Everything We Envisioned for our Wedding
Trying to find the words to express how perfect this place was is difficult. All of the amenities in the house description where as they stated. the pictures do not do this place justice. we arrived Friday and started to unload. There was enough room to store all of our belongings and wedding items for 115 people. We had seven people in total stay and never did we feel cramped. The outside has views of the mountains in the background and pasture land. the barn itself is beautiful out of the back door. the fenced in yard was big enough to host not only the ceremony for our wedding but a 60X40 tent for our reception with plenty of room still left over for corn hole and several other games. Pierrette was so amazing to work with and very informative. She responded to all of questions and concerns quickly and helped to make our special day as seamless as possible, even reaching out to the farmers to have the cows moved to another pasture for the wedding. She went above and beyond the call and we are very appreciative of that. If you would like to view the property we had photos taken almost everywhere. you can find them at #JayZputaringonit on social media.
Great Property
Beautiful early 19th century farm house overlooking the Potomac and C&O canal. Even over a bitterly cold weekend it was a gorgeous retreat, and the large outdoor fire pit kept us warm. Will be back in warmer months, as this would be a great home base for hiking or biking into nearby towns.
Amazing Setting
The history of the area and views from the house are epic. We woke up early with coffee just to see the morning mist melt with the sunrise. The house is spacious and cozy... perfect for our family reunion and Birthday celebration. I was, however, quite disappointed with the condition and cleanliness of the house. Not to reflect on the lovely "Dottie" who greeted us... she and her husband are so welcoming and went over everything with me. This is beyond one person's capabilities. A cleaning crew needs to regularly maintain this property. Windows desperately need washing. Bannister needs strengthening... kitchen drawers need to be organized etc. This said... we looked beyond it and enjoyed the scenery and family time. Thank you for precious memories.
What a lovely spot!
This was the annual cousins weekend , and your great home and property set a very high standard for future outings. We walked the battlefield daily, but still managed the nice walk up the lane to the road turning up or down the road alternatively. We enjoyed a cocktail in the evening on the rock patio and grilled out most evenings. We found the historic home to our liking and well equipped. All in all it was a great week spent in a memorable setting.
Thanks for everything
Clean, comfortable, historic, and a great workout!
The Doyles are super hosts. Their vacation home is perfect. You are drawn back to the mid 1800's yet all the amenities of the 21st century. It's a quiet non-commercial look at the Battlefield and an opportunity to bike or hike on the C&O Canal Towpath with beautiful views of the Potomac River Valley.
A short ride across the river to West Virginia provides plenty of great restaurants. A deeply memorable vacation!
A beautiful vacation home
We spent 4 wonderful spring days in this beautiful house. The photos do not do it justice. It was perfect for our family reunion. We were 4 families- 6 adults, 1 teenager, 1 seven year old and 3 four year olds. There was plenty of room. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The kids (and adults, too) really enjoyed the cows. Rent this house and you will NOT be disappointed!
Location
Hiking on the Appalachian Trail or the C&O Canal are close by. History buffs can explore Antietam Battlefield, Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg. The area has plenty of antique stores and museums plus outlet shopping in Hagerstown. Enjoy dining at many restaurants.
