Getting to Kefalonia: We can advise guests of which airlines fly to Kefalonia, and suggest websites to try.
At present, out of season access is via Athens, with an internal flight (or ferry journey) to Kefalonia.
New for 2012 - EASYJET flights to Kefalonia direct from the UK - March to November - details to be announced.
About Kefalonia: Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands, unspoilt, very friendly, with a beautifully varied landscape.
The island's beaches offer something for everyone-sandy or pebbley, safe or wild, deserted coves or bustling, all with beautiful, clean azure seas. The beaches in the South of the island are generally sandy, and many are safe for swimming and provide excellent snorkelling.
If you need a bit more from your holiday than relaxing by the pool or beach then there are many places well worth visiting; villages such as Assos and the beautiful harbour of Fiscardo, virtually undamaged by the earthquake of 1953, the beautiful church of Agios Gerasimos, the Drogarti caves and Melissani Lake or a day trip to Ithaca. The dramatic Mount Ainos,1628m, and its surrounding National Park provides excellent walking opportunities, particularly in the spring and autumn, and is home to the island's native wild horses, eagles and osprey. The famous Robola vineyards are found in the nearby Omala Valley
Food and drink: Self catering on Kefalonia is a pleasure - the range and quality of fresh produce on the island is excellent. Local mini markets will provide essentials eg bread, fresh milk etc. For a bigger range Argostoli has daily fruit and veg markets with harbour front fish and meat also of a very high standard. In the main town there are a selection of food stores with a wider range of groceries including, if required, staples such as butter, baked beans and cheddar cheese! On each return to the island we enjoy revisiting favourite restaurants but can always discover a new gem. Numerous tavernas around the island offer simple grilled fresh fish and meat, pasta, salads and local dishes. In addition, particularly in Argostoli, there are more sophisticated restaurants to enjoy. Those with a passion for desserts will find many temptations in the island's patisseries.
For wine lovers there are several wineries on the island to visit and sample the local Robola grape.
The McClintock family - We live in Wylam in Northumberland - Ian is from Northern Ireland, where this photo is taken, and Angela is from Edinburgh. We have two teenage boys, Andrew and Charlie - we have enjoyed many holidays at our home away from home on the beautiful island of Kefalonia. We hope our guests love it as much as we do!
Angela and Ian McClintock purchased this villa in 2005
The VIEW - we had visited many building plots before we found this one, after which there was no more debate.............apart from all the decisions about tiles!!
Early morning swim in the infinity pool with the smell of lavender blossom - before the kids are up!
Watching with sunset with a G & T.........
Reading your book under the shade of an olive tree.......

Villa Dias has everything you would expect to facilitate a comfortable vacation
We stayed here for 11 days and had a fabulous time. The villa is in a lovely location, has a great layout and is fitted out with everything you could need. The pool and terraced areas get sunshine right through to late evening and have fantastic views across to the sea. The owners are very helpful and left lots of information about local restaurants and places to visit. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
All three generations thoroughly enjoyed this villa. The facilities were modern, clean and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the stunning views from the terrace in the early evening, and enjoyed a glass of wine as the sun set. The children enjoyed the pool very much, and made good use of it. The villa was so relaxing that we unfortunately didn't get to see as much of the island as we had hoped. Another year maybe!
We have just returned from a very relaxing week long stay at the luxury 3 bed en-suite Villa Dias. The Villa was immaculate and very close to the Airport (8mins drive) with everything in tip top condition ,well maintained and as advertised.
We were a family of 5 and spent most days relaxing and reading by the pool with alternate day trips (by hire car) to nearby beaches and sightseeing the island
The property is situated in a quiet Greek village about 20 minutes walk from the nearest beach but perfectly situated to explore the island by car and to sample most of the nearby local restaurants each evening.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Villa to any prospective holiday maker looking for a traditional quiet Greek holiday.
Villa Dias is situated on the edge of Kaligata in the exclusive Livathos region in the South of Kefalonia. It enjoys fabulous uninterrupted views across olive groves and cypress trees down to the Ionian sea.
Kaligata is a small traditional village, attractively maintained with many beautiful gardens full of Bougainvillea and Jasmine.
The nearest beach, Avithos-one of the island's finest and popular with Greek locals is only 1.5km away. It is a beautiful sandy bay with a taverna and restaurant and is very safe for children.
The island's capital, Argostoli is a 10min drive away. It is a bustling cosmopolitan town with a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Here you will find an excellent range of restaurants, from simple harbourside tavernas to more sophisticated venues and a range of boutiques and designer shops. The harbour hosts fresh fish and fruit & veg markets as well as many splendid yachts in the summer.
