Jewel on Fort Pond

This is an amazing and beautifully appointed home and makes this a wonderful location for a peaceful and restful retreat. The cross breezes along with the lovely coastal theme of this home makes this beachfront location on the pond one of the most relaxing places to vacation. The owners were so helpful and lovely to work with and we greatly appreciated the opportunity. Treat this home with loving care as this is a rare find and an absolute jewel on Fort Pond. The location is close to town and the internet service extremely stable and strong, a plus for anyone that may need their computer to check-in for work. Everything has been so thoughtfully considered in the building of this vacation home including the outdoor shower, roomy inside bathrooms, built in-closets to store bags, clothing, and vacation items. The high ceilings contribute to the spacious ambiance. Thank you again for the wonderful opportunity to rent this special place!

Perfection on Fort Pond

I am reluctant to write this review because I want this house all to myself - forever. Unfortunately that is not going to happen, but this is your chance to experience a little slice of heaven. Get ready to be soothed for what ever ails you.

Situated directly in the center of the lake, this is an amazing direct waterfront ranch style home (one level) with soaring ceilings and huge sliding glass doors. You can feel the cross breezes all day long as the gentle winds move across the lake. The minute you walk in the door you will notice the colors all blend perfectly with the outside view; subtle greens, blues, turquoise, and pale greys. All of the creature comforts are covered here; your own private dock where you can swim, take out a kayak or paddle board, BBQ grill, fabulous teak patio table with 6 chairs, gourmet kitchen with all new appliances including a washer/dryer, cable and internet, and a wonderfully refreshing outdoor shower. The high ceilings with fans and huge sliding glass doors bring the outside into the house. From the moment you wake up, (the sun rises early here) you know you are going to have an amazing day. How could you not?

Montauk has always been my favorite area of the Long Island “Hamptons”. The stores are all “Beachy” (toy stores, t-shirt shops, drug stores, candy stores, ice cream shops and local eateries). And happily (for me), you won’t find any name brand or chain stores! What a refreshing breeze.

The hosts are helpful, gracious and eager to please. You really don’t need AC in the house, but if you don’t like humidity you can put the AC on in the bedrooms or great room (as there are separate units for each area). We had relaxing and rejuvenating week with the most perfect weather for the summer of 2015. Peaceful and away from it all, yet very close to the ocean, center of town and all that Montauk has to offer. You must make reservations for “The Harvest on Fort Pond”, and stop by the wonderful docks and enjoy fresh seafood. Wish we could stay, but we will definitely be back!

Simply Wonderful!

Wonderful, pristine home overlooking Fort Pond. Great place to relax, unwind, paddle board, kayak and walk to town or the beach.

The house has everything you could need and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. We so thoroughly enjoyed our vacation with our twin teenage daughters. Lovely.

40 Elroy is located in a quiet neighborhood called Shepherd's Neck. The cottage is 20 steps from the edge of Fort Pond, the second largest fresh water lake on Long Island. Also located just a short walk or canoe ride from the cottage are The Harvest Restaurant, Puff N Putt mini-golf / sailboat rental, and ENE Restaurant. The ocean beach and center of Town is a 5 minute walk, the Bay is a 10 minute walk. Ditch Plains Beach is a 5 minute car ride.
