About this property

Cabins At Hay Creek Beautiful Log Cabin Stunning Views Glacier National Park

As with all three of our cabins, Pronghorn sits on more than 20 acres of pristine forest and meadow. The expansive windows and roomy deck provide an unrivaled view north into Glacier National Park. On clear nights, your deck is also the perfect place to gaze at stars, which, due in part to our sparsely populated valley, are wonderfully bright.

Pronghorn features two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There is also a full bathroom, with a combo shower and tub--complete with beautiful tile work. In addition, Pronghorn offers a fully-equipped kitchen, and a combined dining and living room area with an energy-efficient Jotul wood stove. Logs, which are cut from our own property, are provided. On your deck, there is a large bistro style table and chairs. Log accents abound throughout the cabin.

Last but not least, our namesake: Hay creek runs the course of our southern border. It is home to the endangered bull trout.

Please note: Due to the lack of service in Polebridge, internet is not available at our cabins.

Perfect peaceful getaway
We loved staying here. It was so quiet and cozy. The views are breathtaking and the wildlife that came and visited everyday was awesome. Would definitely recommend this place and will hopefully be back soon.

Very quiet
Great location off the grid. The kitchen needs more serving bowls for salad etc. There were cobwebs in s few corners and the tub was not very clean.

Off the Grid
What an amazing place! It is beautiful and in a wonderful location. We have no complaints, however, a few notes for anyone considering this cabin: (1) it is very difficult to cool the upper level and we found that we would be sleeping in near 80 degrees and it was 50 in the downstairs (2) the bathroom is downstairs (3) there is no path to the creek and there is no instruction in the cabin on how to find the creek - once located (helpful neighbors) there are "no trespassing" signs everywhere and a huge load of river rocks has to be climbed (possibly due to flood control?) and crossed to access the creek

About the host

Our story begins more than twenty years ago when our family, who have always been and to this day remain, frequent visitors to Glacier National Park, wandered through a place called Polebridge. We fell in love with it, as most people do. Then, as if by fate, we received a sign. A literal sign. "For sale.”

Our slice of the North Fork Valley lies on the banks of Hay Creek, which is fed by the mountains and runs, swift and clear, along the southern border of our plot. This is where we spent our summers, our winters, our weekends. This is where our children fell in love with nature. Even though they've grown, that love is still evident. When they come back to this place, their stress and worry - inherent parts of life outside our valley - seem to melt away.

One night last summer, as the stars, all these years later, still inspired us to awe, someone said: "Wouldn't it be great if we could share this?"

We didn’t know it at the time, but that night a business was born: The Cabins at Hay Creek.

Why they chose this property

Join us in the peaceful and staggeringly beautiful Polebridge, Montana, for a true slice of paradise: 21.3 acres of land, 10 of which are forested; a swift and cold creek that is a pleasure to fish; and awe-inspiring views in every direction. Here you will find the Cabins at Hay Creek, which provide the comforts of home in an off-grid and eco-friendly environment. We are proud to be solar powered and to pull water from our own wells. Our goal? To leave no trace. After all, this land belongs to the pine trees, the fir trees, the aspen; it belongs to the bear, the elk, and the snowy owl. Humans are the visitors here, and we strive to be the best guests we can be.

When you stay with us, you will enjoy a two-story, two-bedroom log cabin with expansive windows and great views north toward mountains so tall they look to scrape the heavens with their snowy peaks. You get a private bathroom with hot water, a full kitchen, a living room and dining area, a private deck, and a propane grill with fuel included.

With Glacier National Park just down the road, our location is impossible to beat.

What makes this property unique

The Cabins at Hay Creek are located a mere 1 mile from the center of Polebridge, where the Mercantile (known locally as "the Merc") and the Northern Lights Saloon wait to fill your stomach and quench your thirst. We are just a few miles from both the Polebridge and the Camas Creek entrances to Glacier National Park, which just might be the most beautiful place on Earth. John Muir, the famed naturalist, once wrote of it: “Wander here a whole summer, if you can. Thousands of God’s wild blessings will search you and soak you as if you were a sponge, and the big days will go uncounted.” We are 45 miles from Whitefish and 43 miles from the airport.

That is to say, we are easy to get to but also a world away. You can enjoy proximity to the very best of Glacier National Park while also savoring the wild beauty and peacefulness of a valley most tourists make the mistake of passing by.
