location. Once we heard of the redevelopment plans for the Southside area into an arts district we knew we had to move here. We purchased a metal industrial building on Main Street and created a wonderful artist live/work space. The space is perfect for us and allows is the room we need to create and flourish.

Peggy Petrey purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Peggy Petrey chose Chattanooga

Initially we bought the home for our parents, however they only needed the downstairs unit. Since the property is located downtown where all the festivals, sports activities, art events and tourist attractions happen, it made total sense to open the upstairs for others to enjoy a home-like setting while visiting Chattanooga. The house is in a diverse neighborhood that has undergone many changes in the last ten years.

Our neighbors are all friends and welcoming to all. If you sit on the porch for a few moments don't be surprised if one of the neighbors introduce themselves to you, we're a friendly bunch.

What makes this townhome unique

We love staying in vacation rentals when we travel. Often times we the amenities are minimal and we find ourselves wishing we had a tv, the internet or a few board games to play. We wanted to provide a space that has everything you will need, making your stay that much more enjoyable. You'll find that we've tried to think of everything that you might need in case you decide to stay inside on a rainy day and if we haven't thought of everything we are open to suggestions!

Spotless House in the Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This is the most adorable, practical house. We came to Chattanooga as a disjointed group of athletes to compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. We needed a lot of room because triathletes require a ridiculous amount of junk for three sports, and a lot of privacy because we are basically work out buddies, not a family. We filled every bedroom and put the extra bed in the dining room, which had its own door. The free shuttle, which starts 1 1/2 block from the house, runs straight to the expo, and makes several stops along the way for restaurants and shopping. The house was very clean, and had plenty of extra linens. It is decorated with happy, colorful art throughout. The owners, John and Peggy, were so gracious and patient with our changing plans right up to the start of our visit. We had our flight canceled out of Chattanooga due to Hurricane Irma. Peggy offered that we could return to the house for another night without charge if we couldn't get out; as it turned out, we were able to take a bus to Nashville, but it sure relieved our minds that we knew we had a place to go. From start to finish, this house suited our needs to a tee!

Location, Clean, Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time, with a sibling trip with our mother. We loved that it was close to most everything, that we could safely walk to, or take the free shuttle down to the river and aquarium. The house was extremely clean, comfortable beds, and uniquely decorated. Plenty of room for the six of us. Our brother took the roll away , twin bed , and it worked well in the dining room corner. This room had a door that closed. It makes this almost a 4 bedroom house. Would definatly stay here again. John and Peggy are easy to work with, and I was quick to get my deposit refund back.

Great Place to Stay in Chattanooga

  • 5 of 5

The place was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The location was near the Choo Choo and free electric bus service. Peggy was very kind to go and turn on outside lights for us since we arrived after dark. She was great to work with. Would definitely stay here again when returning to Chattanooga.

Only a few blocks from the ChooChoo and the shuttle which takes you downtown. We were pleased we could get around town without always taking the car. Wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

Lovely home, Very comfortable and clean

  • 5 of 5

Lovely renovated old space in a perfect location for our purposes. The house is beautiful. The beds are comfortable. Each room is quite separate off a hall that winds around the stairs going up. Kitchen was good to cook in. Beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. Communication with the host was excellent.
