Self-contained, 2 bedrooms , panoramic sea view, sun terrace and garden.

This beautiful, south-facing penthouse apartment offers a truly magnificent and uninterrupted view over Cascais and the Atlantic Ocean. Completely self-contained with it's own external entrance and garden, built-in barbeque and furnished sun terrace. An ideal holiday home which combines the natural beauty of a country house with all the conveniences of a modern city home. The kitchen is well-equipped and practical, the ample living room boasts walk-through picture windows with electric blinds/blackouts, 'fall-into' sofas, log fire, wood-panelled ceiling, cable TV, hi-fi and free 24-hour wi-fi access. There are two bedrooms, one with double bed, one with two single beds. Both have fitted wardrobes. Clean linen is provided with all beds and renewed weekly.

Golfers' paradise: There are several fine golf courses within 20 minutes driving distance from the apartment. The closest (Penha Longa) is 10 mins easy drive

Easy parking: There is ample parking space in front of the apartment in this quiet cul-de-sac.

Beach: The apartment is 3000m from 'Guincho', the biggest and most beautiful beach in Cascais. This holiday home offers a perfect balance between beach & countryside.

About Ormond Fannon

Ormond (www.ormondfannon.net) is English and his wife Lena is Portuguese. Since their three children flew the nest their house has become too big for the two of them, so they restructured and converted the top floor of their hillside triplex home into a totally separate and independent holiday apartment which they rent out to guests for the summer months each year. Access to the holiday home is via exterior steps and through its own self-contained garden..

Absolutely beautiful, panoramic view in a superb location and in easy reach of beach, town or countryside (whether on foot or by local transport or car). The local villagers are charming and everyone is friendly. A truly relaxing place to stay, but with plenty to do within easy reach.

What makes this apartment unique

Lena and Ormond are very discreet landlords, but are readily available for information or to help resolve any concerns if at all needed. It would be really difficult to find a more attractive holiday home, such a spectacular view and such a varied local environment.overlooking what is possibly the finest coastline in Europe. From Cabo da Roca - the most westernly point in contimental Europe, you can be the very last person watch the sun set over the sea.

Hardly an appartment

This property has a fantastic layout and feels more like a house than a flat.Malveira is a great little village with easy access to cascais or estoril and if you dont feel like driving there are frequent buses or a 7 Euro cab fare.The views from the property are superb,its a joy to draw the curtains in the morning and see the view of Guincho and Cascais.Ormond saw us well settled in and the whole system works like clockwork as he is available if you need help or advice.I can highly recommend his rental,we loved it and will return again in the future

Yes, it does indeed feel more like a house at it is a completely independent and self-contained penthouse apartment with its own garden and entrance from the road. Additional note: Buses also run through the village to Sintra as well as to Cascais and Estoril.

la description de la maison et la localisation sont precises,juste deux,trois petites choses qui seraient à revoir, peut etre mettre à disposition une machine à laver car quand vous restez longtemps ds une location il est agreable de pouvoir laver son linge surtout qu' il n'y a pas de laverie à proximitée,d'avoir un peu de necessaire pour laver la vaisselle tel que éponge,produit .....Sinon la vue et splendide et le calme du village de malveira et à proximitée de Lisbonne,Sintra....pour les visites.Les proprietaires sont acceuillants et à votre disposition pour tous renseignements.

Very nice appartment and nice landlords

Very nice appartment at the second floor of a small villa.

Pros:

+Fully corresponds to the description.

+ A splendid view to the hills and the ocean

+ good orientation - it does not gets too hot during the afternoon

+ Close to the (small) village center, you can do some food shoping easily

+The landlords are very nice people, helpful but discreet (if you need them they are there but if not they will not disturb you)

+ Short distance from Cascais, Sintra, the beaches, the highway to Lisbon,..(but you need absolutely a car)

Cons (not many, nonetheless!)

-the place is a bit windy

-somme small additional commodities would be nice to have (a hair dryer,..., salt and pepper, a sponge and some liquid soap for the kitchen - the kind of things not easy to carry with, especially if ones comes by plane!)

In some words, we spent some very nice holidays there and we'll keep happy memories of this place!

En quelques mots, nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances et nous garderons d'excellents souvenirs de cet endroit!

This lovely, penthouse, holiday home (interior area: 75sqm) is situated in Malveira da Serra, a small, picturesque village situated in the foothills of Sintra and overlooking Cascais and the Atlantic Ocean. The centre of the village (a two-minute walk from the holiday home) has a series of shops including butcher, baker, newsagents, two supermarkets, chemist, hairdresser, laundry, bank (w/ATM for Int'l credit cads), cafés and restaurants, surf shop, among others. There is also a medical clinic with English-speaking doctors for your holiday health requirements. Regular bus services run through the village to Cascais (7km), Sintra (11km), and Cabo da Roca (8km), the most westernly and possibly most spectacular point of continental Europe (be the last person in Europe to see the sun go down)! The closest beach to the village (3km) is called 'Guincho' and is the largest and most beautiful beach in the Cascais area.

Due to its peaceful, pretty and easily accessible locality, proximity to beaches and golf and country clubs, Malveira da Serra is one of the most saught-after property locations in the Lisbon area.

Notes:
As this penthouse apartment is built into the hillside (hence the amazing panoramic view), the steps up to it from the road (see photo) are quite steep and unsuitable for the elderly or infirm. Clean linen and towels are provided and replaced weekly. Although A/C is not provided there are two electric fans and electric blackout blinds in the living and bedrooms which help to keep the holiday home cool in summer.
