What makes this lodge unique

Can we guarantee a breath-taking sunset? You betcha!

A bird watching sanctuary & paradise with many unique species to check-off your bucket list!

Like rocks? We love them & there's some beauties on our property streaked with granite & crystals. Our 'Canadian Shield' is some of the oldest and most beautiful glacier carved regions in the nation. Here in the heart of the continent lies a unique landscape formed by ancient earthquakes and volcanoes and more recently, glaciers. The most recent period of glaciation ended just over 10,000 years ago, exposing ancient Precambrian rocks. The forests that now cover the higher grounds of the park exist on a thin layer of soil that has formed in the comparatively short period of time since the last glacier receded.

This ecosystem has been affected and altered by fire, wind, logging, encroachment of non-native species, climate change, and more, but it still retains a rich diversity of plants and animals.

On a cloudless night in northern Minnesota, due to a lack of light sources, millions of stars glow brightly. Scientists say, we can see over 2,000. On occasion, when an adventurous visitor stays up well past the typical bedtime, the greens, yellows, and reds of the Aurora Borealis flare overhead. Discover the park after dark.

Unique forest? Our region boasts the Boreal tree species, which is a unique mixture -- from the north such as spruce, fir, aspen, and paper birch coexist with pines, oaks, maples, and basswood from the south and east. If you want to visit an 'old growth' BIG tree that is head & shoulders above the rest, we can arrange that too!

It is a place where wildflowers, including a surprising variety of orchids, are abundant. Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries are plentiful (and delicious). Is seeing our state's wildflower on your bucket list? Let us know and we can help you come at the right time and see this rare and showy woodland beauty known as 'The Lady Slipper.'

Come visit our amazing area!

Your vacation lodge is on the shores of Lake Kabetogama, from your dock explore 65 miles of road-less waterways boasting upwards of 200 islands & pristine undeveloped forested shoreline. Lake Kab is the largest lake of the Voyageur's National Park that is fully within USA waters. You can also boat into Canadian waters.

Visit the Bear Sanctuary & see bears in their natural habitat. It's the only bear sanctuary of its nature in the nation. There is also a Wolf center and the USA Hockey Hall of fame in our region for other day trips. Explore the depths of a local iron mine & step back in time. We are the heart of the northwoods, tour the paper mill or hug a tree that is centuries old. Enjoy the local wildlife with a fox den on our property, daily deer sightings and look up for the eagle that soars frequently over our lake bay. We typically have friendly & courageous ducklings and chipmunks too!

Got Fish? We are known as one of the best fisheries in the nation, especially for Walleye & Northern Pike; Crappies and Small mouth bass as big as they come. We have excellent fishing guides to recommend to help you zero in on the fishing hot-spots. You can also fish right off the dock!

Recreate on the lake in our protected bay with canoes, kayaks, paddle boards & floating water bikes that are included with your vacation rental. Or boat farther and hike on an island & pick blue berries in season. We also have a nice selection of motor boats for rent, if you don't have your own.

Good eats? Our area boasts nice dining to your 'north woods burger joint/sports bar.' Your fully equipped kitchen can also save money by dining in your home away from home We also have an extra mini-fridge that guests often use for beverages.

We also offer a nice selection of movies & books to enjoy during your vacation; lawn games, horse shoe pit, a small putting green with several topsy-turvy holes and trees to amuse your group.

Being the only National Park in the state of Minnesota, this is truly a beautiful gem of an area and a national treasure that you will want to include on your list of 'Must Do' vacation destinations.
